Shimano CS-HG41 Cassette 11-30 8-speed Acera

High quality 8-speed cassette. Hyperglide sprockets have a computer designed tooth configuration with contoured shift gates, resulting in a crisp smooth shift even under load. MegaRange gearing gives a super-low 34T sprocket making it easier to climb even the steepest of hills. Sprockets are cut away to reduce weight without reducing rigidity. Nickel-plated finish offers hard wearing resistance to corrosion. Corrosion-resistant steel cassette lockring. For 8-speed HG chains.

Looks pretty good, ordered two pcs, they have something like serials and they differs (this is good). Packed into two instructions, make sure to be careful with second one, if you planning to read it. Will install for next season, so I can only say that visually quality is good. Tracking number was provided.

admittedly, a low end component but it does the job and does it very well. I'm an overweight 50 odd year old bloke so upgrading my bike with expensive lightweight components is pointless. One less bacon sandwich would would perhaps be of more use. This cassette has exactly the same combination of gears that the cassette it replaces had but instead of being a boring lump of dark grey metal it is nice and shiny. Not only does it provide for smooth and easy gear changes it looks good whilst doing it. If, like me, you're just an average guy who enjoys pootling along on his bike at a nice steady pace for mile after mile this cassette is more than up to the job.

Good value old style cassette. The cogs are made from 1.8mm steel and are the only ones that will stand up to the power of my 750 w Bafang electric drive. The modern ones just crumple like tissue paper. See the graphic.

Great for steep hills.
30 September 2018

Match the 34T cassette with a 22T up front and you get a great low gear for steep hill climbing. The wide jump from 34T to the next up could be improved but not a serious problem.Bought to upgrade a Carrera Axle from 7 speed freewheel to freehub, however, there is a problem... try finding a 650b / 27.5 rim brake freehub wheel ... next to impossible. Only one UK supplier that I can find. Several manufacturers are now selling bikes with this size of wheel in V brake so why the lack of available upgrades? Almost same situation with touring / road tyres.

Perfect Upgrade for a Unique Bicycle!
13 June 2022

I LOVE the Gorgeous Silver finish that matches my Chrome KMC Chain, and surprisingly it is Lighter than the previous cassette I had on my custom bicycle!!! Adds a nice contrast to my bike's Dark Gray, Silver and Black color scheme, too!! EXCELLENT UPGRADE!!! Lastly, all I need is Seven Speeds since my bike is a 21 Speed and works just fine for me. I'm happy with my purchase and upgrade!! Thank You!

Quality.
23 March 2022

Quality is as we've come to expect from Shimano. As we all know it's a consumable part, so it'll wear out sooner or later. The price and service from Tredz was top drawer, as always. Cheapest online price, and if you do manage to find it cheaper, they'll price match it. If you want quality parts quickly and at a good price, use Tredz.

Sometimes less is more
3 August 2020

Although the bike industry seems to want us to replace everything to get more and more gears on the back wheel, quality bicycle parts last longer than these trends. These 7 speed cassettes are doing a great job keeping my older, very functional technology road-worthy. I find that, with a little finesse, I can keep my old, hardly worn 13T cog (if my 13t is hardly worn, why would I want an 11t?) and enjoy the quiet, well-centered drivetrain of that "old" technology. Never had a 7-speed chain break; never missed a 7-speed shift; never needed to spend long trimming a 7-speed to run quietly; never had trouble friction shifting a 7-speed. Can't say any of that about the higher cog count systems I've run into. I was sad when Shimano stopped making their "premium" 7-speed ... MoreAlthough the bike industry seems to want us to replace everything to get more and more gears on the back wheel, quality bicycle parts last longer than these trends. So I guess I'll have to stock up a bit.

Upgrade for an 11 - 30 Cassette
12 March 2017

I wanted to upgrade my 11 - 30 Cassette due to loaded touring and needing an extra low gear. The 34 tooth cog is what I was after. However, the cog sequence is the same for the 11 - 30 as it is for the 11 - 34, with an 11 in first position and a 26 in penultimate. The 11 is too high and the jump from 26 to 34 too wide. So, after removing the rivets on both cassettes, and purchasing a Miche 13 tooth 1st position cog, I took the 30 tooth from the existing set up, removed the 11 tooth 1st cog and the 13 tooth second cog from the new cassette and installed the 30 tooth prior to the 34 tooth and put the Miche 13 cog in place of the 11 tooth first position and the 13 tooth second position. So now I have a custom cassette with 13 15 17 20 23 26 30 34 cogs.

Using the right Gear
15 August 2020

I am a motorcycle Mechanic and do all my own servicing of my bikes & have been cycling all my life. Just recently I decided to upgrade my gear Cluster which was a Shimano HG cluster 11/28 with a weight of 310 grams. To my recent purchase of a light weight Shimano HG 11/32 with a weight of 307 Grams. I am very Happy with the quality of this Cluster, it is lighter & gives me a slightly lower first gear. Great value for money.

Worthwhile upgrade to Carrera Tanneri
6 May 2019

I really like my Carrera Tanneri, but have in the past lamented the lack of a true "granny gear". I decided to fit this cassette in place of the original and it has made hill climbing significantly easier. As others have pointed out, there's a bit of a jump between the lowest two gears, but it's no real problem. Now for some "top tips" - obviously, you'll need a cassette removal tool, but consider buying / borrowing a chain whip too. My cunning plan to adapt an oil filter chain wrench that I had lying around resulted in some serious swearing. Also, don't expect not to have to adjust the rear mech - not just the H/L screws but the "B screw" too, that varies the height between the cog and the mech. I replaced the chain as well, and ended up buying a new gear cable ... MoreI really like my Carrera Tanneri, but have in the past lamented the lack of a true "granny gear".
