I have a pull out trash cabinet with double plastic recycling buckets in the back (one for for regular recycling and one for plastic bags) and have been searching for a sturdy garbage can with a lid that can be opened from the top for the front of the cabinet. After exhaustive research this is the only can that seems to fit within my available space. It is pretty tall but thankfully just clears the cabinet frame. It sits really neat and compact in a corner (the old bin was huge and round so never did fit in the corner) and the liners that come with it fit really snug (well, they would since theyâre rectangular like the bin) and thereâs no baggy liner or overhang either. I am now using a 30L bin liner from Tesco and that fits fine too so you donât have to buy Simplyhuman ones (theyâre quite expensive). Itâs really easy to empty - the inner plastic bin sits comfortably on a ledge while you empty and replace with a new liner which is not entirely necessary but a great idea. The lever to open the lid is really sturdy which is pushed by hand and the lid is shut by hand too and clicks positively shut. You can even use the side of your leg to push the lever if both your hands are full but unless it is leaning against a wall for leverage the bin is too light, doesnât open and just wobbles but Iâm willing to overlook this as I have never had the need to open any bin this way before (perhaps the larger one would cope with this?), besides I reckon an elbow would do the trick if push comes to shove (no pun intended). I love the brushed steel (the old bin was stainless steel (a chrome finish) and needed cleaning constantly. This is a quality bin and although I was initially reluctant to pay ÂŁ100 for a kitchen bin I realised you really do get what you pay for! If you are considering buying a new bin, buy this one - you wonât be disappointed! Dunelm offer an easy click and collect service during the Coronavirus lockdown so need to wait - this was available next day for me.

I had my old bin for 15 years. It was a Brand comparable to Simplehuman. This new bin is a rectangular bin rather than round and fits flush to the wall without the lid hitting the wall. It's 30litre and fit's plenty. Pleased with every aspect of this. It's not a soft close lid but you soon get used to it.

Great bin that looks good in my kitchen. The brushed chrome is modern and compliments my kitchen decor. The 10 bin liners which come with the product fit perfectly. Although any suitable size liners would fit as there's a plastic container inside the metal bin. It isn't fingerprint proof, but these are easily removed or you can use your elbow/arm to open/close the bin to prevent these.
As bins go, it definitely looks good enough not to be hidden away in a cupboard. But looks aren't everything and I was especially attracted to this bin because simplehuman promoted it as being 'fingerprint-proof'. However, no matter how careful I am, this bin resists all my attempts to use it without leaving a fingerprint.It opens easily with a light touch on the top Bar but you have to press the lid down to close it - and that's what leaves fingerprints every time.Apart from that it's well-designed, easy to change the bags and does the job.
Good quality sturdy bin. Lid opens easily and doesn't hit unit behind when open. Bags that came with it fit perfect, will buy these again. The lid does get finger marks on when closing it but they are easily removed with a damp cloth. Fits discreetly into kitchen. More than happy with it and prefer the brushed stainless steel rather than shiny.
I've had this bin a couple of weeks now and it's been a great replacement for our previous cylindrical simple human bin which we'd had for 8 years. (I sadly hadn't registered that one and couldn't find purchase details for the 10yr guarantee).This one fits our space in the kitchen better and the quick release lid is perfect so if I've both hands full of rubbish I can use my knee/hip to quickly release the lid without covering it in whatever I'm holding.It says it is fingerprint resistant, it is to clean hands, but if toddlers have yoghurt remnants or sticky fingers from fruit etc it does leave marks to some degree, however with it being a new shiny bin, cleaning isn't constantly isn't as irritating as it used to be! It narrows toward the bottom with a 'step' feature and has holes in that part so that your bin bag doesn't suffer from the suction hold you can get with ordinary bins (or indeed with our previous simple human bin), you know when you go to empty the bin but end up wrestling with the bag of rubbish and ripping it because the bin refuses to let go, sucking it in tighter the more you pull. This one releases it with ease, I've found myself cleaning it more just to get in the exercise I used to get from wrestling the old one!As with any new item the kids are also taken with it and currently, while still in its 'new pet' stage, they're more than happy to toddle off and put things in it for me.I thought this bin was well worth the price (on sale) for the guarantee that comes with it and don't hesitate to recommend it.

This is my first order with John Lewis, but it definitely won't be my last. The whole process from start to finish was efficient & speedy, with good notifications with tracking information for my order placed. This push bar bin from Simple Human is the best bin i've ever owned. It has an internal 'plastic bin' that you place your 'Simple Human' waste bag into, & it's a lovely snug fit with no unsightly over-hang. The push bar makes it an easy access, especially if you have wet hands as you can open the bin using your elbows, viola! Whilst yes, it is more expensive than other brands, I can tell that this is made to last, so I see it as an investment, you pay for better quality made products in my opinion. Would highly recommend this product brand, & John Lewis Company.â

The metal is very scratched, Iâm disgusted someone had the audacity to rerun this after using it. Iâm disappointed Macys didnât adequately check this upon return as they could have either rejected the return from previous customer or simply put this item off the shelf and into their âdamagedâ or non-sellable section/warehouse whatever. Definitely returning. If it wasnât used I suppose it looks nice and the easy no hands open option is convenient. Itâs smaller than the box makes it look.
