This stuff is FULL coverage. The tiniest bit goes a long way and this is one of those foundations where you do want to use a pea sized amount. You need the smallest amount to get a nice full coverage layer that dries down but doesn’t feel dry or tight. And even though this is the most full coverage foundation I’ve tried, it doesn’t feel heavy. The reason you don’t want to use too much is because if you do it can look cakey really quick. definitely recommend a sponge to help absorb some of the product but I absolutely love this

I received a sample tube of this foundation, and I absolutely loved it. It was a holy grail foundation for me. So when Smashbox had a sale a while back, I bought it. The full size product is nowhere near the same product as what's in the sample tube. To me, it's a bait and switch, and I probably will never purchase another Smashbox product. The full size foundation is complete garbage. It clings to whatever primer I put on. It's almost like the primer becomes putty or waxy under this foundation, the foundation goes on in splotches and primer literally turns into flakes on my skin. I've tried at least 15 different primers and the foundation does the same thing for all of them. It looks so bad. It also dries incredibly fast. The foundation emphasizes my pores so badly, it looks like I took a grey colored pencil and dotted it all over my cheeks. My pores look like they're craters on my face. And forget about putting any products on top of this foundation. Even powder blush and bronzers go on so blotchy and patchy. 1 star is too high of a rating for this foundation. It's absolute trash. If you are going to purchase this, buy it on a heavy sale. I will try mine with several more primers, and then it's going straight into the garbage.

I bought this b4 reading any reviews..otherwise I probably wouldn’t have even considered it! I’m surprised now, by all the negative reviews, but everyone’s skin is different. I have been using Bare Minerals pressed powder foundation for awhile. It was a good color match, quick and easy to apply. But I have melasma and really need a full coverage at my age. I never could wear liquid or cream foundations because of my oily skin and large pores. And I have a terrible time finding the perfect shade. With large pores, if it’s not a perfect match, you can see little dots where the product settles into the pores. I tested Smashbox on a whim at Ulta. 2.15 was a perfect match..and I mean, I couldn’t tell the difference between my natural skin and where I swiped on ... MoreI bought this b4 reading any reviews..otherwise I probably wouldn’t have even considered it! And it covers my melasma without adding concealer. Because it is a full coverage foundation, I think the key is finding that perfect color match, using a beauty blender and starting with a small amount. Then you can always gradually build coverage, if you need.

It exasberated any dry spots and created worse dry flaky skin on my cheeks that i have never in my life ever dealt with before. I have to stop wearing makeup entirely to help my skin heal thats how horrible this is.It high lighted my fine lines making me look older. My skin is struggling way hard now and i have changed nothing but this foundation so i feel very sure it is the cause of it. I tried very hard to like this, to the point of this product becoming a money pit for me. Ive tried different primers, including smashbox pore minimum primer and this foundation still magnified my pores immensely. Ive tried different brushes sponges and means of blending and nothing helped. Ive tried a wet sponge but this foundation is so thick and waxy feeling i dont think that matters. This product would work great if you have immaculately smooth skin that isnt acne prone. To be completely honest i feel the description of this product is complete false advertising, but could just be me and my skin type. If you have any texture at all, wrinkles, large pores, even a tiny bit dry patches do not use this foundation it will only make matters worse! I hope to get my money back but judging by the reviews and how annoying it is to even begin that process im not holding my breath and just accepting my losses at this point. The only thing positive about this foundation is it made me look good in pictures or from a distance, so i feel that is probably what it was made for, for photographs and performances. Not exactly for everyday wear.

ONE OF THE BEST FOUNDATIONS

I started using this years ago.It is pricey but you will look beautiful wearing it .Shade 2.1 is a perfect match. I have ALWAYS used a beauty sponge to apply ,never a primer and I have combo oily skin. I good oil free moisturizer is key ,preferably gel based . Use a good setting powder and you are good to go .This withstands the heat and sweat as I do sweat in the summer and would normal have make-up melt off. I let the foundation set for a few minutes before using a loose setting powder. I do use another brand when I run out but this is hands down the prettiest foundation to wear and especially when taking photos. No setting spray either. Make sure your skin is clean and exfoliated and use a good oil free moisturizer underneath. If you are seeing dryness then maybe your shade is too light and you need a better moisturizer. The moisturizer will soak into your skin and create a barrier like primer for your foundation.

Oxidizing, patchy, separates halfway thru the day
3 November 2019

I have combination skin, but often foundations will look shiny and oily on my skin by halfway thru the day. I tried this foundation because it was advertised as great for oily skin with its matte finish. I know that no foundation will ever truly be shine-free for 10 hours so I figured with how matte this is, it will have the perfect dewy look by the end of the day. However, this stuff has some crazy negative evolution and the oil at the end of the day isn't even the worst part! As others mentioned, it is very patchy when applying; it seems like I just cannot get it to blend using my damp beauty blender with a primed face. Then, it oxidizes and has quite the yellowing effect. I purchased the light olive color since the light olive concealer is perfect for my cool olive tones, but an hour into wearing I looked fake tanned and yellow! As well, about halfway through the day, I checked my face in the mirror and saw that this stuff was patchy, creasing, shiny, and separating on my face from natural oil production. I looked absolutely insane! Sadly I had to return. I wanted to love it because the concealer is so great, but this is not a win. As others mentioned, maybe adding some type of oil to it would help blend? But for someone with combo skin who breaks out easily, that is not a great solution.

This foundation is ridiculously long wear and transfer proof. To get my perfect shade I personally mix this one with Estée Lauder double wear foundation and they mix so well. This foundation is so waterproof and (with the two mixed together) I have to wear a mask for around 6 hours whilst talking so it is rubbing against my nose and it stays applied the whole day. I also play a lot of sport and this foundation looks flawless whether it’s raining or hailing to boiling heat, looks amazing for ages. It is very full coverage which I personally like but is something to bare in mind. You also need to work quite quickly with it and it can also sink into pores a little bit with a porefilling primer it isn’t a problem. You also need to work quite quickly with it and it can also sink into pores a little bit with a porefilling primer it isn’t a problem. One time I had pretty much ran out of foundation and I need to wear this one for 3 days in a row as I knew it would last for sport and wearing a mask so I left it on over night then added a thin drop in the centre of my face in the morning where it had rubbed off just a little, then went out for the day applying nothing else and it looked fine, I then did exactly the same the day after to play sport (it was rainy) and it looked flawless still after that. (I would not suggest doing this but does show how durable it is - only do in extreme emergencies!! :). I recommend this product to anyone (I personally prefer the look mixed with Estée Lauder but just personal preference). I use shade 0. 3 which from the picture looks a lot darker than it is, it is very pale but I mix it with slightly darker foundations and mixes with anything pretty easily.

Sinks into fine lines and pores
24 April 2020

I researched this foundation until I was blue in the face! From youtubers to reading almost every review. I was extremely hopeful and I just had to try it for myself. I used to be a huge estee lauder double hour wear fan. But either my skin has changed or the product itself but it doesn't look right on my skin anymore. I read on some this still had full coverage without the cake so I wanted to give it a go. One thing that was VERY difficult was choosing the right shade. This is not the kind of foundation that can be tried just by sight of swatch. It does oxidize on the skin but the color was still too light for me. Aside from the shade, it seeped into my pores and fine lines. I have combination skin but lately it has been more on the dry side. I decided to use it with a moisturizer and smash box photo finish primer. It was a little better but the problem was still present. I'm 30 years old and I don't have bad skin but I also don't have injections in my face lol I feel if I had smoother or younger skin this would sit nicely. That is not the case for me! It's still highlights my pores around my nose and fine lines around my eyes or forehead. Unfortunately, I have to pay for shipping to return the item which I think is unfair due to the fact that stores are closed and I'm unable to return to the store and find something else for my skin and my shade. It definitely inhibits me from ordering a foundation online from them until this quarantine is done and I can test them in stores. I wish they would at least pay for shipping return labels so we can still try products and find satisfaction in a purchase.

Ok, let me start off by saying I have extremely oily acne prone skin. I got this foundation free with the points I accumulated from Ulta and I have to say that this is going to be an immediate exchange. I couldn't even do a wear test on this foundation. When I apply foundation I always start with a light layer and then build up if needed depending on if my acne is extra potent. I always use a sponge over a brush due to not wanting to not pull, irritate, or create flakiness with my acne (FYI, I also am committed to my skincare and apply 10 minutes before makeup application). After I applied my primer, a hydrating one considering this was a very matte foundation, and on first application it dried down IMMEDIATELY (and I always work QUICK) and it was extremely drying. ... MoreOk, let me start off by saying I have extremely oily acne prone skin. The pores around my nose were outrageously visible, my skin looked cakey with the light layer applied, and my skin looked aged (and I'm only 26!). The foundation itself is thick, it's not moussy texture, it's not runny, it's THICC like clay (and I an aware one of the highlighted ingredients is Kaolin Clay). This makes the original Fenty foundation feel like a hydrating drink of water compares to this. I will say that the coverage for the light layer was amazing, and the color match was spot on, but that's about it. I always give foundations a whole day to see how they hold up against my oil, but I couldn't even leave the house with how dry and caked up I looked. I always say as a consumer to grab a sample and try it yourself because everyone is different, but I honestly would NOT recommended this to anyone.

I have oily skin and I deal with larged pores, texture, acne, acne scarring, and rosacea. This is a very thick foundation and you only need the smallest amount in order to cover your entire face. Do not overdo it because you will end up looking like a cakey mess and there is no coming back unless you wipe off your makeup and starting again. This is a true full coverage foundation (it covered up all of my redness) and it has a matte finish but it's not so matte that you don't have some luminosity to your skin. Unfortunately, given all the issues that I deal with, this foundation settles into my fine lines, it enhances my pores (even with a pore-filing primer), and it just grabs on to all the dry patches on my skin. If I look at my skin closely when I'm wearing this foundation, it looks scaley (and yes, this happens even after exfoliation). From far away, it looks okay but up close, not so much. What I do appreciate about it is that all of my redness is masked. I have tried mixing this foundation with a face oil, I've tried using illumining/extra hydrating primers, and I've even gone so far as to mix this foundation with others that I have and every time, I experience the same results as I previously mentioned. I would not recommend this product to anyone who has dry skin - it would probably drive you nuts with how mattifying it is. This might look great on someone with normal, combo, or oily skin who already has a smooth complexion. As for me, I want to keep it but it doesn't look good enough on me. I will likely be returning
