Shubb C1K Steel-String Capo (Black)

Shubb Capo Noir Steel String C1k Precisely machined of brass and carefully hand assembled, a Shubb capo is manufactured without compromise. Simply holding one in your hand conveys a sense of quality. Snapping it solidly onto a guitar neck, and then removing it, all within about one second, will confirm its reputation for excellence. Shubb Capos act just like your fingertip. Using a custom rubber material that behaves just like the skin on your fingertip, it allows the string to sink into the rubber just enough for it to relax and not be stretched across the fret like normal capos. Meaning that the strings are not stretched out of tune and no re-tuning is required. The problem of stretched, sharp strings that normally occurs with most other capos isn't a problem with Shubb Capos. The Shubb Capo closes onto the neck just like your hand does meaning there is no sideways pull on the strings, resulting in no tuning issues. Unique among adjustable capos the Shubb Capo allows you to simply adjust the screw to the right amount of pressure for your instrument, then ''set it and forget it'' meaning that you will get the same ideal, consistent and repeatable pressure each time without having to manually apply the same amount of pressure each time you use your capo like before.

I use a capo quite a bit. I have one in every guitar case.I like the fact that they don't extend past the fret board.this allows the ability to get to some chords that need to be up around the first fret.and I like that they come in different shades

First one was a gift. This on I bought!

Not being able to mount the Schubb C-Series capo on the guitar head (like my old Kysers) and sometimes needing both hands to re-position the capo does take a little getting use to.Keeping capo in my pocket is NOT convenient as the Irish Trad groups I play with SIT to play!. But sewing a small ribbon loop inside my woven guitar strap has solved that problem. It takes two seconds to hook the long bar of the capo thru the loop and I'm off to the next set of tunes. Capo keeps firm equal pressure and my Taylor is sounding just fine, thank you!

Maybe it was a lemon?

I bought the brass one for my vintage Guild 6-string as the 12-string aluminum capo had served me so well. This capo was tarnished but I forgave that. I could not forgive the fact that this thing couldn't seem to exert equal pressure on the strings. I would have the bass strings ringing out when I played, but the treble strings would be muted. I would then adjust the screw to tighten and then the bass strings would be pitched up an extra semitone from where they were supposed to be. This was the case no matter how much I tinkered with it.Thankfully Musician's Friend was kind enough to send me a replacement D'Addarrio capo that works great.

Probably The Best Capo Out There
18 June 2019

This is the capo you want. The way you can adjust the tension is just amazing if you use your capo down near the 5th or 7th fret like I do for Stones songs. I've used a Kyser quick change capo for years and this is far better. The Kyser is good for acoustics but it grabs the strings too hard on a Tele down on the lower frets and takes it out of tune. I'm not knocking the Kyser, it has served me well but I like this better. Also, (and this is just a personal preference) I don't like a bunch of stuff clamped on the headstock of my guitars whether it be capos and tuners or whatever. This thing is really sleek and looks great, but it's hardly even visible to anyone in front of you. There's no need to have the ability to clamp this on your headstock because it's so small and light you can just put it in your pocket when you're done and get on with it. The mechanism works great. I got the all-black one and it looks dope on all of my guitars. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with this

Shubb Capos 100% Reliable

I have a Shubb capo for each of my instruments, Martin D42 guitar and Stelling sunflower banjo. Absolutely terrific device that keeps my instruments in tune. Wherever I place them up and down the neck.

Superb Capo
14 August 2011

After reading mixed reviews on leading makes and models of trigger capos, the Schubb Original C Series model seemed to be the logical, more sensible alternative.A question for all you acoustic guitar-playing worship leaders: Just how quickly do you need to apply a capo, really? Unless you just got to have a capo that you can apply to the headstock of your guitar, you really ought to give the Schubb serious consideration. Really. So maybe it would take me two seconds longer to pull a Schubb from my back pocket and apply it to the fingerboard of my guitar as it would for you to undo a trigger capo from the headstock of your guitar and apply it to the fingerboard. Maybe. Do you really move from one song to another in a different key that quickly?Consider Schubb. ... MoreAfter reading mixed reviews on leading makes and models of trigger capos, the Schubb Original C Series model seemed to be the logical, more sensible alternative.A question for all you acoustic guitar-playing worship leaders: Just how quickly do you need to apply a capo, really? Maybe. Do you really move from one song to another in a different key that quickly?Consider Schubb. Seriously.I decided to go with this capo after reading reviews that the slightly more expensive Deluxe S series was not as good as Original C-Series, which sounded good to me as I had used a similar model Schubb on my acoustic guitar in the mid- to late-80s to great satisfaction. In fact, my wife still has the same model for her 12-string acoustic. The fact that the C-Series is available in Black Chrome was all I needed to know to go with a Schubb for my Carvin AE185.The packaging for the black chromed capo is labeled "Capo Noir ...C1k" with an image of a black cat on the backside. For you acoustic guitarists who aren't particularly inclined to consider a Schubb over a trigger capo, consider the following: a) a Schubb is fully adjustable, allowing for minimal pressure to be applied to any fret with virtually no retuning; b) a Schubb isn't going to blow apart on stage as a trigger capo might; c) a Schubb may be placed away from the upper fretwire of the fret to which the capo is applied and thus, substantially out of the way of your fingers and without causing any string buzz; d) unlike a trigger capo that applies the same amount of pressure regardless of which fret it's situated on (i.e., regardless of neck width), a Schubb may be finely adjusted to apply only the amount of pressure actually needed; e) a Schubb is substantially smaller than a trigger capo and while it can't be quickly affixed to and left on the headstock, it doesn't hang out from or beneath the neck, plus there are things called pockets into which a Schubb may be kept as well as music stands upon which a Schubb may rest until needed. In writing this review soon after receiving the capo, I can't speak for its longevity, though indications are that it's built just as well, if not better than, the Schubb I used in the 80s and thus, I presume it will last a good long time.Considering the quality, its utility, and its features, it's seems priced about right.

This is the capo you've been looking for.
19 August 2019

I've played guitar for 23 years now. The problem with almost EVERY other CAPO out there is that they are either too weak to get a clean sound out, or too strong and make the notes go sharp. The Shubb Capo allows you to tweak the tension to perfection. It's curve in the cushioning allows you to get a perfectly tuned note that is clear and crisp. There is no other capo worth your time and money. Get this one now. You won't regret it. ~Kelly Guitar Teacher

Works smoothly
11 January 2021

Its slightlu diffetent to shubbs standard model in that it has a spring loaded weel instead of the usual rubber pin. But its just as smooth and flawless as other models. Ive used shubbs on my mandolin and spanish guitar and liked them so wanted this for my steel strings. Works great on all my acoustics (not tried on a 12 string yet) and electrics. Its solid. Good quality.

it is what it is

It works as described. Easy to use. Takes up minimal space. Used on dreadnought acoustic . Only thing i dislike is it takes 2 hands. Or it takes me 2 hands. So 4 out of 5 isn't bad.

❤️ this capo

I picked this one out cause I did a little research and found this was on the top of the list as for what I needed...I did do some more research on Shubb's capos or I would of ordered the roller style capos they have...But, as for this capo, it's still a winner...My first capo was from the early 60's and nothing like this, so if I could take my old capo off and on fairly quickly, this will be a snap once I get used to it..Easy to figure out how to properly mount it and it doesn't interfere with my movement...This is an original style from Shubb's, so even though they've improved on their design, this one is one you'll keep forever..Oh, did I mention it's got a lifetime warranty where either they'll send you the part needed or you can send it in for repairs...
