I wanted to love this toaster, but couldn't. I was initially impressed when I pulled the toaster out of the box. It looks great and the controls seemed nice. A toaster is a toaster is a toaster they say? These words cannot be true. I had not idea how perfect my toast could be until receiving and using this beauty. Not only is it straight up the sexiest toaster out there, it literally makes perfect toast. So perfect, I nibble it slowly to savor the joy. My ragin' raisin toast comes out scrumptious on a 2.5 setting. I would highly recommend this toaster for anyone looking to upgrade their toasting game.

After 14 months of less than average use, the toaster stopped working, and only toasts on one side. Buyer beware all the negative reviews flag this and all the postive reviews just bought the toaster and are reviewing the aesthetics, not function or quality. Moreover SMEG customer service is horrendous and not responding to my initial emails for customer support.Williams Sonoma also not offering help due to 90 day defective product window despite overwhelming majority of the reviews saying the same thing. This is the most disappointing part for me - not getting support from Williams Sonoma who is marketing poor quality items at higher end price point.

I purchased the 2-slice Matte White Toaster and I absolutely love it. Aesthetically, it is an amazing addition to my boho/Scandinavian/mid-century modern-styled kitchen. The matte white color looks great next to my matte white Keurig coffee maker. The 2-slice toaster doesn't take up as much counter space and is perfect for my personal needs. As far as functionality goes, the toast always comes out perfectly toasted every single time. I am now looking into buying some of the accessories that Smeg offers, like the bun warmer and sandwich racks.If you are considering it, just make the plunge and buy the Smeg Toaster!

Never toasted evenly.Now it broke after 16 months and Smeg offers no way to have it fixed. They have a 12 month warranty. Beyond that, if it breaks you have to buy another toaster. (BTW, Smeg offers a 2 year warranty in many other countries - just not in the US.)The middle section of the toaster (that divides the two slice areas) has broken and separated from the top of the toaster. It's leaning precariously towards the right slice of toast. Not only does this make it toast more unevenly, if it were to lean further it might set the toast on fire.Think long and hard about whether you want ... MoreSmeg toasters look great. It toasts great, haven't had any of the issues people are facing. However, it has some clear design flaws that a $200+ toaster should not. The Matte color scratches sooo easily, we have tons of scratches and it hasn't moved since we set it up in the kitchen. The lever to push the toast down seems to be scratching it too. Also, most toasters will allow you to push the lever up after it's done toasting so you can reach smaller items and this one does not. Normally not an issue but you definitely have to be careful when pulling out smaller items like english muffins or mini bagels. This toaster is junk. I had issues with it after the first month and Williams Sonoma passed the buck to Smeg who did offer a replacement however the issue of the toasting one side seemed to disappear so I didn't end up following through. I traveled a lot last year and before going away, the lever stopped working and staying down. I cleaned the crumb tray and searched the internet for solutions but nothing worked. This toaster is faulty and doesn't last beyond a few months which is appalling considering the price tag.
Bought the matt black toaster & kettle and they look beautiful and work perfectly. The matt black shows no finger marks and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth and goes really well with grey, black and silver.The toaster is quick and quiet. It also toasts the entire slice of bread evenly on both sides. The last toaster we had from a rival company never did, hence the Smeg purchase.Would highly recommend, it's a high price item but it's worth it.
