A very pleasant surprise...

I needed to replace S-PHYRE 900 era shoes and the current 903 equivalent is about $500 a pair. I was sort-of willing to go there, but I decided to try a couple of other shoes first before making that big a purchase. I wanted double BOA design shoes, but after trying a couple different models which did not fit my feet very well, I decided to try one more pair, the RC5 even though they were single BOA. From the start they felt comfortable, with a nice solid fit, and a bit of flex as compared to the S-PHYRE and other shoes I've worn in the recent past. Given the $170 price was about one third of the latest generation S-PHYRE, it was worth a shot. After a few weeks, they remain great, and in fact I favor them over the S-PHYRE I had planned to buy. On the road they have been comfortable, with no hot spots and good power transfer, and on the trainer they've not been an issue. I may miss the dual direction BOA (tighten and loosen by the dial), but not at this point. My feet usually shrink during a ride, so being able to tighten the shoes with the BOA dial may be enough. Love them, would buy again in an instant. I may buy a second pair later in the year so I can switch between them for my trainer-winter as all the trainer riding really took a toll on my last pair. For this price, why not?

Very happy with purchaseShoes are comfortable for myself through short sprint sessions and 5 hour endurance rides. They are quite well ventilated which I expect will be good for summer but does make a tad cold in the winter - helped by simply taping over with electrical tape.Sigma sports excellent as usual

This is my second Shimano shoe, my 1st one lasted 7+ years. The first one was a 47 this was a 48 but I think it was more my feet, they stretched due to my age, I'm a baby boomer I ride over 65 miles per week. So they may be true to size or slightly smaller.

Great replacement for older Shimano shoes worn out
6 June 2021

Just bought this during the recent sale to replace a pair of Shimano R107's that are more than 10 years old. Initially I found these somewhat challenging to put on, partially due to the more form fitting heal - but quickly found that helpful and more efficient when pulling up on the back pedal stroke. They adjusted nicely to my foot after just a few riding miles, quite comfortable. Amazingly light too. I'm looking forward to another 10yrs with these!

I upgraded from the RC 300 series to the 500. They seem to have an identical sole. The opening makes it easier to get in and out of the shoe, and the closing mechanism is nicer to use. Comfort and functionally I perceive them as identical, so if they cost nearly the same, the 500 would be a no brainer. As the 500 costs a lot more, I personally will buy the 300 next time as I don’t perceive them to be worth a lot more.

Not a wide fit shoe!
10 July 2022

These shoes look fantastic and are supposed to be a wide fit. So I ordered some.I have other Shimano shoes, size 45 and they fit fine. These are narrower than what I have already.I've sent them back to you for a refund. Pitty the postage to send them back has cost me $20.Anyway, I still love you a pushys and I still ride heaps so will need more shoes and riding gear. I know you're not responsible for Shimano's sizingI'll keep shopping with you. It's like visiting the candy store 😊🤣

One of the best value shoes

Great value for a performance road cycling shoe.Carbon composite sole, boa closure and great fit. Stiff enough but still comfortable.I needed the wide version as the regular version is slightly narrow but true to size in terms of length.

Shimano RC5 Wide Road Cycling Shoes
20 September 2022

My Shimano Men's RC5 Wide Road Cycling Shoes were delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the Eur 42 size Wide-Large (US 8.3). I removed my old 3-screw cleat and reattached it on the RC5 without any issues and adjusted them to a position, according to my pedaling style. Shoe fit was spot-on, the "Wide" really made a difference in comfort... I initially went to an REI store and tried the "normal" (Non-Wide 42) and the fit was tight. They did not have the Wide, so I had to order them from the REI Coop store. I was lucky to get it at a Labor Day sale, but technically, the shoe with the Boa dial laces gave the shoe a nice snug fit. It would have been nice to have a 2nd Boa dial for the front portion of the shoe, but it had velco (which as sufficient). I typically ride approximately 120-150 miles/week, but only use this Road Cycling Shoes for about 50-miles of the ride. So, far after a few weeks, the shoes perform well. I would recommend this shoe for any cyclist that have "wide" foot (I normally wear a EE shoe).

Shoes are great, very comfortable so far, I felt the difference in comfort from my previous shimano shoes. I am very pleased with the quality of the material, the BOA ratchet system is so much precise than the straps from my previous shoes. Thank you for the fast service Bike INN.

Wide is great, tongue is not padded enough
15 April 2023

I had been wearing shoes that were too long for me because I needed something wide enough for my feet, and then someone pointed out I should just buy wide shoes...duh! Also, bonus points for having enough room for my custom orthodics. Downside is the tongue. It is not that thick/soft and does not overhang enough to really protect your top of your foot from getting pinched by the top strap of the shoe. So it's comfy for part of your pedal rotation and pinchy-hurts for the other part. I won't buy these again for that reason.
