It’s recommended that you Not tighten your jaw when you use this. Well, if you grind your teeth you tighten your jaw. The product is not comfortable and I found myself grinding my cheek due to it’s movement. The front didn’t stay secure and the guard will wonder in your mouth, I found it to be a choking hazard.

In the past, I purchased a different no-boil Sleep Right guard that was much more comfortable and streamlined. This current version is made of harder material and the bite wings are entirely TOO BIG. The wings extend uncomfortably up into your gums on upper jaw. It's hard to sleep with it... how a horse must feel with a bit in its mouth. Do you want to sacrifice sleep time trying to 'chew' and reshuffle it in your mouth to make it work? The manufacturer needs to redesign and scale it TF down. I was tempted to spit it out in the middle of the night because it was irritating my gums. Couldn't wait to remove it in the morning. Annoying. I continue to use my old one even tho it's seen better days because I need sleep. Definitely will buy another brand next time. I have had to deal with grinding my teeth for a long time, to the point where I’ve had professional ones made to store brought ones. I tend to have sore mouth after the more bulky ones but I didn’t realize that was the answer was my mouth guard was a little to bulky for me personally. I switched to this one and I woke up refreshed and my mouth wasn’t hurting and it gave me a better, tighter fight. So 20/10 would recommend and I will be purchasing again in the future.

I like this type of dental guard. I have used many of the boil to mold dental guards, and 2 expensive custom guards from the dentist. This one sits loosely between your teeth, and it makes it possible to do as they recommend (think "lips together, teeth apart"). The other types fit snugly on my upper teeth, and they were bulky so that I could not keep my teeth apart. It seems that the Sleep Right Ultra may actually get me to start holding my teeth apart. The others just cushioned my teeth while I continued to grind. Yes, I have to push the thin strap to my lower gums sometimes during the night to make the guard stay in place. Not a big deal. But this one is worth a try.
This product is only ok.it does the job but is not very comfortable. It has a hard plastic piece on the outside of each side of the bite pads (the part slides back and forth for best fit)...resembles a screw top and is hard playstic..it tends to rub on your gum, at least it did with me and so I need to keep adjusting it repeatedly not because I can't really get it to fit well but because that part is pretty bothersome. It's difficult to see the part in the pic because its transparent..but it's small and round. Ihave followed instructions to the t and reread them a few times. I still use it, but take a break from it every so many days just to give my gums a break from the discomfort and soreness caused by that particular part. Don't waste good money on this garbage. It's flimsy and light weight. But if that's what you are looking for then it will probably work for you. But this did not work for me because I grind my teeth aggressively and to the point where caps from root canals come loose due to the grinding. SO if you are look for something strong and durable, go to the sporting goods department and grab a football mouth piece. For me I have a small mouth with bigger teeth (if that makes since) 34yo female, with the bite of a teenager with braces. So I ended up choosing a youth sports mouth guard made for braces, and it was perfect (a little bulky, but worth it to save my teeth). I appreciate when people leave very descriptive reviews, so I hope mine helps someone.
Years of those boil-then-mold dental guards led me to these and wow! The day after the first wear my jaw was having trouble clenching. It also discouraged biting down on the guards which increased grinding. I only wish I tried this sooner so I wouldn't have the bite I developed as a result of those other guards. It's definitely not for every night. I use every other day or two nights apart.
Given that mouth guards vary in design and thickness, leading to reviews that really comes down to 1) the size of your mouth, 2) product design, 3) thickness, and 4) value.1) I have a small mouth, and the adjustable bands worked for me. 2) I was dubious about this "floating" design after wearing retainers for so long but recent bridge work made them obsolete. This model stays in throughout the night and don't come off. 3) The thickness yet softness of the bite plate are better than my retainers. 4) The 35% coupon put the high priced product in line with the lower prices models.
This mouthguard does not stay in my mouth. They claim the front band is a "thermal band" that will form to your overall mouth shape, but I couldn't get it to stay down where it's meant to be. The bite pads don't rotate, instead the band keeps coming up while you hold the bite pads in place. It also held my teeth so far apart (at least 3/8 inch) I couldn't close my lips around it. My teeth were so far apart I can almost stick my whole tongue out between them. I ended up clenching my jaw just to try and keep this in my mouth. Tried all four settings for at least 45 minutes each and none worked for me

Which was unpleasant at first, but I feel it will be far better for the long run. I alternated between this and my old one for the first week because it felt painful holding my jaw on a different angle. But now that I'm learning not to clench my teeth, I'm using this one every night. I've even fallen asleep without it a couple of times and woken up without feeling like I'd been grinding my teeth. So I'm quite happy with this. It's training me to sleep with my mouth closed and teeth apart. The teeth pads feel quite durable and hard.
