Great reel and well balanced combo, but the runners on the rod are poorly plated steel and rust after little use. I'm very disappointed that the runners were not stainless as the rod is primarily a saltwater rod. I would gladly pay a little more for stainless steel runners on this setup.

Great reel and well balanced combo, but the runners on the rod are poorly plated steel and rust after little use. I'm very disappointed that the runners were not stainless as the rod is primarily a saltwater rod. I would gladly pay a little more for stainless steel runners on this setup.
Came missing parts and must have been a display model as the drag washer was broken. Had to replace with a part from another TLD reel at home.
This combo is not bad at all. It is super heavy duty and coupled with 80lb braid there won't be much that gets away. The rod has good feel even for smaller fish despite it's 15-24kg rating. The reel is easy to use, although you need to guide the line onto the spool. after a few fights the line seems to find it's own path and only sometimes requires guiding with the fingers. Two small faults. It's retrieval ratio is not the best, bottom bouncing in 100m+ water can become a core. Also the handle is too small and fatigues the hand after a big battle.This can be easily remedied by fitting the Shimano Tyrnos handle.Good entry level setup that has no real major faults.
I’ve managed to use these two combos a few times now and they have exceeded my expectations in every way. Ideal trailer boat trolling combos that are great value.
Bought this Combo ..Real is ok .. But not happy with the Rod ,Etc the Guides on the Rod are Corroding after 3 months and it been kept inside and used once .. Very poor quality .. Why not Stainless Steel ..
Bought two of these recently for a fishing trip up north. Two fishing reels spooked with 60lb braid, running long 60lb mono leaders.Set the rods up to troll with a couple rapala/halco lure set ups and couldn’t believe losing $120 worth of lures in a heart beat.Upon further inspection, the culprit was the end eyelet being poorly designed with also signs of damage (on both!) upon first use- I didn’t check these upon purchase but should have. It was acting like a guillotine on the braid. Both rods were securely, safely and safely transported from home to boat.Upon returning the rods for a refund yesterday, I noticed they have changed the rods that come with this combo.
This set up is amazing. Great price for the combo, and it is tough.
Great product . Robust and smooth action . Disappointing that local BCF couldn’t take the time to assist with out the line in it two days in a row .
