For emergency use only! I was very excited to give this product a try. It's been a long time since I've used dishwasher powder since converting to the tablets. I found the tablets far excelled the powder when I started using them 10 or 12 years ago. I was hoping that powder had come along since then and improved in performance. Sadly not. I tried a few washes, happy to give the first disappointing result the benefit of the doubt. General results were the same every time. Bottom shelf of completed dishwasher was mostly clean, a few bits stuck to a few plates that needed to be soaked then hand washed. Worst was the top shelf. A lot of soaking then hand scrubbing after dish-washing was needed to get the mugs clean inside. Glasses were left with a dirty, sandy residue. More hand washing to rinse and clean again. Not sure I want to re-wash dishes that should be cleaned. Lumps of claggy paste stuck to the inside of the dishwasher door after each wash was completed. Nope, I wasn't using too much powder, my Bosch machine just didn't like it. After a few poor washes the powder has been relegated to the back of the cupboard, for emergency use only, incase one day I run out of tablets. No way will this sample induce me to swap from the far superior cleaning power of Fairy or Finish Tablets. Did a good job diluted to clean the floor of my shower though!

My dishwasher is new, therefore I think the problem lies with the product. To overcome this I have chosen the use less of this detergent and for only my very lightly soiled dishes. This product also contains polycarboxylate which can be harmful to aquatic life. My usual choice for powder is usually an eco brand such as Earth Choice or Ecostore so as to reduce my environmental impact. As the product stands I would not purchase this, given that there are Australian options available elsewhere for the same price.

I desperately don't want to pay top $$$ for the leading brands if I can find something cheaper with good results!

My daughter didn't like the smell of it - supposedly lemon-scented, but she found it was too strong and overpowering. However it went away during the wash cycle so not a major issue. It didn't leave any residue which is always a plus. The powder worked OK on her dishes with prior rinsing as instructed but some of her cutlery were still a bit dirty afterwards. Overall my daughter thought the price was very good and it worked ok but not brilliantly for everything. The general consensus on great products is that you shouldn't need to rinse beforehand even though that's a habit I'd find hard to not do. So not sure how it'd perform if you didn't rinse as the instructions indicate you should do on heavily soiled plates/containers, as well as the negative of wasting excess water in the process. At the end of the day she still prefers her normal Eco brand powder so she probably wouldn't buy this again.

This means it is very economical as you only need a capful which is apparently 20 grams and the bottle is 1kg so my maths says this is 50 washes which works out to only 8 cents a wash. Bargain!We buy the other brand purely because of it's perfume free so as soon as I saw this sample was 'Lemon scented' we baulked first before thinking it over and begrudgingly hitting accept. So glad we did as we are super sensitive to perfumes and fragrances and we can barely smell the lemon at all. Would be better if they just left it out altogether.
