I absolutely love this reel! I decided to spend more money and get the new Shimano Stradic FM 5000 and I couldn't be more happy. Fit and finish are impeccable. The smoothness and power are amazing. I love the factory power handle too. Very smooth drag as well. There is not a single thing I don't like about this reel.If you are on the fence about this new Stradic Fm don't hesitate just buy it and feel the quality.

Can't believe you want me to review this. Reel was making sounds after day 1. Took it back to BCF, was gone to shimano for 5 or so weeks. Came back they said it was the braid making the sounds. Still makes sounds even though i changed the line again. I literally just got ripped off by BCF and Shimano. Gonna shop local tackle shops from now on and use daiwa. $400 i will never see again. And you guys still want a review. What a joke!!!!

I have been using a stradic 2500 for about 5-6 yearswith 15 lb braid. Really heavy use. Mostly saltwater, some beach and pier. Has been flawless.Very smooth and powerful drag. Casts well. I was initiallyConcerned that it was too small, as replaced a 4000.But it has handled everything very well.

Great Reel for Rod Twitching Fluke Bait Techniques
2 August 2024

Very happy with this reel. Nice weight and the drag and crank are silk-smooth. Use it for bass fishing. I fish a lot of fluke baits [Zoom flukes or Yamamoto D Shads]. I'm using it on a 7 foot medium rod, 8lb fluro with Texas rigged baits. Considered the 2500 but opted for the 3000 series since it had the highest gear ratio and IPT (Inches Per Turn) which I found critical for picking up line post-twitch or then the fish rushed the boat. Overall, a great combination.

Great features, great reel

I’ve been using Daiwa reels for years. Decided to get my first Shimano and it doesn’t disappoint. Excellent reel. Extremely smooth. It was this or the 24 TD Black. This one felt better and reeled better. Paired it with a Shimano Maikuro 2 rod 3-6kg best combo ever. Perfect weight balance, makes fishing extremely fun

Largemouth bass, Peacock bass, payara and piranah
6 April 2020

I am new to bass fishing, bought two of the 2500 for poppers and jerk baits for a 3 day fishing trip to mexico, El Salto lake, caught over 100 fish on one reel up to six pounds, Lightweight, great drag and very smooth. Then took reels to Colombia fishing for peakock bass, payara and piranah. The guide told me the reel looked to small. Over the course of five days fishing caught up to 30 peacock bass up to 15 lbs, reel worked flawlessly! Plenty of drag to keep the bass from going in the shallows or wrapping around underground tree branches. Biggest Payara was 15lbs, and again, the reel stopped the fish from getting into the current and swimming off. I just could not believe how such a small, lightweight reel performed! Also, I used max quatro 30 lb for largemouth ... MoreI am new to bass fishing, bought two of the 2500 for poppers and jerk baits for a 3 day fishing trip to mexico, El Salto lake, caught over 100 fish on one reel up to six pounds, Lightweight, great drag and very smooth. Also, I used max quatro 30 lb for largemouth bass and 65lb for peacock's. Got almost 100 yards on the spool, which was plenty! Rather than change out the line, I ordered extra spools from Shimano and delivered next day for free!

Shimano, Stradic , 5000 series

I have always owned Shimano reels since I’ve been a kid and always bought the middle of the road reels. I have always loved them this one. I spent more money on because I have the money and it absolutely is amazing. So smooth it’s incredible. Built well and is incredible for my steelhead fishing, I would highly recommend it. It’s worth the money.

Smooth as butter
18 August 2023

I bought this reel after reading a review from Smallies on the Yough Guide Service. I will be upgrading all my spinning reels to this model before next season. The wide spool makes throwing finesse baits a breeze. The drag is as smooth as butter and perfect for fighting giant susquehanna river smallmouth on light line. You will not be disappointed purchasing this reel from Fishing Online.

Stradic
30 June 2021

The Shimano Stradic is one of the smoothest reels I have used. I’ve used this reel in some tough environments here in Western Pa., from harsh winters to humid hot summers. This reel holds up well. The 2500 and 3000 models are the ones that I prefer on wading rivers because of line capacity. The 1000 model is much lighter but the line capacity falls short on longer wades. Another thing about the 2500 and 3000 model is that the handle is bigger for cranking and in swift current it sure helps having that as you fight a 20 inch bronzeback. This is a mid-range reel that works better than the price. I own the first model that came out and still use it. This reel could last a lifetime, if cared for properly. If you are planning to wade rivers this reel is for you. Wade ... MoreThe Shimano Stradic is one of the smoothest reels I have used.
