Brought this reel to go fishing on the reef off Agnes Waters Qld. So it has only had one trip but performed very well on a range of fish of different weights.While the reel did perform well, a lot of credit has to go to the staff at Gladstone BCF.They fitted up the reel with backing and braid taking the time to do the best knots and quantities of both to ensure the best outcome.The large shark proved the reel was up to the task, it was me that was a bit lacking in stamina
GREAT offshore trolling reel. Large line capacity. Durable and minimal maintenance. Fast retrieve to check bait and extra power for those large fish. Once you use a two speed reel you won't go back to a single speed! Shimano brand is always high quality.
Product great! Classic reliable light tackle game reel. The landcruiser of game reels.Extremely poor dealings with BCF personnel.It was processed as click & collect but I filled out the postal details online as I’m 12000kms away. Took too long to receive and staff were painful to deal with. Not the first hassle with BCF either.

After using TLD15’s over five years for in-shore and bay fishing, I trust the TLD design. Moving further off shore to target bigger fish meant a big investment to upgrade my gear. The TLD30II two speed reel was a smart choice to start with. It’s a has everything that I needed; large spool capacity; 2 speed gear ratio; and the lever drag which is perfect for trolling. Only negative is that the mounting lugs must be installed before spooling.
This is a very nice and smooth reel which is why I purchased this product especially for the purchase price. Shimano has done it again and making this product affordable for the average anglers.
Shimano TLD 30A 2 Speed Fishing Reel is an entry level trolling reel. It is a dependable workhorse and will provide several years of service when when properly maintained. The graphite frame is easy to keep clean and the 2 speeds allow larger fish to be landed without fatigue.
