For emergency use only! I was very excited to give this product a try. It's been a long time since I've used dishwasher powder since converting to the tablets. I found the tablets far excelled the powder when I started using them 10 or 12 years ago. I was hoping that powder had come along since then and improved in performance. Sadly not. I tried a few washes, happy to give the first disappointing result the benefit of the doubt. General results were the same every time. Bottom shelf of completed dishwasher was mostly clean, a few bits stuck to a few plates that needed to be soaked then hand washed. Worst was the top shelf. Clean mugs became stained inside after washing. Tannins from tea & coffee seemed to bake themselves into the ceramic of the mugs. A lot of ...Ā MoreFor emergency use only! Not sure I want to re-wash dishes that should be cleaned. Lumps of claggy paste stuck to the inside of the dishwasher door after each wash was completed. Nope, I wasn't using too much powder, my Bosch machine just didn't like it. After a few poor washes the powder has been relegated to the back of the cupboard, for emergency use only, incase one day I run out of tablets. No way will this sample induce me to swap from the far superior cleaning power of Fairy or Finish Tablets. Did a good job diluted to clean the floor of my shower though!

Chinese Dishwashing Powder. I use both tablets and powder for my dishwasher. I reserve tablets for a long/normal wash and powder for eco/short cycle. I usually go for name brands, rather than the home brand, but at the height of the pandemic in 2020 when people were panic buying I was compelled to buy the Coles and Aldi no name brands which were both cheap, but better still they were made in Australia. This brand from Woolies unfortunately is made in China. It costs the same as the Australian Coles brand at $3. 90 and I would always choose Australian over Chinese. My dishwasher is new, therefore I think the problem lies with the product. To overcome this I have chosen the use less of this detergent and for only my very lightly soiled dishes. This product also contains polycarboxylate which can be harmful to aquatic life. My usual choice for powder is usually an eco brand such as Earth Choice or Ecostore so as to reduce my environmental impact. As the product stands I would not purchase this, given that there are Australian options available elsewhere for the same price.

Dishes were clean. I was looking forward to trying this dishwashing powder as Iām usually switching between brands and trying to find a favourite cleaner for the dishes. The price is $3. 90 for 1 kilo powder, which works out cheaper than the tablets Iām currently using. I found that it cleaned just as well as the more expensive branded tablets and my plates seemed to have a good sparkle and shine. There were no water spots and no residue remaining in the dishwasher. Since it is a powder, it is a bit fiddly to use, you have to measure it out into the cap and then fill your dispenser. There are times when Iāve accidentally poured extra powder outside the dispenser and that needed to be cleaned, but I think this just needs practice using a powder. Good, not great. I am new to having a dishwasher in my home (yay!). So far I have only tried this powder and the Fairy tablets. I can say there is definitely a difference between the two - this powder came off second best unfortunately. I guess it probably is a matter of 'you get what you pay for' (which isn't good news as the Fairy tablets are super expensive). I made sure to read the directions on the back of the bottle, and measured out the appropriate amount per load. The first load I did, there was a bit of powder left in the compartment, but I think that was likely a pot blocking the powders exit rather than a fault with the powder itself. Each load I have done thereafter has cleared the compartment properly. I have found some dishes have stubborn stains ...Ā MoreGood, not great. I am new to having a dishwasher in my home (yay!). Each load I have done thereafter has cleared the compartment properly. I have found some dishes have stubborn stains remaining when using this product, and that is using different cycles too - I have not had a fully clean load using heavy, normal, eco and fast cycles. There is also a certain convenience with not having to measure out powder too, so given the cleaning results and ease of use, I will probably purchase a tablet going forward. I do see that there are Shine tablets also available, so I will give them a go to see how they compare to this. I desperately don't want to pay top $$$ for the leading brands if I can find something cheaper with good results!
A good product. I have used the Shine tablets in my dishwasher for some time and have had a very positive experience with them. Equally, the Shine powder has delivered the same capable washing. While I prefer the tablets simply for convenience, it has not been a bother to measure the powder into the cap. If an accidental overflow occurs, my dishwasher door captures the powder, so not to render a "mess". I found the powder as efficient as the tablets. The reason I chose Shine tablets some time ago in the supermarket was primarily the cost as compared to other brands which appeared to become more costly at the time of every repurchase, all promoting whiz bang expectations. The odour appears to me to be almost a neutral odour. I will continue to purchase the Shine tablets as I am very happy with them. If anyone prefers a powder in their machine then I feel this is a good washing powder. Thankyou "Bunch" for allowing me to try the powder.
Reasonable Cleaning Ability. This is a good price for the quantity and the blue container was easy to find on the store shelf. A nice compact size for easy storage that didn't take up a lot of room in the cupboard. We don't have a dishwasher - yes I know, old-fashioned wash out dishes by hand - so asked my daughter to test this for me. I liked that the bottle was recyclable but did not like that it was made in China and not Australia. My daughter didn't like the smell of it - supposedly lemon-scented, but she found it was too strong and overpowering. However it went away during the wash cycle so not a major issue. The instructions were clear and concise and easy to read. She said it was easy to measure out the quantity and transfer across to the machine dispenser. ...Ā MoreReasonable Cleaning Ability. The instructions were clear and concise and easy to read. She said it was easy to measure out the quantity and transfer across to the machine dispenser. It didn't leave any residue which is always a plus. The powder worked OK on her dishes with prior rinsing as instructed but some of her cutlery were still a bit dirty afterwards. Overall my daughter thought the price was very good and it worked ok but not brilliantly for everything. The general consensus on great products is that you shouldn't need to rinse beforehand even though that's a habit I'd find hard to not do. So not sure how it'd perform if you didn't rinse as the instructions indicate you should do on heavily soiled plates/containers, as well as the negative of wasting excess water in the process. At the end of the day she still prefers her normal Eco brand powder so she probably wouldn't buy this again.
The dishwasher is the heart of my home . I was excited when I saw I got this sample of dishwasher powder concentrate. Hand washing dishes & pots/pans is one household chore I donāt enjoy doing. I have never used dishwashing powder before, always tablets. One capful is all thatās needed to wash your dishes. Slightly disappointed as my stainless steel pots didnāt come out sparkling clean. I think we are finish-ed with the previous brand now! Wow what a surprise this Shine is. First it only cost $3. 90 compared to the expensive brand we normally use. This means it is very economical as you only need a capful which is apparently 20 grams and the bottle is 1kg so my maths says this is 50 washes which works out to only 8 cents a wash. Bargain! We buy the other brand purely because of it's perfume free so as soon as I saw this sample was 'Lemon scented' we baulked first before thinking it over and begrudgingly hitting accept. So glad we did as we are super sensitive to perfumes and fragrances and we can barely smell the lemon at all. Would be better if they just left it out altogether. You can smell the slight lemon when you open the bottle but when the dishwasher has finished thankfully we couldn't smell it. We have done a couple of washes to test this out and perfect every time so just as good as the brand I will 'finish' using and start using this instead. Instructions says to give things a wash and scrape before going in the dishwasher. If I was going to do that I might as well hand wash them. I do scrape off big stuff but never going to bother rinsing them. If they are still dirty just means to put the dishwasher on again. Big thumbs up to this and yes will be getting this again.
Not the best. I got this item out of pure desperation. The Strike tablets were not available and all of the other products on the shelf were incredibly expensive, so I figured I would get a bottle of this powder to get me through until the tablets come back or I find something on special. The price is the best part of this item, but I actually don't feel comfortable using it after the first couple of washes. I found a powdery residue on my dishes once they were washed after the first load. I tried it again hoping it was some sort of one-off, but no, the residue was back. It meant I had to rinse everything off after they had been washed as I am not at all keen for anyone to consume whatever the residue is with their food or drinks. It is certainly not as convenient as a tablet when it comes to getting it into the dishwasher. On top of this there were a few items that came out not fully clean, so just as well I was having to rinse everything off anyway. I really don't see myself buying this again. For peace of mind that I am not potentially poisoning my family I would rather pay the outrageous amount for other dishwashing products as this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
Works well but messy. This is my first time using dishwashing powder. I normally use the tablets, which is conveniently pre-measured but uses excessive plastic packaging. The results surprised me. With pre-rinsing, everything came out clean and streak-free. There was no powder left in the dispenser nor any part of the machine insides. Price wise, I would say this product is extremely cost saving. It says 1kg on the bottle. Assuming that's the net weight of the contents, and if you follow instructions to measure the powder using the inner cap, that's 20g per wash. That's 50 washes per $3. 90 bottle, which brings us to 7. 8 cents per wash theoretically. However, one big downside to using powder is the mess around the neck of the bottle as you replace the cap after using it to measure the amount needed for a wash (See photo attached). I guess switching to eyeballing the amount or pouring the powder into a measuring spoon would solve this problem. I might try Shine dishwasher tablets instead ($12. 50/100pk) for 12. 5 cents per wash.
