I bought this with lot of expectations as my kenwood blender died out Did a lot of study between kitchen aid and Smeg and went for Smeg seeing its features but was really disappointed. The normal dough making the small dry dough stays at the bottom even till the end. The spool it not able to reach or mix it always have to mix it manually. Poor bowel design. Also the steel bowel is not of good high quality compared to its price tag It looks very light weight and inner lining is not smooth as if of Kmart quality Within 2 months of used now the bowel locks out of its base while making dough as the groove is. Very shallow comparatively to hold it suggesting poor design again How Smeg got five star is just for looks. I have the entire set of baby blue Smeg appliances in my kitchen. However, I am devastated that my blender has died, just out of its’ warranty period. Even before this, I had issues of liquid leaking through the base, despite me checking there were no holes or issues. I looked into repairs after contacting them on their website and price wise it is similar to buying a new blender. It’s a shame that the quality of the blenders do not seem to match that of other Smeg small appliances, especially considering the price.

Looks fab in my kitchen
17 January 2020

Love this retro blender - it looks fantastic in my kitchen. But there's nothing retro about this product's technology itself; it does a great job of making smoothies and other things. I've been making smoothies daily for 15 years and this blender has an additional burst of high speed which makes them extra smooth and delicious. Highly recommended!

Nice looking blender

I bought this blender to replace my old breville and to match my Smeg kettle and toaster. The blender looks great and I like the range of settings. The jug is also much lighter than the heavy glass jug of my breville. It is an expensive product though and I do have to say that it doesn't always get the blend completely smooth. I've not tried anything too heavy, however I do wonder how well it will perform if it leaves the odd banana lump in my smoothie. The blade can also be tricky to remove. I made the mistake of not removing it with every clean, only to find that liquid does get under the seal, so if you purchase make sure you remove this every time.Overall I am pleased with it.

Not just one faulty batch

I was really excited when my husband bought this as a gift last year in pastel green. I love the Smeg fifties look and the colour looked great in our 'cabbage white' kitchen - it is very glossy too. However, after just a couple of weeks of daily smoothie making, the numbers on the dial rubbed off completely! JL were great and exchanged it free of charge for an identical one. I was so paranoid with the new one that I barely touched the number part of the dial when switching on/off or turning it up or down. I was also extra careful to wipe spills immediately with soft dry tissue as the numbers are only painted on and if they were to disappear again would make operating the machine pretty awkward. One year later, despite the precautions, i gingerly wiped a splatter ... MoreI was really excited when my husband bought this as a gift last year in pastel green. I was also extra careful to wipe spills immediately with soft dry tissue as the numbers are only painted on and if they were to disappear again would make operating the machine pretty awkward. One year later, despite the precautions, i gingerly wiped a splatter from the number dial and the whole of the number 1 was gone. I know this isn't wear and tear because like last time was a case of the entire digit disappearing in a single wipe rather than a gradually wearing down. Its almost as though they have painted the numbers on with poster paint. This being the second time it's happened - and with all my paranoid precautions (my toaster doesn't need kid gloves like this!) I'm certain that this is a design flaw. Also, the seal around the top of the lid traps moisture against the plastic and it is phenomenally hard to reach behind to clean effectively which leads to long term discolouration.

Smeg lets itself down
2 February 2021

I'm a big fan of Smeg and even own their very expensive Dolce & Gabbana range. When my trusty Magimix blender finally pulsed its last, I replaced it with a Smeg without hesitation. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that while it proclaimed DESIGNED IN ITALY, a smaller line below that said Made in PRC. It didn't take me long to figure out that PRC stood for the People's Republic of China - a feeble attempt by Smeg to downplay the country of origin. The blending jug is made of plastic, the base is tinny and the motor offers very few options compared to other machines. Shame on Smeg for palming off a product so far below their usual standard to their loyal customers. Almost anyone of the blenders on Yuppiechef offers better quality - and at a lower price.

great blender. worth the extra $
22 April 2022

We love making smoothies in the mornings and I've been on a hunt for a good blender. I love the vintage pastel look of an old school diner but also that it's a high watt (800w) power. I often use berries and wanted to break them into as smooth a texture as possible. Wow was I impressed. It's very powerful. Even in a lower setting. The smoothie turned out really smooth creamy and frothy. Really happy with this purchase.
