This washer/dryer combo is beautiful and is great for washing large items. However for my typical laundry (cotton tshirts, underwear, nice jeans) I am still trying to figure out how to make it work as well as my previous washer/dryer combo. I with the typical loads I always use cold water and dry at low heat. (I learned many years ago not to put my jeans in the dryer because they will shrink in length over time so I line dry them.) I was surprised to find that the only preset wash program that is suitable for my tshirts and tops is the delicate cycle as it is the only one that allows you to choose cold water. I am still trying to figure out the best Spin choice that will not leave the clothes too wet but not compress them so much that wrinkles are set in.As far as drying the tshirts and tops it falls far short of my older unit that this one replaced. First, NONE of the preset drying programs allow me to choose low heat; I have to use the app to download a Very Delicate program, and I would prefer not to have to use the app - I should be able to make choices in the presets for such a common usage. Second, my previous dryer offered a cool-down period with every heat level that tumbled the load with air only for about 10 minutes before declaring the load to be done. When I pulled the clothes out of the dryer they were unwrinkled and cool to the touch. This dryer has no such feature and even drying on low heat my clothes come out wrinkled; I need to experiment with setting different dry levels but I think that would just result in my clothes coming out damp. The Wrinkle Guard feature helps with not having to take the clothes out immediately but it doesn't make the wrinkles not appear in the first place. My biggest complaint is the amount of time it takes to dry out all of the gaskets to the washer's door after using it. Not only does the inside of the door and the outside of the biggest gasket have to be dried, but great care must be taken to dry the folds of the gasket in the door - there are two of them, and my fingers plus drying towel barely fit in the innermost fold. AND the door must be left open which pretty much makes the unit not compact with respect to the space it takes up. I only dried the inside of the door and the outer gasket plus leaving the door ajar the first couple of times I used it and that was not enough to keep it from having a strong mildew smell. So now I know that I need to schedule an extra 5-10 minutes to dry the washer after finishing the day's wash.Related is the filter at the bottom of the washer which apparently will need to be drained on a regular basis. This is the first time I've seen this in a washer and it is not an easy task. The little hose the comes out isn't long enough so to drain it I have to get a very shallow pan that is large enough to catch all the water or I'll have a wet floor.Another extra maintenance chore is the need to run a washer clean cycle. The manual says to do this once a month but I question whether I need to do it that often as I am a small household of one and I wonder if that frequency would be the same as for a large family. I really don't want to have to do this as I live in a drought prone area and my household water comes from a rainwater collection system. I've never had to do this with a previous washing machine and it seems like a huge waste of water to me.To sum up, my problems with this machine are:1. The necessity to use the app to accomplish routine tasks2. Lack of dryer choices which minimize wrinkles in the preset tasks3. Lack of a cool down cycle (that I can find) with any dryer program4. Washing machine should not have so much residual water which I have to clean out myself to avoid mildew5. Washing machine should not need to be washed out on a regular basis (waste of water and electricity for hot water) and the filter should be easier to empty.

We went through countless troubleshooting steps, watched hours of youtube, spoke to LG Customer Service for a cumulative total of probably 8 hours, even scheduled a tech to come out. I haven’t wanted to bother him because he’s currently on chemo. I finally asked if he could come take a look, and once he disassembled the dryer, he immediately found the problem. The part that creates heat and then blows heat into the drum wasn’t even attached!! So all the heat being generated was blowing into the unit around the drum. He said there was no way that it would’ve “shaken loose” in transit and that whether we bought it from a dealer or the discount store, this issue would’ve still been there.I hope to be able to change my rating but so far, it has been nothing but a headache working with LG for answers and options.

Great unit LG hopefully this holds up for a long time. I did go with the Best Buy Total Tech service so feel that level of protection gives some peace of mind. Also kudos to the Best Buy team, the salesman Jose that helped me with this purchase and the delivery guys that did a great job moving old out and new in on our second floor laundry room.

Ergonomics and the LG Single Unit, Wahtower
15 December 2022

Our laundry room is 6 feet by 6 feet and it was not designed for a short person. Our old side by side washer and dryer combination was 32 inches deep and 38 inches tall. The built-in cabinets were above the washer and dryer and 14 inches deep. That meant my wife had to stretch over the edge of the appliances to get to the cabinet and she could barely reach the bottom shelf. Add to that, the drum on the washer was deep; she had use a gripper to reach the clothes to pull them out. Then we saw a store display of the LG Washtower. That changed the game. We spent a few weeks researching the units and taking measurements to make sure we could fit it in the space we had. It looked good on paper so we decided to buy the unit. We spent a few weeks researching the units and taking measurements to make sure we could fit it in the space we had. It looked good on paper so we decided to buy the unit. I removed the old washer and dryer and tore out all the original cabinets. We patched up the walls and added a fresh coat of paint. To brighten the area, I mounted an LED ceiling light. We bought a freestanding storage cabinet that doubled our shelf space and it was all accessible without stretching.Delivery day went very smooth, the installers were great. They made sure everything was working and all the hookups fit. I finished up by bolting the cabinet to the wall and then we ran our start up test of the Washtower. The center control panel worked well, easy to read and set up both the washer and dryer. What can I say, it was easy to load and my wife is happy. There was no stretching or reaching to load the washer. Detergent and softener trays are easy to fill. Both units operate quietly and with shorter cycles than our old units. After three weeks we are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend it to anyone who needs a new washer and dryer. Plus, they look good. Thank you LG.

Love It - Plan to Buu 2nd For Basement Done Reno’s
26 October 2022

We have been using this for about 6 months and love it. The features are great and it is a wonderful machine. Great capacity and wonderful list of features. We had installed in a bathroom on our main floor and plan to install a second when we finish our basement. We had it installed so that it is elevated off the floor seven inches (with sides/back that stop it from moving) - so the bottom of washer opening is 14” from floor. As the legs are under it just over an inch, we had lip install on front of floor elevation that stops it from moving. Vented through basement through duct travelling through joist to outside. Had a custom cabinet install overtop of it. Bathroom is insulated in walls with oak pocket door, so don’t hear it in other rooms. If balanced properly, can leave washer door slightly ajar so no smell (we keep it open 1”). We generally use vinegar instead of fabric softener so no issues with mould, smell, etc. we do not use the wi-do settings yet. Love the steam features. Washer does a great job spinning out water. Dryer does a great job drying things without over drying. We got 5 year warranty as part of purchase. Home Depot priced matched and best competitor by 10%. We now only buy appliances at Home Depot.

By having to wash at the laundromat, during this long overdue experience from this purchase from LG.The repairman has visited several times with each repair not finding any solution. Instead of replacing into brand new ones without issues. We are now going into 2 months of waiting for replacement parts with new appliances that we should not have these type of troubles with this soon.To add insult to injury the rest of our brand new appliances we have purchased for our kitchen and home are also LG as well. Which is very concerning being if we have any issues with those appliances that this is the type of customer service we will receive in turn.I feel that this may be the last time we will ever purchase LG if this matter is not corrected very soon. I truly hope LG can expedite & resolve this matter to regain my assurance in products, customer service, & brand.

NO Regrets!
24 July 2022

I’m so happy I decided to buy this unit! I just purchased a home that has a very small kitchen and laundry room, so this unit sits perfectly beside a new shelf unit and everything has its place. Both the washing machine and dryer are quiet and get my clothes, sheets, and towels clean. It’s very easy to move laundry from the washer to the dryer. The controls for each are easy to understand. I was not able to take advantage of the extra settings, because I don’t have reliable Wi-Fi in my home, but that’s fine; the standard settings are perfect for my usage anyway. I do adjust the dryness level up one, as the “normal” setting leaves the clothes too damp for my liking. The whole unit installed quickly and easily, replacing a standard washer and dryer. I was worried about the hookups, but there were no issues at all. The dryer hose does run out from behind the dryer into the old exhaust, but the shelves cover it up nicely. I recommend doing your homework and preparing the area for installation ahead of time, but the guys from Home Depot were very knowledgeable and efficient. They had to remove the handles from my refrigerator to get the unit into the laundry room, but there were no issues and had it done in no time.Overall my whole experience with this unit has been awesome! I gave my daughter my old LG front load washer that is about 14 years old, and it is still going strong, so I expect nothing but years of great service from this one!

Star for Product - Lowes Problems To Know
31 May 2022

I've had this a month. I needed a stacked for my space and Lowes didn't have the stack kit for Whirlpool or any of the others so LG Washtower essentially my only choice. I'm happy with the machine. It is much faster than my last washer and dryer; holds large loads; gets the clothes clean. The front-load issue of water splattered around the door seal is more with this machine than with my prior machine so I'll have to keep a watch to wipe it off. The dryer settings don't allow temperature changes (Normal is only medium-high heat, Bedding is only medium heat, Small Load is only high heat, etc. None of the settings have low heat and you can only get that through a "timed" choice where you select the minutes and it doesn't turn off when dry or go longer if still wet). ... MoreI've had this a month. I needed a stacked for my space and Lowes didn't have the stack kit for Whirlpool or any of the others so LG Washtower essentially my only choice. I'm happy with the machine. The front-load issue of water splattered around the door seal is more with this machine than with my prior machine so I'll have to keep a watch to wipe it off. The Owner's Manual says it has Cycle Modifiers that allow temp changes but the directions do nothing and it does not seem to have this feature. The lack of ability to change the dry temperature is annoying. Also, some downgrading of materials in the dozen years since I bought a set with the top being an unfinished metal surface (like the back of a dryer) instead of a smooth coat like the front. Now, about the Lowes website and installation which gets a zero stars.First, the Lowes website has a green checkmark under Specifications for "Power Cord Included" on this steam model (the non-steam less expensive version says it is not included). The installation guys came without a cord and said I was supposed to have bought it separately. Second, the extra accessories that the website says are needed to install this include three items: Galvanized Full Clamp, Aluminum Flex-Duct, and two-pack outlet connector - which I purchased. The install guys said it needed 3 (not 2) outlet connectors. Third, I asked two different Lowes sales people in appliances if the install guys would take my old washer/dryer to garage. Both said they would. I'd like to note here that I have a single story house and my laundry room is connected to the garage. Moving the old washer and dryer literally involved moving them a total of 3 feet outside the door immediately in front of the machines, and I had already unplugged and disconnected lines. But, oh no, the install guys say they don't move old machines. So my install email said arrival set for 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. I checked on the website several times over the evening and it showed out for delivery, kept showing a driver's name and that they were a little behind but would be coming. At 9:00 PM I started calling the number on the delivery contact and after sitting on hold for more than half an hour got a snotty lady who acted like I was crazy to think they'd still be showing up. She said the guy went home two hours ago and forgot to update the status. Re-schedule - they couldn't come the next day so it was set for two days later between 8:00 and noon. They finally showed up around 2:30. So my "four hour window" ended up with waiting at total of 12 hours for my washer delivery. Then the guys told me they won't move my old machine and it didn't come with a power cord (showed him the Lowes website that said it did but he insisted he couldn't do anything, didn't have a cord, couldn't help, and kept insisting they wouldn't move my old machine out of way). So I told him to put the washtower back on the truck and take it back to the warehouse and we'd have to reschedule. At that point he pulled out a power cord and moved my machine. So really, I don't know if the Lowes website is correct and he was playing some sort of game to get me to offer a big tip or what. But clearly he did have a cord, and the water lines, and was able to move my machines the necessary 3 feet. Overall, the delivery service is perfectly awful on the phone and in person! So then I ran a load and all the clothes were hot in the washer when I transferred to dryer. Obviously, it was running hot water as a rinse instead of cold. So I had to pull the machine out from the wall by myself. This has steam so the hot connector has a splitter - he had run one red colored line and one blue colored line from the same hot connector putting one into the cold line on the washer and the other into the steam on the dryer - that tells me this was not a "mistake" and he knew which was which. I couldn't get them unscrewed and had to go to Lowes to buy the proper wrench. So essentially another 3 hours wasted re-setting up my own washer with the trip to the store, moving machine, switching lines, cleaning up floor, etc. I'd also like to note here that when I went to the store to buy a wrench, the sales associate told he he knew the install company is a nightmare and that Lowes knows they are a nightmare. After all that, I really do like the washer. From a cost perspective, I wish my 12 year old dryer had not died because this new one is very expensive. Even though it always seems to be one sale, it comes in around $2,100 with the connecting items. But at least early on it seems to be doing a good job and is easy to control.

Very happy with the appliance, not LG customer service.

My wife and I purchased a LG wash tower for our new house from Home Depot. It was delivered to the house before construction completed with all the other appliances. We moved in in December and tested all the appliances and found that the washer leaked. We contacted Home Depot and was told we would have to contact LG directly. Not a problem. LG sent out a tech and he saw that it leaked and thought it was a rubber part on the drain and order that part. He came out again with another tech before the part arrived, because the second tech had the part on his truck. They both looked and found that actually the leak was with the drum of the washer. That part was ordered and another visit was made with two techs. The drum was replaced. That part was ordered and another visit was made with two techs. The drum was replaced. They ran the washer through a cycle and did not notice any leak. They were kind enough to place the wash tower unit in the tray we had purchased. After we did 3 loads of laundry we noticed water in the tray and called for the tech again. The leak was much less than before. The tech did not feel that he could do anything more to stop the leak. LG was not willing to replace or refund the cost of this unit. During this time we were informing Home Depot of all we were going through with LG. When LG finally refused to replace the defective unit or refund the cost, Home Depot stepped up and replaced the unit at no additional cost to us. This was after almost 3 months of dealing with LG and multiple visits from the tech, who stated the unit was unrepairable. In the end LG refund 20% of our cost and Home Depot provided a new unit. when we started looking for appliances we knew we wanted LG brand and the other 4 appliances are great. We were disappointed with LG customer service, but very pleased with Home Depot and their assistance. The new wash tower is excellent and no leaks. Love the convenience of the unit.

Waited 2 years to Buy should have done sooner!

I’ve been wanting a new washer and dryer for two years now and I seen this washtower when it first came out and was like wow i really like that idea and love how the buttons are in the middle and not having to reach up like a normal stackable is great! Plus with this this I could get more space in my kitchen for more cabinets. I seen Home Depot had it on sale and I also had a zero interest deal so I just went ahead a pulled the trigger and got everything I needed to install, I went a head and did the order online, I did it on thanksgiving and it was delivered on Dec 3rd and was placed where I’d like it, I figured install it myself and get the stuff I would like for the install, got ready to install and noticed the top panel seemed to be loose - seems like screws are ... MoreI’ve been wanting a new washer and dryer for two years now and I seen this washtower when it first came out and was like wow i really like that idea and love how the buttons are in the middle and not having to reach up like a normal stackable is great! Owned it about 2 weeks now and seems like I had it for months, so far washed just about everything from bedding to clothes and the dog’s blankets, The washer can wash a medium size load in 29 min! Before it seemed to take about 45 or so mins to wash the same size load in a older top load washer. Dryer is same deal drys all the way in half the time the old one would, I feel like it’s already reduced the amount of water and electricity probably by half I’d say. What I love the most is how quiet it is! If you are thinking about buying this, dont think any longer to do so! Definitely worth buying!
