A favourite amongst anglers, the 2020 Maikuro series is the perfect all-round graphite rod series that represents great value and performance. Now, the series has been given a sleek cosmetic refresh as well as some great componentry upgrades. The blank has been upgraded to a 30T Toray graphite blank, which gives the angler a crisp feeling rod when working any size lure. The guides have also been upgraded to Sea guide K frames to add a new look and feel, while the butt end of the rod still features the classic Maikuro style of mixed full-length cork and EVA butts across different models.

This rod is beautifully balanced. I use it as a light beach and rock fishing rod, targetting whiting, vream, drummer, flathead, trevally, and aussie salmon.

Purchased the 2-5kg rod to pair with a stradic 2500, having owned a maikuro series 1 before, I thought it would be great to try the later model. Was disappointed when the tip clean snapped just below the second guide during a King George Whiting Session on the Eyre Peninsula. Took it back to BCF and they had no issues swapping it over. Ended up spending a bit more and getting the Shimano Raider. Before breaking it felt and performed really well on whiting and flathead. Shame it broke.

I purchased this rod in April. I had to return it the first time I went to use it because the line guide at the tip of the rod was damaged and everytime the slightest bit of pressure was applied it severed the line. Staff at Anaconda in West Gosford were fantastic and allowed me to swap it for an undamaged product. The undamaged rod profermed as expected. It casted well and I caught two decent tailor with it. I'm curious to see if it will last or if it will quickly break as the original one I purchased was already broken.

Amazing fun light weight rod, that will still bring in the big catches without trouble. Have bought another 2 rods from the Maikuro range.Pairs perfectly with the Shimano Nexave 3000 reel.
Bought the 12ft surf rod a month ago and have used it a few times now, absolutely love how it feels in the hand with the cork base. Easy to swing. Great sensitivity as well, can feel the sand when dragging lures.4 piece so easy packaging. Not too heavy, paired up with a Penn SSVI4500, mostly beach jigging and some bait fishing as well.Have pulled in a fatty blackfish and a few small flatties, nothing bigger than that yet.Zero complaints, its a great rod for the price.
I bought one of these rods after being recommended by a friend. I love using them for flicking soft plastics for red fin in the local lakes. Light weight and you can cast all day without an aching shoulder. I will purchase more of these for different casting needs in the future.
I bought the 10'6 model to pair with a 4000 Stradic and 15lb braid for rock fishing. The rod is super light but can still cast 70g lures and pull in big bonito, tailor and salmon. However, the rod tip bent very easily when I was landing a bonito off the rocks and it brushed the ground. The cork grip also doesn't seem to be actual cork and after putting the rod down on rocks a few times the grip is already falling apart.
I’m new-ish to beach fishing now having fished consistently for 8 months, and wanted to upgrade from an entry level beach combo. I upgraded the reel to a Shimano Nasci 5000 and fished with it on the fibreglass combo rod which did the job. I had been looking for a light rod upgrade with length for the beach and responsive enough for smaller species like bream and whiting. The rod has exceeded my expectations. Paired with the Nasci 5000 (I don’t think I would go any larger than a 5000 on this rod). Nice and light so it can be held for a full 2 hour session, super responsive, great casting ability, balanced. It can also handle bigger sized fish no problem.Very happy with this purchase. I can’t see any faults with this rod nor any reason to upgrade from this any time ... MoreI’m new-ish to beach fishing now having fished consistently for 8 months, and wanted to upgrade from an entry level beach combo. I bought this rod back in February…it was 4th time in use.felt strange when the guide size was different from exact one that i bought days before.today I casted a whiting rig with size 3 bean sinker maybe bout 10m d〜12m away. then it just snapped in 3pieces…and not at the joint. So it has to do with this product quality. Wasn't expecting it to happen on shimano rods but hey, it just happenedðŸ«
One heck of a rod! This is my go to rod, the shimano maikuro II 9ftIt will cast lures 12g (havent gone any lower) esaily 40m thanks to the awesome length! I caught 6 squid and a cuttlefish th other night on it, felt everything and didn't lose any. Will catch 3kg salmon no problem, very sensetive for 12g lures and squid jigs of 2.5 size. The heaviest lure I have ever casted on it was a 60g jig, it went an absolute mile!!! And caught fish one after the other, the sweet spot for it is 40g, but I mainly use 12g and 20g jigs.I have been using the shimano nasci 5000 with 20lb berkley x9 for over a year with the rod and had no problem, the reel is a bit light and will be going to the saragosa 6000I highly recomend this light, durable, sensitive rod for begginers to ... MoreOne heck of a rod! I'm not a very big bloke but can cast this for 6 hours no problem. And I havent been ablr to find any rod that is this good in all price ranges! The only thing I dislike is the cork rod but. It looks nice but isn't as comfy as EVA foam. And the cork you see near the reel seat is plastic with a cork print lolBut toher then that, GET THE ROD, amazing
