A big canvas for big moments. 61 megapixels. The highest resolution presented by SIGMA.Leveraging our knowhow of image processing technology on Foveon sensors. Thanks to the ultra-high resolution, SIGMA fp L is able to unleash your imagination and feature a low-pass filter to make a further contribution to the optical performance. The SIGMA fp L features a Bayer sensor with approximately 61 effective megapixels, higher than any other SIGMA camera before it. In addition to images with fine details, the fp L is capable of creating images that are high-definition and rich in colour, thanks to its ultra-high pixel count and SIGMA's experience in developing cameras with a Foveon sensor, are renowned for both the exceptional resolving power and nuanced colour gradients due to the unique nature of the X3 sensor. Furthermore, for its image quality that are in principle free of colour artifacts, the Foveon sensor legacy was also behind the decision that the fp L should have a low-pass filter to reduce moiré to minimum levels. The use of a low-pass filter was a choice that made sense for a camera with an ample megapixels such as the SIGMA fp L.

I have had this camera for about a month or so. I have read it is horrible in low light. I haven't found that to be so. Are we saying low light or no light? There is a difference.I will say this. I cranked up this guy to 1/125 at an ISO of 12800. The photos came out beautiful. There's some noise at that high of an ISO but... the picture is so large you can't see it squashed to 3000 pixels. I have provided some imagery below to show the High ISO and some during the day into the Sun with an ND filter. The camera stills are pretty amazing, I love the color science. Rolling shutter is something to be desired though but that's to be expected of most any mirrorless camera with no mechanical shutter.Lets talk about having to rig it. (A gripe from every influencer out there.) Yet they still buy the competition and rig it out anyway. I am a video producer / cinematographer by trade. There hasn't been a time in my career where I didn't pull focus, connect an external monitor system of some sort or write to a giant card or external card on you guessed it... a rig. That's the life of cinematographers. So with this small camera I find it amazing that I can get a highly portable professional rig to put in places larger rigs could only dream of fitting in.Who is this for? This is for someone who has their main video rig for their pro gigs and needs a crazy amazing B cam or second cam that can also shoot behind the scenes photography. This is for the hobbyist / cinematographer / content creator who wants that movie quality look easily without having to drop $5K-$10K for full frame cinema quality footage at 12-14 bit. Note that I said Full Frame. I know the BMPCC exists but unfortunately it has a Micro 4/3 crop. The camera definitely takes some getting used to. Its not for everyone. If you want to run and gun. It will do it, but slower than most. I am not gonna say its the best. I did subtract a star for the rolling shutter, and the file sizes are pretty large. Again someone in the business should be prepared for this. For the money and suite of super affordable i-series sigma glass... its hard to beat. Hope this helps someone because there isn't much positive out there for this camera and there should be.

Great photo but I found video to worthless .l do not have this with other l mount cameras.Would pass on this one
I really wanted to like the Sigma FPL but I have to say so far I have really been unimpressed. The ISO low light capabilities are terrible. I took a photo at 800 ISO that was almost impossible to correct in post. The autofocus struggles constantly. The images take 1-2 seconds to transfer to my Sony Tough SD cards. Overall the resolution is not what I expected for a camera that costs this much.
RAW files from the fp L are simply phenomenal. The color, resolution and just something else that brings it all together are amazing. After several hundred still images I'm still kind of shocked at how good they are. B&W conversions are excellent. Dynamic range is outstanding.Yes, the camera is quirky (with the excellent EVF) but it's fairly straightforward to use. It's compact, but of course the lenses can be big. So far, I've used it with the Sigma 14-24/2.8, 24/3.5, 35/2 and Leica SL 50/2.I shoot mostly landscapes, but I've also shot the dog and family without any weird electronic shutter artifacts.I wish the on/off button was a different format, but other than that there's not much else I'd change. The EVF is fiddly to attach, but I like having the option ... MoreRAW files from the fp L are simply phenomenal. The color, resolution and just something else that brings it all together are amazing. I wanted the fp, and waited because of the reviews, and just stuck with my Canon, and Panasonic cameras with nice flippy screens. I'm using an external monitor( DJI Smart Controller that belongs to my Mavic Air 2 running Android so I could download CineEye App to see my fp L display). This thing is awesome! I get a lot more positives than negatives with the fp L. It's really easy to use, and super small. I'm using my other lenses with image stabilization (I still don't own a gimbal) and it does I.S. MOV 59.94p or less internal. Every feature in the manual it states works on my other lenses with half the weight. Auto focus isn't fantastic. It's okay in good light, but this thing can run cinema with no issues, and not overheat(2hrs straight). Currently my favorite lenses are Panasonic 24-105mm with OIS on the fp L, and the SIGMA 45. If you want that look, it will do it, cine mode CDNG, or photo 61MP. I honestly think that it does as much as possible for the size and weight. The photos are awesome. The cinema is fantastic. No complaints.
