I bought one of these in July 2023 and, although I try to avoid waste, I loved it so much I bought another to replace a perfectly serviceable (non-sensor) bin in our downstairs bathroom. The sensor has the correct sensitivity, I have only had to recharge the one I have had for a year twice in that time. It is a good size and shape. I bought the white one this time - it looks great!

There's no way to secure liners in place and the EKO liners provided aren't in any way a snug fit. There's no handle for inner bin. So liners don't stay in place and removing full ones is a bit of a task. Liners aren't compostable either. If you don't intend using liners then it's a nice (very expensive) bin.

I didn't buy a Cavaletto Espresso Machine, I bought two. I have a £550 Sage bean to cup machine which is used every day, then found the Cavaletto at a tenth of the price. I'd just changed my suitcases to lightweight which meant I had enough spare weight to allow me to easily carry a Cavaletto with me. I'd tried it a couple of times at home and was so impressed I bought a second. The coffee made from it is equally as good as my expensive machine. Due to its weight it seems 'cheap' yet it has all you need for a perfect up of coffee. Before I splashed out on my expensive machine I'd bought both new and used machines, paying as much for used as a new Cavaletto. The coffee jug would be better in stainless steel instead of glass, but it went in a suitcase 1200 miles and got home perfectly. All very minor niggles that really can't take away from the fact that this is a tenth of the price of a great machine, yet it makes great coffee, froths the milk and is hot enough, and with milk can make two mugs of coffee. Any machine is only as good as the coffee, so choose the ground coffee well and you should always get a great cup of coffee from this machine.

So disappointed with this coffee machine. Bought and returned within 24 hours. We've had Smeg before and been really happy. The coffee is tepid and even cooler when making milky drinks. The customisation features are also really poor and don't let you make drinks that are big enough for a normal cup let alone a travel mug.
John Lewis replaced the first bin due to a faulty lid function. According Eko the bin has a "rare" but unsolvable issue where the sensor just stops working for no reason. Not only was this an unfortunate comment to make directly to a customer, but I'm tempted to suggest that if they knew about the issue then it should have been resolved at the testing stage. Why push it onto unsuspecting customers who have paid a lot of money for this bin.I bought this bin partly to help me following hand surgery. It let me down when I most needed it. John Lewis efficiently dealt with the problem and sent me a replacement. The new one is working well but I just don't have a high level of confidence in it now.
We got rid of our NESSPRESSO coffee machine as we were tired of the capsules and the coffee wasn't too great. We looked at the Sage bean to coffee machine but the SMEG had great reviews. It takes a little getting used to but it's such a sleek and good looking unit. We have experimented with different coffee beans and the rough and fine grind settings to get the flavour we like. We have used whole milk also but oat milk is just as good. Definitely creamier taste. We still have to put the coffee in the microwave as it doesn't serve the coffee with milk at an acceptable temp. But overall it's a great machine. Still a little expensive.
Really very disappointed in this given the price that was paid. This should be absolutely seamless and a fantastic product. However it was very glitchy. Didn’t respond Often having to press buttons several times until the machine realised consistently didn’t recognise when the tray needed to be emptied and again did not act according to the instructions or what the bio said
this is an expensive machine bought for its simplicity of use, real bean to cup operation and size in a small kitchen. it looks good, is easy to use and keep clean and produces a decent black coffee/expresso drink of different types. however its milks drinks due to what appears to be to the lack of a decent pre heating milk function are poor. i have found that milk has to be first preheated externally of machine when using the milk function and without which this machine is not up to the job of for example producing a decent temperature hot chocolate or latte. i would not therefore recommend this machine due to its cost and there are other models including a SMEG with a steam wand and other makes and models on the market that can do all of this for the same price or ... Morethis is an expensive machine bought for its simplicity of use, real bean to cup operation and size in a small kitchen. it looks good, is easy to use and keep clean and produces a decent black coffee/expresso drink of different types. however its milks drinks due to what appears to be to the lack of a decent pre heating milk function are poor. i have found that milk has to be first preheated externally of machine when using the milk function and without which this machine is not up to the job of for example producing a decent temperature hot chocolate or latte. i would not therefore recommend this machine due to its cost and there are other models including a SMEG with a steam wand and other makes and models on the market that can do all of this for the same price or less albeit perhaps some may be not quite bean to cup or as small or good looking. to be honest a bit disappointing.
Everything is as you’d expect from Smeg. Clean lines and minimalist. As someone seeking a fully automated bean to cup experience with low maintenance, this ticked all the boxes. The only downside was the milk frother! For an item costing *removed by Feefo* (at my time of purchase) it is not good enough. Different brands of milk were used at the recommended temperature and the results were still poor. You will find that all media on the Smeg website regarding this item does not show the use of this feature, but does depict completed frothed drinks which is strange. Sadly had to return the item for this reason. I would definitely re-purchase again if this feature was improved!
