Quality and craftsmanship are very good, there are abundant attachments points including 2 coldshoes and the best part is the wooden grip. It looks classy, feels great in the hand and adds a lotof confidence that I am less likely to drop the camera. I took out 1star because it's a bit difficult to turn the camera on & off and theshutter button is partially obstructed. These might be issues forsomeone with large fingers.

This cage is just what I've been looking for and much better than a simple "L"-bracket! My Sony RX100M6 doesn't have a built-in hot/cold shoe. This product solves that problem by incorporating two (2) cold shoe attachment points. Now I can mount both an external microphone as well as an LED constant light for much improved video recording. The machined aluminum construction is real quality and the wood grip adds a nice touch. I'm very happy with this product. Thanks SmallRig!

Perfect cage that fits snug around the camera adding some beef and needed support with the hand grip. The cage comes with 2 cold shoe mounts and plenty of extra holes to attach 1/4 threaded camera gear (I attach my Manfrotto evo mini tripod to the bottom holes). All the buttons and screen are easily accessible with the cage fitted on the camera, however, depending on what you attach to the top cold shoe mount you compromise some accessibility to some of the top buttons. I added some third party neck strap adapters to the camera itself and it doesn't interfere with the structure or support of the cage while on the camera. Overall, very well-made, sturdy item I highly recommend purchasing.

Problem is once you put this on top of cold shoe, this really block shooter bottom and is much harder to press it if you want to take photos as well, even without microphone shooter and power bottom are harder to accessFor the video only is nice grip if you plan se on any kind of tripodComparing this to much cheaper and smaller Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip, this camera become much bigger and heavier and does not resolve complete problem with putting microphone on Sony Rx 100Overall is good, but if you just need a grip buy very cheap Sony grip and it will serve you well
I bought the RX100 VII because I wanted a competent little camera that would not get me into trouble where pro gear is not allowed, and in challenging outdoor places where I want more features that my GoPro's can offer. I also immediately bought the SmallRig cage exactly to be able to turn the camera into a true rig with the addition of a Deity D4 Duo external mic and a Lume Cube LED light. I am extremely happy with this rig that, in my opinion, is a masterpiece of portability. Additionally, this cage seriously increases the ergonomics of the camera by itself alone. Highly recommended.
This cage was a must have when I ordered my RX100M7. One of the reasons I chose the camera was for the external mic port and this cage has the cold shoe mount for the microphone. It also makes the camera more comfortable to hold while shooting with the grip and extra bulk. It does interfere a bit with the shutter release button, but not enough to deduct a star. Unfortunately, the RX100 quit working after 5 weeks and it on it's way in for repair, so the cage sits empty in a drawer until I get the camera back.
