Great Reels for the Price

Fantastic reel for the price. Have used mine for bottom fishing and a little light trolling. I could see the handle being a little uncomfortable if battling a good-sized fish, but for everything I've caught so far it has been fine. Honestly, you can't ask for much more on a reel at this pricepoint.

Great light tackle reel.

Great reel for all around light trolling. I also own TLD 25's and honestly I perfer the 15's. I mainly use them for Dolphin, Blackfin, Kings, Sails... I've had them for a few years now with no issues at all. They are just light enough to feel comfortable and just heavy enough you can put some pretty good pressure when it's needed. The only thing I'd change is I wish the 15's had harness rings like the 25's do, the wife would really appreciate the rings on any game fish over 20lbs (especially the Blackfin) I would NOT dare high-speed wahoo fish with either they will get smoked quick but I have brought in a 45lb hoo that picked up a freeline on the 15. If your looking for something to do some reef trolling I would definitely recommend it.

This is a great reel at this price point. However, you HAVE to upgrade the handle. Other than that this a time tested piece of equipment and a must for bottom fishing or trolling.

My second TLD
28 April 2022

Brought this reel to go fishing on the reef off Agnes Waters Qld. So it has only had one trip but performed very well on a range of fish of different weights. While the reel did perform well, a lot of credit has to go to the staff at Gladstone BCF.They fitted up the reel with backing and braid taking the time to do the best knots and quantities of both to ensure the best outcome. The large shark proved the reel was up to the task, it was me that was a bit lacking in stamina

Quality at a bargain price
18 January 2021

I was always taught that you cannot buy quality cheap until now. This is the best fishing reel for all round use in the U.K. From bass fishing reefs to UK shark fishing this reel can handle it.First class corrosion free finish and super smooth drag system. When bought from a company with a proven background and at the price they offered it for you have to be on a winner.

Reel/rod great, BCF Very poor
19 May 2021

Product great! Classic reliable light tackle game reel. The landcruiser of game reels.Extremely poor dealings with BCF personnel. It was processed as click & collect but I filled out the postal details online as I’m 12000kms away. Took too long to receive and staff were painful to deal with. Not the first hassle with BCF either.

Reliable in heavy saltwater conditions
28 September 2021

I use it mainly for kayak fishing and it is an environment where salt water is constantly falling on it. Ive fished Black Skip Jack up to 15lb and has taken them out without problem. Also I have friends that have fight YFT around 40lb with TLDs and worked fine.

TLD 15
5 August 2020

TLD 15, punches way above it weight. My partner who is just under 5 ft didnt want an overhead with excessive weight but one that was tough and had a great drag. We part time live onboard our vessel MV_Erika-K which is in survey for charter so we fish a lot and constant exposure to the element sorts garbage gear. This is our 5th TLD but our first 15. Wont be our last , it is is as good as big brothers, great reel.

I have two of each, they are my main trolling rods. 50's are on Crowder 50-80 and running 80lb mono. 30's are on Crowder 30-80 running 40lb mono. I run the 50's with large bait, deep behind the boat and the 30's in closer with lighter bait. Great overall reels, easy to maintain, heavy drag when needed. The Big lever drag is right at your fingertips. Great value for a moderate priced reel.

The standard for saltwater reels
13 January 2016

When I started getting into the bigger fish and heavier duty fishing equipment I started searching for what reels to get. There's no other reel that's recommended more than the TLD25. For a fraction of the price of the high end reels you can catch pretty much anything in the ocean (realistically) with this reel. After starting with 1 to try it out I ended up buying 3 more to round out my trolling spread. The only thing I would say that could be improved is the handle. I've see several people who have upgraded to a larger handle that swear it makes it a much better reel.
