Fantastic crop sensor lens. Feels like a fast nifty fifty. Using on the fx30 as a perfect lightweight cinematic package. The focus by wire isnt great for manual focus - but if I wanted manual Id go for a set of geared cinema primes - this is a great autofocus run and gun combination.

The lens operates well so far and seems to be in good condition. The choice of packaging was awful. The style of paper / cardboard inside used to protect and stop the lens moving around created micro particles / dust all over the lens. Given this is a precision bit of equipment with moving parts I wasn't happy with that. No doubt some dust would have made its was into the component parts. I considered returning the lens for this reason alone

This lens is a joy to use and produces beautiful images. Distortion is prominent but doesn’t always need correcting. Issues with CA exist but are nowhere near as bad as I was lead to believe. It didn’t always show up and was nearly as intrusive as my Nikon 35mm 1.8 DX.My only real frustration, and this isn’t a ding against the lens, is that my lens appears to have been opened and has a cleaning mark/scratch and a lot of dust/debris on the front element when in the right lighting. It doesn’t appear to affect the images but I will probably clean the front element since there seems to be so much haze and dust that I didn’t notice until last night. You can see in the attached images how clean the lens appeared to be in normal light so it makes sense that I didn’t see the mark at first. I could also see how someone inspecting the lens before putting it back in stock if it was returned would overlook it as well. Still, kinda put a damper on my enjoyment of the purchase.

I had this lens once before. Sold when I sold a camera. Recently bought a Leica SL2 and wanted a lightweight inexpensive normal lens. Immediately bought this lens for a second time.Lightweight. Lovely color and contrast rendering. Snappy auto focus on the SL2. Granted the image files are reduced to 20MP on the SL2. However even with 20MP one can still print 20x30 inches.Bottom line I highly recommend this Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens.
The EOS M series is gone, but for those of us who still have the cameras and treasure the portability and discreteness of M series cameras, this is a useful normal range lens. It's large compared to many of the Canon EF-M offerings but not that large and does not unbalance the camera in the way that most EF or EF-S lenses plus the adapter do. The f/1.4 aperture provides good low light performance, advantageous in a camera without sensor stabilization and not the greatest high ISO performance. It autofocuses well and quickly on the M50 Mark II, it even works as well as any EF-M lens on the old EOS M. Good sharpness and minor distortion make for a very useful lens.
I own the 16mm and 56mm lenses. They are amazing! This lens is great too, but I found myself not really needing it. However, I'm giving the lens 5 stars because it offers versatility, especially if you are short on funds, but want professional looking pictures. You can do landscape and portraits, and the lens is small and compact. The AF dances, here and there, but the pics look pretty sharp and the bokeh is creamy as pie.
This lens is straight-up great, sharpness at any stop is very good and vignetting is minimal in f1.4. Compared to the Sony Kit lens is considerably heavier, but definitely feels high quality considering its price.This is my first lens aside from the Sony Kit lens and I am very satisfied with this lens and cannot recommend it enough.The only thing I don't love is the weight, considering that I use it mostly for travel, but even with the weight it does add some premium feeling to it, so it's not that of an issue.
I expected this series of lenses to all perform equally but that is not the case. I have had the 56mm version and it is dead silent, tack sharp with very nice bokeh and creates an overall nice photo. With my first sigma Nikon z DC DN 30mm I purchased from a different vendor, the motor was much more audible, it hunted slightly for focus and does some focus breathing. I sent it back and assumed it was a one off defect but with my second one that I purchased through B&H it does essentially the same thing but slightly better with the finding focus, it still hunts and breaths a little although the motor is a little less audible but it is not the same quality as the 56mm from the same product line.
