There is always room for improvement, however for the price the reel casts well, has a smooth enough drag, allowing for the fact the level wind remains stationary. This means the line can come off the spool from the opposite side the level wind is on. At higher drag settings it is noticeable. So far I have spent about 3 hours casting it with 30lb Kairiki braid. The braid started out a little stiff but is settling down, or I am getting more familiar with its casting ability. I have 3 Curado 300 reels now. If they weren't any good I wouldn't have bought this one.

this is a great reel, I have been using the 300 standard for some time very good and smooth for the price. The HG was on special for under $200 so I couldn't resist a spare. the added gear ratio is also good to have.
I bought this reel to throw big swimbaits in the 1-6oz range and it’s perfect for that. Tosses them a mile and has no problem working these oversized baits.
It’s a Shimano Curado so it’s smooth reeling and hopefully built to last many fishing trips. Reasonable price for an all around reel for bass or Musky.
Best frog rod reel on the market at this price point currently. Own two of them and will not own any different.
I had a Lews Mach reel and the best I can say its like going from a Timex to a Rolex. By far one of the best reels I have ever owned.
These things are freaking tanks! I have a few of these reels and I put them to the test quite frequently. I have tried other brands and in casting reels nothing compares to Shimano. The retrieve and anti reverse on these are primo. The looks resemble that of an Italian super car. These things are built to last. I have a few older ones and the only thing thats ever happened is that the little plastic piece on the button fell off. This is okay because there is still a button beneath that it's just not as smooth. Im thinking about getting the Curado DC, as I didn't like. my SLX DC as much as my normal Curados.
The fit all, fish all, all-around reel. Beginners to advanced, when in doubt - Curado K. Thinking about trying other brands? Just stop. Buy a Curado K - make life easier and enjoyable.
