This is historically one of the most well-known ascorbic acid serums and many people rave about it but I would be wary recommending this product for everyone. Other companies have since piggybacked on this formulation and there are now much more affordable "dupes" with similar stabilisation profiles and consistency (if you care about that). In my opinion, this is not an overhyped product but understandably the price tag is a huge deterrent for most people, and there are several affordable dupes now on the market that will produce similar results. That said, if you can afford to, it is worth trying at least once. It has a lot of research and studies backing it which show its efficacy and this is also why it is the gold standard. The other products on the market do not have as much clinical data backing the results of its products. The serum is housed in a tinted glass bottle with a dropper applicator. Even with its stabilised profile, I would recommend attempting to use this up within 3-4 months because by that time, it will have begun the oxidation process, and for the amount of money you spend on this, even at a discount, you should treat usage seriously. It does initially have a noticeable smell that I can only describe is like hot dog water. I believe this scent is not exclusive to this formulation and is quite a common scent ascorbic acid formulations are known to give off. However, once applied, you should not really smell it any more. The serum is fairly light, watery in consistency, and does absorb quickly with no residue. I did not experience any irritation but sensitive skin users will not be immune to a little bit of irritation. Unlike others I did not notice any visible results other than a brightening of my skin. However, this review is only based off use of one bottle. Perhaps with consistent use of multiple bottles, I would see further beneficial results. My overall impression is that this is still with reason one of the best ascorbic acid formulations that has stood the test of time and is well-backed with clinical research to support the efficacy.
