A great lens for taking pictures of animals, cars and detailed historical places. I recently took this lens to Rome and it was fantastic at the Bioparco di Roma and Pompeii for getting up close to the animals and ancient Roman mosaics! For the £98 it cost its fantastic and it works well with my entry model nikon.Quite heavy, which is expected for a lens of this size and the focus noise can be annoying when taking pictures in a quiet environment.

Good Value For Your Money

I purchase this lens immediately before going on a trip up north. I was shooting on a Nikon D3300 and I am currently saving for a new camera but wanted a new lens to shoot macro with.While this lens is not true macro it gets very close with 2:1. The images I got where good and it was able to capture very good detail considering its low cost.The only real problem I had with this camera is that the design is very inefficient. There is a switch to toggle between macro and regular zoom, and in order to return to regular you must change your focus back to infinity.As a result it will not work well if you are going to be taking a lot of different pictures from a lot of different distances in a short amount of time. Good base zoom

Pros: AF speed, Range, valueCons: Af Accuracy, MacroOther thoughts: I have to say first that I paid a really good price on this. I review it from that perspective. If I had paid full retail for it I would be much more critical. This is a general pupose zoom. The performance is not that great comparing to onther lenses I have but, considering the price, it is an interesting addition to my equipment. The AF performance is just so so. It searches for the right focus for some time and gets it wrong some of it. It suffers more in macro mode than in general landscape. I was actually positively surprised by some portraits I did from a party (starting at 70mm it is most usefull outside). The pictures had a good bouquet...

Great Lens for the money. Purchased it for my wife, she's very happy with the performance!

I did do spec checks in comparison to the Tamron lens of the same specs. The Sigma scored slightly better in one of 5 category. It also rated a lower end Nikon zoom all were basically the same except the Sigma was slightly better in one category. She was looking for the macro feature which the Nikon didn't have. Her previous zoom was the Tamron but she accidently banged it getting out a car and so the auto focus stopped working. She had been pleased with the Tamron lens. I have used Sigma lenses in the past and I thought we'd give it a try and the results have been quite good.

Great budget telephoto

This lens is a fantastic bargain! Images are sharp and bright from <200mm and f11-wide open. Best results at 100mm f8. Keep in mind this lens does not have stabilization, so bump your shitter speed and push ISO to keep the shakes to a minimum. Focus is pretty fast. Motor noise is louder than modern offerings from Nikon/Canon, but not objectionable and on par with older lenses. Would recommend for a telephoto on the cheap.

Review of 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens - for Nikon

Good Points: Lovely clear pictures taken with this lens.Now i'm able to from from 55mm right up to 70/300mm lens if I want close ups..The macro helps loads for me cos I wanted to take better closeup photo of insects and textures.Though I'm a novice it is worth it to me. As for a professional may have their diff of opinion.Improvement Points: Not really a bad point. But the noise from zooming in or out it quite loud.But then again If I don't hear it then something must be going wrong with the lens.You get used to it and ignore it through time.

Sigma 70-300 MM DG Macro a Quality Lens

Not to confuse with the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro the DG Macro is the cheaper version of this style of lens. The pictures are sharp but, the color boque of the optics is lacking. Sigma lens's are built ruggedly sound and, the one I bought works great. I have Nikon cameras D70,D200 and,D5200. I prefer Sigma len's over any non Nikon lens. For the price you really cannot beat the quality. I also own a 150-500 mm HSM OS from Sigma too. If you cannot afford a high end lens of this type. This Sigma lens would be my choice and so there you have it......................I guess that's why I purchased this lens..

Just purchased this lens to play around with outside my primary genre of shooting which is wide angle landscapes).All the gear I use now was purchased in a trade with Adorama, it includes a D610 and Nikor 18-35mm. I always feell comfortable purchasing from them as they have always delivered.So the Sigma is priced inexpensive and fits the bill for me to play around with some telephoto type shooting, I am hoping some protrait stuff. Anyway it did not disappoint on my first outing which also included a Hoya ND8 58mm purchased at the same time.The lens functions well, it is kind of long for me right now but I got used to it quick. Value for money

During lockdown I decided that I was missing my old NIKON D40 dslr and decided to buy another. I found one that was virtually brand new, only 2700 shutter actuations, but needed a lens to go with it. The lens that I bought from WEX is ideal. It looks as though it has had no heavy use, focusing is both accurate and quiet and although I haven't used it in macro mode yet I fully expect it to deliver all the flexibility I'm looking for. All in all a very good value for money purchase.

is it worth it yes its worth it

better than the tamron equivalent this is a cheap cheerful lens that give very good results on macro shots were you don't love the subject creature. It is fiddly to swap between macro and normal settings and i mean fiddly select manual focus and set the lens midway through its macro range the wiggle your focus and zoom and switch at the same time all a bit awkward. That being said it can deliver good maybe great results in macro shot at about f16 for depth of field and high iso i like this lens on my d500/d810 ............
