Shubb C2 Standard Nylon String Guitar Capo - Nickel

The Shubb C5BN Banjo Capo features innovative design that allows for a superbly easy and speedy experience when clamping it to your instrument. Its over-centre locking action provides unbeatable accuracy whilst ensuring the capo stays securely in place, so you can perform fearlessly without anything holding you back. And you won't be burdened by stretched strings or dodgy tuning. The C5BN's custom rubber material forms a soft surface for your strings to sink into, meaning they'll be clamped securely but not in a way that causes sideways pulls and tuning problems. You won't have to keep readjusting the pressure either; using the screw, you can control the tension on the banjo neck, and it will stay this way every time you play. Everything you need. In one sleek, premium-quality capo.

Best on the market.

When using a capo it is necessary that it provide enough tension to keep the strings, especially the bass strings, from buzzing. Any more tension than the minimum necessary to accomplish that does tend to de-tune the guitar by raising its pitch. The Shubb design is the only capo that I have ever used or seen that can be precision adjusted to apply just enough tension to effect the key change without unnecessary de-tuning. All other designs use springs to apply the tension so must be designed to always apply enough tension where the neck is thinnest so must apply more than the minimum necessary. The Shubb has no springs and its tension is fully adjustable. It is also compact and stays out of the players way when being used.

Best quality capo I've used!

The Shubb capos are the best quality out there for the price. They are adjustable so you can dial in the right tension. They feel solid and like a fine machine when using them, not just like a tight clamp you're releasing on your guitar. Bonus that the rubber parts on this capo are replaceable so when they get worn, you don't have to replace the capo like you would with others. I use Shubb on all my different guitars. Highly recommend.

Having played guitars since 1966 I have lots of guitars and on a 41 year old acoustic guitar with a flat fingerboard I was using an old Hamilton capo. My wife just took up playing guitar and plays a small classical guitar with a flat fingerboard. I offered her use of my old Hamilton capo but she was too weak to squeeze it to put it on. All my other capos are only for rounded fingerboards. I use a Shubb capo on a banjo so decided to buy her one for the classical guitar. It was so easy to put on due to the adjustable design that she loves it. So I decided to try one on my 41 year old guitar. She was right. It works wonderfully. Excellent service. I will visit Musician's Friend again!
1 June 2016

The service I have received since becoming a recent member of Musician's Friend has been outstanding. I ordered a TKL case for my SG standard and a Shubb C-Series capo. The shipping was free. I received my TKL case within a few days and the same for the capo. The capo is wonderful in these ways: 1. the tension adjustment gives me excellent control over pitch variation regardless of neck position; 2. the length of the capo bracing surface assures no worry in string coverage; and, 3. The option to order in the brass color is very pleasing to me aesthetically. Thanks Musician's Friend. I will be visiting you again in the future.

I have the old one, but the function is the same.IT IS JUST FOR FLAT SCALE PROFILE.It's good not having any spring. The rubber doesn't loose or cracks. It's the better capo I've ever tried.

Review of Shubb C2 Capo for Nylon Strung Guitars
20 January 2016

I like Shubb capos. This version is for nylon strung guitars, and is therefore wide and flat. It works well on my Spanish flamenco guitar. Curiously, it only just fits onto this (and other) guitars, it being a necessity to unscrew the adjusting screw to the maximum amount before it will fit over the neck of the guitar. I'm guessing this might create problems on a guitar with a particularly thick neck.

Sleek and elegant smoothness in the design, small fits in pocket
14 November 2018

Smooth metal. Nice design -- the clamp works smoothly. The capo is nice and small, easy to carry in my pocket. If your neck is much thicker as it goes toward 12th fret you might have trouble getting the adjustment right, or may have to readjust it should you need to capo so high. This is never a problem for me as I rarely capo above the 5th fret.

The best capo
11 April 2021

Adjustable tension is very important for a nylon-string capo unless you want to spend all your time retuning the guitar. I already own the older version with the pin and it's been my capo of choice. This newer version with the wheel is even better, easier to adjust, and for some reason cheaper. It's almost unbreakable (like any capo made of metal) so it's worth the extra money as long as you don't lose it.

The perfect capo
17 September 2014

It's a Shubb capo for a classical guitar - which means it delivers all the simple perfect easy to use lovely performance I've been getting from Shubb capos for 25 years on my steel string acoustics in a capo meant for a flat fingerboard.I'll put it this way - I started using a Shubb in 1989 for my primary (working/gigging/reach-for-first) guitar. I'm on my fourth primary guitar now, but I'm still using the same Shubb capo. It works, it's hassle-free, and maybe you can't use it one-handed but since it doesn't throw my guitar out of tune and it's small and light and unobtrusive, who cares?
