Bought this to use with SmallRig brand V-mount batteries. Both this adjustable plate and the batteries work very well together.The adjustable angle is a really nice feature. I don't use the extra mounting points for anything else, but it's nice to know they're available if I need.Most often, I actually use the adjustable arm and rod clamp section from this package with a SmallRig Mini V Mount Plate 2987 instead of the large one, as I find it's a little more svelte to use with my Panasonic S5 rig.

This unit is well-built (with one caveat) and provides great flexibility in my setups, especially as I switch out differently sized V-mount batteries. Using this, I'm able to quickly reorient the setup to maintain balance and accessibility.The caveat is this: Smallrig sends this unit with a steel washer for the main positioning nut/thumscrew. Initially this is fine, but it doesn't take long for the steel washer to wear through the anodizing and begin binding on the aluminum beneath. I solved this issue by replacing this steel washer with a nylon washer, purchased from a local hardware store-works great again. If I could, I'd advise Smallrig to ship this unit with the nylon washer. Otherwise, this is a great unit.
Nothing much to say about the plate, great locking mechanism, I like that I am able to detach the adjustable arm and and bolt the plate right on to the rod attachment because the adjustable arm does not hold weight of a v-mount battery regardless of the position and I am using the small batteries, not even the larger ones. Might try add a couple of washers at the joints to see if that adds tension. Overall, it doesnt do what it is supposed to. Could just be my unit because other reviews seem positive.

These 15mm rods are the perfect to get started with building your rig. They are lightweight and durable. Smallrig products are always top notch!
I like being able to move the battery around easily for different needs. Priced well
