One tripod to rule them all!

Seller was great no complaints. It's light and fast to set up. Maybe a bit cheaply built, and the tripod head isn't really smooth. I like the SmallRig

I like the SmallRig brand usually, but I have a lower end Neweer tripod that i think is smoother than this for a lot less money, even if its heavier and harder to set up. Just depends what you need it for.

[Rewarded Review] Almost perfect for the price
21 June 2024

I just used this yesterday to film a speech. It was a run n gun Gala event and I had to deploy it quickly. It’s amazing that you can get this thing to its full height in less than 10 seconds. Just 3 locks in total. Amazing.4 stars because my only gripe is that you cannot remove the head. I was hoping to mount a much better fluid head to these amazing tripod legs.Hard to beat at the $175 price tag I got it for..

[Rewarded Review] OK, for the price, needs constant tightening
5 October 2024

This tripod is the most convenient tripod and has saved me a lot of set-up time.......BUT if I forget to tighten the locks on the tripod with a hex screw just about every two days, the tripod will slump and slip down. It's a constant battle to keep it locked in. If I forget my hex screw, I'm screwed.

[Rewarded Review] Superb Customer Service From SmallRig
13 October 2024

When I bought my first AD-80 system, after a month of typical use the head's tilt lock/drag knob had broken. Also, the head's pan and tilt action was sticky. Once I left my review, SmallRig reached out to me – with my permission, initially through B&H – to address the issue. After sending them a video of my issue they happily sent me a replacement head. Once I received the head I used it the following day on a shoot (with my trusty Sachtler on standby). The previous head must've been a lemon because this new head works flawlessly and was silky smooth right out of the box. After a few weeks of use I can say THIS AD-80 system works great and is a fantastic bargain for the price. Thanks to Joy at SmallRig for handling everything, and thanks to B&H for being amazing as always.

[Rewarded Review] UPDATED REVIEW after daily use for two weeks
30 July 2024

In my original review, I had started at five stars, but had to drop the rating since the legs almost dropped my camera.Although I still think these legs are magical and SO fast to use, after using daily in a studio setting for a few weeks, the stability of the locking mechanisms has shown to be a problem. After using the legs for only a few days, two of the legs began to sag with a 10 pound load... , almost allowing my camera to fall over. These legs have a 33 pound rating, the total weight of my camera plus tripod head is just north of 10 pounds. There is a single hex screw that adjusts the grip of the legs (as well as how tight the latch lever is).-- So I tightened the screw on the clamps one full turn, and suddenly I was unable to lock the legs (the latch ... MoreIn my original review, I had started at five stars, but had to drop the rating since the legs almost dropped my camera.Although I still think these legs are magical and SO fast to use, after using daily in a studio setting for a few weeks, the stability of the locking mechanisms has shown to be a problem. After using the legs for only a few days, two of the legs began to sag with a 10 pound load... , almost allowing my camera to fall over. These legs have a 33 pound rating, the total weight of my camera plus tripod head is just north of 10 pounds. There is a single hex screw that adjusts the grip of the legs (as well as how tight the latch lever is).-- So I tightened the screw on the clamps one full turn, and suddenly I was unable to lock the legs (the latch lever was so tight I was afraid the mechanism would break)...-- So I loosened the clamps a half turn, and suddenly the legs were too loose again...-- tightening the clamps back up a quarter turn seemed to work where I can flip the lever and the legs hold. But that is a small margin of just right... so I don't think I will be able to ever use this tripod without having to double-check the leg grip every time I use it.Almost a great tripod... but with this issue I think it is a miss.
