Got here quick and works like a charm
I got this so I can remove the built-in mic holder, which I found quite annoying when I wasn't using a shotgun mic. It looked/felt off balance and out of place; I didn't like having the mic so far forward either.Most of the shooting I've done thus far has been without a mic, but this was a quick solution when I did need it for ambient sounds, in conjunction with the built in handle mics - makes for a fuller feel in the soundscape.

The mic grip is solid but has a central rubber section to help absorb motion movement.
Great accessory unit. Well engineered and made from metal....nothing flimsy about this piece.
It handles mics of different sizes. Keeps them still in contrast to my previous mic holder. Removing the cold shoe allows me to use the 1/4 20 thread on a mic stand or gorillapod. Very valuable when I have to use a coiled cable that tries to pull the mic back!
