Quality helmet as always with the top-end Shoei products.Definitely not the lightest dirtbike helmet out there, but it’s well made & well ventilated.I didn’t experience any of the issues with the liner that the previous reviewer noted, will update if this changes with more use.

This has been my primary helmet since the end of 2019 - I rode the 80% desert/20% moto for a year and then switched to 90% moto/10% desert for a year. Took a hard fall last month - swapped out, high-sided, and slammed my whole right side into the ground. Hit my head really hard and was dazed for a bit, seeing stars etc but was able to get up, collect myself and the bike, and head home. Ended up with a Bennet fracture in my right thumb and some serious whiplash to my neck but NO head injuries. I attribute that to this VFX-EVO helmet. Been nursing the Bennet fracture off the bike for a month and sent the helmet in for SHOEI's free inspection service - it came back with a letter stating the EPS liner was damaged and they recommend replacing. Definitely worth the cost ... MoreThis has been my primary helmet since the end of 2019 - I rode the 80% desert/20% moto for a year and then switched to 90% moto/10% desert for a year. Definitely worth the cost of the helmet knowing I can take that hard of an impact to the dome and have no head injury. The free inspection service is great for peace of mind and I do know someone who sent the helmet in for inspection and SHOEI confirmed it was still safe so I believe they are honest too.

Liner is garbage. The two plastic tabs that hold the top of the liner into the front of the helmet break and every time you take the helmet off the whole liner comes out. I reached out to Shoei and they told me its a wear item and needs replaced. New liner lasted maybe 3 weeks before same issue, $70 for a new liner with the same issue. Amazed that a world class helmet liner is so horrible.

For decades now, I've never spend more than $350 for any of my helmets. I've rung my bell more than once, but have no complaints on any of these previous purchases, other than long term comfort and mediocre fit. I decided to go big $$$ on my next helmet purchase. Tried Ariat/KLIM/Shoei/Astar etc... all the top tier ones. It looks like I straddle the size gap at 57.8, so I went with Medium. Snug fit, but, it works..and the shell was smaller. I went with Shoei VFX EVO. Felt the best on my skeletor skull and if it's good enough for Spurge, then I'll splurge on the Shoei VFX EVO.
I bought my first bike in 2008. Bought a helmet with the bike, a Shoei, that was on sale. It fit and felt great. As the years went on I tried other helmets on. None felt like a Shoei. To this day it is the only helmet I'll buy.I have always wanted a dirt bike. I finally get one. I knew exactly what brand helmet to get. This thing does not disappoint. Fits true to size, I measured my head and went by the size chart. I forget I have it on like other Shoei helmets I've had. Graphics look great. Fit and finish is top of the line. Plenty of vents. No pressure points. Plenty of safety features.I would buy again and again. Fast shipping. On sale. Buy it.-m-1999 KAWASAKI KX250--
So immediately upon trying this helmet on, I decided this is one of the best looking helps out there, no argument. The snell rating was nice to see too. Everything was very well built and you could tell it was as you'd expect of handmade Japanese quality.Initially however, my complaint was the helmet felt just a bit too tight (I'm a medium). I tried a large at a local shop and realized it was definitely too big, so I went back home and wore the medium for an hour straight while I mowed the lawn (comfort/Wright test best also to see how it breathes in heat at low (aka zero) speed. I'm glad I did! The longer I wore it, the more comfortable it has become. After 20 minutes, the cushions formed perfectly to my head, and now I can take it on and off much more ... MoreSo immediately upon trying this helmet on, I decided this is one of the best looking helps out there, no argument. Maybe it was the wearing over time under compression, maybe the heat and sweat helped, IDK, but I can't wait to bring it to the woods with my Sur Ron and see how it breathes at speed!
I bought this helmet to replace a very old Shoei V-moto that lasted me years. The new helmet has grown in leaps and bounds in comfort and venting. I wanted an offroad riding helmet and a helmet that I could ride on my adventure bike to work here in Hawaii where the speed limit is never very high and the heat and humidity is usually off the charts. One thing that was essential for riding on the road was to adjust the peak downward because it generates significant lift over 40mph when in the highest position, its not bad when you adjust it down. I also notice a significant amount more noise than my Schuberth full face helmet, but that is to be expected with the added ventilation. very comfortable and great looking helmet.
My advice is to find a helmet that fits you right. For me, it's Shoei. I have several of them for street use, but I wanted a new dirt helmet so decided to get the best. This helmet isn't cheap, but in solid colors it's a great value. It fits my head perfect, is light weight and ventilates well. Also has many notable safety features such as a quick release lining (for a paramedic to remove the helmet from your head without upsetting the neck) and also plastic screws in the visor that are meant to break in the event of a crash. Shoei helmets are all made by hand... This is simply top of the line stuff.PROS: Good Visibility, Lightweight, Comfortable Padding, Adequate Ventilation, Void Of Pressure PointsBEST USES: Off-Road, Everyday Rides, Protection, Racing
I'm just getting back into off-road/adventure riding after a 20 year layoff, prior to that I raced motocross for many years as well as a bit of flat track and ice. I was going to get an adventure helmet, but nothing I wanted was available so I went with my old standby - the Shoei motocross helmet. I've always worn Shoei helmets as they fit so well and are so comfortable. This one did not disappoint! It fits like a dream, The size charts puts me right in the middle between a large an XL. I opted for the XL and it fits perfectly.
Hurt to swallow the price but after putting on the helmet, it's understood why. Unbelievable comfort with this helmet, and comforting knowing you will be protected with both a dot and even better, a Snell approval. You can't put a price on safety, especially when it comes to your head. Only thing I wish for was I use a Sena intercom system and with the design of the helmet, makes it slightly difficult to find the right position for a secure grip but it is possible.
