Hi - I wanted to return and give my impressions after a year of using my SnS Deluxe Kamado. My kamado is still in perfect condition after regular year-round use. I've cooked everything from pork shoulder at 225 to pizza at 700+. I haven't really used the slow-n-sear insert in it yet, as that seems to live in my kettle, but I'll be sure to give it a try at some point.I'm very happy with how easy it is to control temps with this kamado. In the past week, I cooked my Thanksgiving turkey in it at a steady 325 for just over 5 hours. It had plenty of room for an 18 pound bird under the dome. I have a thermostatic fan controller that I've used for longer cooks, but I think I could get by without it.The longest cook I've done was an enormous pork shoulder that took 19 hours - I didn't wrap it and it took forever to get through the stall. I only had to add charcoal once during that whole cook.I'm very pleased with my purchase. Everything in the package is top quality. The stainless grills and accessories are still as new - so much better than the nickel-plated mild steel you get from some other manufacturers.I'm happy to recommend the kamado from SnS to anyone.

I purchased the 1st generation grill, received and had everything set up in June 2022. The grill has been amazing and is incredibly versatile. I have dialed in temps to 225* F steady for 12 hours of smoked pork butt or brisket. I have gone close to 1000* F for amazing pizzas. I reverse sear all thicker cuts and the grill takes just a few minutes to crank up for high searing heat (open all vents and lid). I can also achieve these temperatures and reliability in the middle of winter. My only complaint is the easy spin insert easily slips out of its slot if an accessory interferes with a tab on its way out - not enough of a problem for me to knock the rating, but annoying. Before purchasing, I was upgrading from an 18" kettle and originally wanted a 22" kettle. After discovering the versatility of ceramic, my research began. I looked into BGE, KJ, SnS, and other brands. Most brands had 18" grills and 24" grills. I knew I didn't want 18" and 24" was far too big (and expensive) for me. With all of the accessories of the SnS and the right size, this product was the winner for me. Once I got it, I think I had 4 or 5 test burns just to try and get the hang of it. It takes practice and I still screw up the temps from time to time. User error. This grill is not an easy tool to use correctly. If you're new to ceramic grills, do your research. If you're not patient, this grill may not be for you. This is my first ceramic grill and I don't think I'm ever going back.Oh yeah, SnS's customer service is outstanding! I've always been able to get my questions answered or any problems are resolved quickly.

I contacted SnS Grills about it, and they sent me some sealant to seal the gap, as well as a new gasket if I wanted to redo it, and some SnS Grills grill gear (gloves, spatula, tongs, fork, probably something I'm forgetting) for the inconvenience. I still haven't redone that gasket, as the bottom vent seems sealed on at the top and I'm afraid I'd mess it up if I took the bottom vent off to reach the gasket. This doesn't seem to have affected temperatures much if any - if anything temperatures behave the opposite way I'd expect. With an air gap, I would expect increased airflow, so temps would be higher than normal... but if anything I have to open my vents higher than I expected to based on videos I've seen of cooks done on this thing, but once I get it dialed in it's pretty damn stable, even in Turbo Slow mode. This one's not really SnS Grills' fault, but I have both a FireBoard Blower fan and a BBQ Guru fan with the kamado adapter, but I haven't been able to attach either adapter to the intake vent on this. The BBQ Guru plate is too big; I even had someone grind it off some but it was still too big. You can cut off enough to make it fit, as Phil N Florence did so, but it would be nice if the vent was more "standard" I guess. I've heard SnS Grills is working on their own controller, so hopefully they'll make an adapter for existing fans that can mount on this cooker without issues. Now for the positives. Basically everything else.Assembling the cradle was easy and didn't take me long. Installing the kamado in the cradle took a couple of extra bodies, but that's normal given the size and weight. The things I cook the most on here are relatively thin (1" - 1.5") cuts of meat, like burgers, chicken *******, chicken thighs, chicken drumsticks, steaks, pork **** slices, etc. For these, I cook indirectly using the Slow N Sear setup, usually at dome temps around 400 (though I do cook steak at 225 for a reverse sear), cooked indirectly before searing. For steak, the cold grate technique works amazingly well, but since I've done a low and slow cook, lighting up most of a chimney just for the sear seems wasteful, so lately I've taken to just searing steaks with the Su-V Gun, and it seems to do a good enough job I can't justify the additional charcoal use, since Fogo is expensive.I typically only use the traditional kamado setup with heat deflector when I need the full space, though lately I've taken to grilling burgers directly over a fire built this way. I have the cast iron drip n griddle which I think will do better for burgers, but I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to sand the rough surface down before seasoning it, as I tend to hate rough cast iron.As for smoking, I've done plenty of ribs and Boston Butts, and I did my first ever brisket overnight two nights ago. I've never eaten brisket before so I don't have anything to compare it to, but the result looked and tasted great to me.It seems my review is limited to 5 photos, which is a real bummer, as I have LOADS of pictures of things I've cooked on this.

Great Cooker Overall
31 March 2021

I have taken a long time since purchasing my kamado to leave this review. I wanted to do lots of different cooks, in different temps (inside the cooker and out!), and lots of different meats. My overall impression is that this is a great cooker. It holds temp incredibly well, and I love that the cook surface size is right between a BGE large and XL. Great value for money. The first cooker I received was damaged on arrival (entire bottom was broken off in transit), but SnS did a great job getting me a new one, and removal of the old one, at no additional cost to me. The delay was a bummer, but it was handled incredibly well. Thanks, Sharon! There are a couple things that could use tweaking, hence my 4 star review. The delay was a bummer, but it was handled incredibly well. Thanks, Sharon! There are a couple things that could use tweaking, hence my 4 star review. In the questions section you can see that I asked what fitting would work best from BBQ Guru or Fireboard. It was recommended that I get the multi-adapter or Pit Boss fitting through BBQ Guru. I went with the multi-adapter, and in my haste to figure out how to fit it into the vent, I started to remove one of the screws that goes into the cooker and now that one is just sitting there loose because I think the screw is drilled directly into the ceramic, not a threaded insert. My fault, and I should have realized that I needed to trim the bottom of the fitting with an angle grinder, not remove the screws. That said, I wish the cooker vent was larger and had flush screws to hold it in place so it's easy to slide in a fan fitting. (e.g., a rivet or something similar). The larger vent would definitely be nicer for airflow and cleaning. The second thing I think that could use improvement is the top vent. After many cooks and sitting in the elements it has become very sticky and hard to use. I have to really hold it in place to open the vent before starting each cook. My request to SnS - PLEASE offer a better, weather resistant vent for the top. I'd spend good money if that were an offering in your Grill Modifications section right now. Something like what KJ is doing, or even outdo that like we know you can!Last thought I have is that it would be nice if you offered a cooker-height cover so I don't have to modify the full-length one I currently own when it gets placed into a cook station. Thanks for making a great cooker! Looking forward to watching the accessories and modifications section of your site for new products!

Great results in low temp cooking.

After using your Slow N Sear deluxe now several times I am very pleased with the results for how it cooks. BBQing at these lower temperatures for longer periods of time is new to me but the results are really good and I am enjoying it! Since this is a very high end grill there are some design/manufacturing things I am surprised at. For one the cradle that the grill nests in comes with countersunk phillips screws, split lock washers and flat washers for assembly. Totally incompatible as the tapped holes the screws go into are not counter sunk but flat! You don't use split and flat washers with countersunk screws. Totally incompatible as the tapped holes the screws go into are not counter sunk but flat! You don't use split and flat washers with countersunk screws. Not sure how you can get that wrong as far as hardware that comes with the product? The design for removing old ashes is poorly done. The directions say to use this small scraper and pull the ashes out through the front vent. Well that isn't great as the ashes fill up the groove the vent slides in and then the vents won't close all the way and are hard to move unless you blow them out and get all the crud you just pushed into them out. I have cooked on Kamado style grills for many years and the previous one I had was much superior. The ash bin at the bottom was clipped on but had a good seal and when you needed to empty it, you unlatched it and slid it off to empty the ashes into a container. Very efficient and took a fraction of the time to do compared to yours. I was also more impressed with my old grill's second level cooking grate. It was on a rotating socket so when you opened the lid and needed to get to what was cooking under it you just spun it out of the way. You didn't need heat resistant gloves and then find some place to put it down that wouldn't burn what you were setting it on. They had thought that one through. I wouldn't call this a complaint as I am not an expert on ceramics and you mention how high a quality your ceramics are. However when I am cooking at a fairly low 300 degrees you can not rest your hand on the outside of the grill as it is very hot. On my old much less expensive Kamado, I could heat that up to 600 degrees and put my hand on the outside and leave it there for even 10 seconds? Since your grill is cooking evenly and doing a good job I will chalk that up to my lack of knowledge on different types of ceramics. Thanks and I am enjoying cooking with this grill!

Initial Review SnS Kamado
9 December 2020

Hi - I haven't lit a fire yet, but I wanted to remark on the great experience buying your kamado.I have been using your Slow n Sear in my Weber kettle for a while now and have been very happy with its performance and ease of use. I've been goin back and forth on getting a kamado because of the good results I've been getting with my current setup. The advent of cold weather here in the northeast and the difficulty of getting consistent results on cold, windy days finally decided the issue for me.I watched a good few videos on YT, but I had been leaning towards your product from the beginning because of my satisfaction with the quality of materials and construction with my original slow n sear.Well, I can report that the quality of the Kamado is definitely on par with my previous purchases. I received everything in perfect shape, both from your warehouse and from FedEx. The packaging is well thought out and simple to deal with. The kamado itself is much bigger than it seems on video. I know your instructions recommend having two or three people to lift it onto the assembled stand, but I really think three strong guys is what is needed. My son and I, both fit men, did it ourselves and it was non-trivial. It's heavy, but more than that, it's just an awkward object to lift.Everything in the box is really top-notch. All stainless hardware so I don't have to worry about any rust stains on my patio. The instructions are clear and simple to follow. The only hitch I had was that the stainless washers and lock washers for the stand assembly were in a bag taped to the side of one of the boxes. It took a couple of minutes of searching before I found them, but everything fit and went together perfectly. A really thoughtful piece of design. Even the side-tables are high quality, and that's often an item where cost-cutting often shows up.I'll update this review once I've had some cooking time under my belt, but I couldn't be happier with my purchase so far. If you are looking at the price tag on this kamado, it's not really apples to apples. It comes with a diverter plate and I opted for the deluxe version which comes with a whole bunch of slow n sear accessories, so its really everything you need in one package. I think its an excellent value. I'm not quite ready to give up my Weber kettle yet, but we'll see how much use I get out of it in the future. Maybe I'll keep that for grilling fish while I cook meat on the kamado.

Lots of Learning To Do
19 June 2022

I needed an upgrade from my 18” Weber kettle. I wanted a larger cooking surface so most of the well known brands were out of the question unless I wanted to spend double. I didn’t. After quite a bit of research and internal debate I chose the SnS Kamado Deluxe grill. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I am new to the ceramic scene so I still have to learn quite a bit about the kamado and temperature control. I’ve done several test burns and am starting to get the hang of it. I had to call SnS a couple times and their customer service is phenomenal. I’m glad I supported them over Weber or Kamado Joe. Things I love: all of the accessories and the versatility of ceramic. 22” cooking surface. Things I don’t love: base is a bit wobbly when I intentionally wiggle it.

Loving My Kamado
2 October 2021

I've been a Weber Kettle Head for years and a fan of the SnS since it came out, having bought an original after Amazing Ribs first review of it. I've owned a couple of Kamado style cookers over the last 30 years, first an old Imperial clay Kamado I bought used that finally fell apart and an Akorn that rusted out in the bottom. I'd wanted to get back into the Kamado game for a while, and contemplated a Weber Charcoal Summit, but just never pulled the trigger. I was intrigued by what I read and saw of the SnS Deluxe Kamado which, from a performance and package perspective, seemed like one of the best values of any Kamado on the market. The fact that it was a 22" and would accommodate most of the accessories for the Kettle I already owned was a big plus as well. The fact that it was a 22" and would accommodate most of the accessories for the Kettle I already owned was a big plus as well. So, I ordered one of the "factory seconds" (hey, I'm a sucker for saying $100) as well as the Kick Ash bundle. Mine has a couple of almost unnoticeable "chips" in the paint on the front - in fact, I didn't notice them until I really started studying the shell. Delivery went fine, though it was raining the morning it was delivered and I don't have a paved path to my back patio, so getting the pallet truck through the yard was "fun". The hardest part was getting someone to help lift the shell onto the cradle. My daughter had a baby the same day the Kamado was delivered (was supposed to be a few days later - the baby, that is) - so I didn't have the use of my Son-in-Law as soon as I hoped and it sat on the back porch for five or six days before getting set up. Since then I've done four cooks on it. First was a couple of split chicken ******* with the traditional Kamado setup since I had still hot coals in the bottom from an initial test burn. After that I've done two racks of baby back ribs, a Cuban style pork butt, and a high heat steak sear, all using the SnS. Turboslow really works well, but does use more coals and the rib cook taught me a lot about how the SNSK reacts to bottom vent adjustments in that mode (opening the bottom vent will initially cause grate temp to drop as the additional air flow on the "cool" side cools it off a bit, this caused me to overract at first until I picked up on the pattern). When I did the pork butt, I pretty much had it down and once I reached my desired temp of 250 it held steady except when I opened the lid to spritz. Needless to say I'm more than pleased with the SNSK so far. Paid far less than I would have for a KJ or BGE and, in my opinion, got a far more versatile set up "out of the box". SnS Grills may still be a relative newcomer to the game, but they offer well thought out and executed products at very reasonable prices.

Outstanding flavor and texture
10 November 2021

I purchased the deluxe Kamado grill in August 2020 and picked it up at the shipping company instead of waiting for the white glove delivery after the Labor Day weekend. I have waited to post a review because I wanted to use the grill to ensure the product does what I expected before making a recommendation. I originally purchased the grill with the Maverick XR Pro thermometer and case, cherry picker and grill cover after listening to a good friend carry on about his Kamado Joe and extensive ribbing about the Traeger I purchase the previous year. I later purchased the ash basket bundle (ash basket, divider and ash can) based on his recommendation and subsequently the plancha along with a couple instant read thermometers.I want to preface this review with my opinion ... MoreI purchased the deluxe Kamado grill in August 2020 and picked it up at the shipping company instead of waiting for the white glove delivery after the Labor Day weekend. I later purchased the ash basket bundle (ash basket, divider and ash can) based on his recommendation and subsequently the plancha along with a couple instant read thermometers.I want to preface this review with my opinion that a satisfying meal requires both flavor and texture and I could not achieve the latter with the Traeger which is why I purchased the SNS Kamado. I have cooked steaks, tri-tip, chicken wings, pork butt, chuck roast numerous times over the past year with various wood chips or chunks using both briquette and lump charcoal. I have to say that I am impressed with the flavor achieved with the turbo slow cooking method that produces a clean and distinctive wood flavor as a result of the higher temperatures in addition to the texture of the meat with the reverse sear using the cold grate method.I wasn’t not overly impressed with the ash basket fit in the SNS because it extends above the ceramic that holds the grate and the heat deflector. I initially contacted customer service and inquired about returning it for refund. I never sent the ash basket back but I didn’t foresee using it for cooking in the Kamado setup because the SNS configuration works perfect for my tastes as well as friends and family. The Ash Can works great and I highly recommend that product for quick clean out of the ashes using an old paint brush to sweep the ashes into the can after the coals are dead. The Maverick XR Pro thermometer range is outstanding and worked while I was 300 ft away at the barn during a low and slow cook of a pork butt. The ThermoPro thermometer I have lost communication before I even made it to the barn. The instant read thermometers have also worked very well. The plancha was seasoned with three coats of Blackstone griddle seasoning before first use and works great for preparing breakfast burritos and smash burgers with grilled onions. Placing the SNS basket with lit charcoal on one side allows for cooler areas on the opposite side to keep the cooked food warm until ready to serve. Using the plancha in a kamado setup with the fire directly below the plate heats the entire plate which is great for seasoning but not for cooking because there is no place to retreat if it is too hot.

The Last One
23 April 2022

This is the last grill I will ever buy. I ordered my Kamado deluxe on April 18 around 1030 pm. Three days later the grill arrived. The Fedx guys were able to get the grill up the steps with the help from my neighbor. This is around three hundred lbs. Myself and cousin and neighbor unboxed all of the contents. In about twenty minutes it was completely assembled and ready for its first cook. So I stepped back and washed off the grates and a general wipe down. So the first cook, starting less than two hours after delivery with two racks of baby back ribs. Total cook time was right at 5:30 minutes. I of course used a dry rub then finished them with some real sorgum molasses. I own three Weber performers, a Weber Ranch kettle (yes that is the big boy). I will never say anything negative about my Webers. Many delicious meals have been made using them. My SNS Deluxe Kamado will be tested today with chicken wings. I'll shoot a after summer review. Good grilling to all. This is the last one I'll ever buy!!
