I bought this after snapping an XT one to save some money. They are essentially the same. I cannot tell that it's an SLX and not an XT. It has all the same features (adjustable clutch) as the XT, it is just slightly heavier and I believe the pulley gears are slightly different. I don't know why you would buy the XT over the SLX. Save some money and buy a nicer shifter.

I upgraded a drivetrain to full slx 11spd from sram 10 speed. I can compare function to full xt m8000 drivetrain I have on a seperate bike. The slx derailleur function feels the same so far, same speed of gear change (using same Sunrace wise ratio cassettes also). The SLX shifter is actually preferable to me over the xt shifter as the slx is quiet and smooth while the xt is clunky with shifting and reports with an audible click during shifts, plus the lower trigger of the XT seems longer and gets more in the way during riding. This slx derailleur is fine.

Used this with 12 speed 10-45 cassette and xt m8100 shifter and I’m getting great shifting performance! The clutch works really well and I have no complaints after running this thing through the chunk for a year. Great budget option! And works with shimano 12 speed 10-45 cassette with 12 speed shifter!

Great replacement for my old XT rear mech as the clutch mechanism had gone in both of the ones I had. Good price and prompt delivery too.
As a long time loyal user of Shimano components, it's because of the reliability and excellent service that Shimano provides that I will remain rock steady as a Shimano fan.The SLX RD isn't the lightest in their lineup, but it most certainly fits the bill for my pop's rig. He's not overly concerned with the weight, but as his personal mechanic I am always down for having bulletproof reliability and solid performance. Smooth shifts and no dropped chains, yes please!
I was concerned that the derailleur could not handle all the way to the 46T but it does so just great . Bought this for a second bike to swap rear wheels to share the same 11 speed 46T cassette. Worked perfect with minimal adjustments. Clutch is great!
Wonderful shifting. I have the XT M8000 on my Enduro and had it on my wife's Ruze. But she crashed pretty hard and destroyed it. So we tried this as a replacement and i'm not sad at all. It looks better with the pewter finish and it shifts just as clean. The one noticeable difference is the weight. But for a few fistful of dollars less, this is the best 11 speed way to go for budget minded folk
I installed the SunRace 11-42t 10 speed cassette on my 1x10 drivetrain. Initially I simply used a longer b-limit screw on my 10 speed xt rear derailleur. Worked fine and shifted ok, but shift performance was lacking. With the b-limit set so far back on the 10 speed unit, you could either tune it to shift well in the bottom half of the cassette or the top, not both. And it would still struggle a bit to push up onto that 42 tooth cog.For the price this derailleur absolutely did the trick. It is compatible with shimano's "direct attach" derailleur standard, and when paired with my 10 speed Saint sifter it shifts beautifully. Ordered this as it is a great price. I decided to go full M7000 drivetrain after being set up with a 10 speed Zee setup. After install I could not get it set properly to get it onto the 10 cog, and it hit the 37 tooth cog. I had to take this one to a shop and have them finish the install. The Zee was easier but I like the wider range for hills.
