Wicked sharp, great balance. Truly a pleasure to use. Had been a Wustof user for years, after seeing these, figured I'd give it a go. Beautiful and very functional. Single slice through a roast, tenderloin, etc. - can't go wrong with this piece. Now to collect more Shun knives!

I give this carving/slicing knife five stars. It is very sharp, long, balanced, and narrow with dimples, so that the meat slices do not stick to it. I love Shun's classic handle. The knife feels secure in my hand, unlike wood, it will not dry and split, and unlike straight plastic handles, it does not feel cheap and flimsy. Buy quality, care for them, and keep them for years.
This is a great slicing and carving blade. Cleans as easily as it cuts. Sharp and holds a good edge. Steels smoothly.
An awesome knife. Food doesn't stick from the dents. The weight is good, feels nice in my hand. It doesn't slip out of my hand even though I have to wear gloves. It was easy sharpening with a whetstone. It's very pretty, too.cons: It doesn't hold a very good edge though. Either I'm using it wrong or I have to sharpen it every other day...My particular knife came with the shun logo smeared off
