Comfortable, light weight and reasonably priced helmet. Seems to be pretty warm, though I have not yet had a chance to wear it on the snow. Seems to have all the necessary safety features without the extreme price sticker. Then only thing I wish it had some extra ventilation.

After spending my entire life skiing without a helmet I decided to buy one since I was trying to push the limits as to how fast I could go on most runs. I couldn’t justify the price of higher end helmets, so I went with the basic scout model. Quality helmet that has the right amount of features at an affordable price. Overall very happy with it, and I’m now on the helmet wagon.

All in all the fit is fine. Head stays warm enough, but my ears get a touch cold. Boa for the brain tightens down just fine, and loosens well enough, but the brow is just a touch too low. I cannot wear certain goggles with this helmet, otherwise it presses them into my nose. Beyond the fitment in the face-box area, this is a decent helmet. Ah, I spose it sits a tad tall on my head too. Not bad, wouldn't return it, but will probably shop for another helmet next year and pass this off to a friend.

Decent helmet that I got for a good price. I thought it would be too large for me since it's meant for rounder heads. Fits good, a little tight when wearing my mask.The only con is figuring out how to tighten the helmet and I could not find much information online. I visited my local ski shop shopping for helmets and they were able to show me how :) There is a small plastic strap on both sides of the inside of the helmet that you can adjust by pushing it into one of the small three holes.
The ear pads keep my ears super warm during freezing mornings. The size I purchased was true to size. My husband bought a Scout as well, but it was too small even though we measured exactly as the size chart instructed. Smith has great customer service and exchanged the helmet for the correct size!
This is my second pair of the Scout style, I just received a warranty replacement due to a defect. They are stylish and good quality but the replacement pair leaves an indent across my forehead between my eyebrows, so I have to pull them down on my nose so wear them or I look crazy when I take them off. My first pair did not do this so idk what the deal is.
Fit is excellent and the integration with my Smith goggles is superb. The buckle must not have been threaded correctly though… while riding a chairlift I tugged on my balaclava and the strap pulled right through. The cushion for the strap flew away, as did the tiny rubber band. I rethreaded the strap through the buckle and now it works like a charm, though I need to track down a new cushion piece. Excellent helmet, just check to be sure the strap is secure.
Head conferences were measured for both my husband and son, so I ordered a small and medium in this helmet according to the sites size chart. Neither fit correctly. I'm giving my son the medium but have to return the medium. Also, the size adjustment inside the helmet is cheaply made and did not work. Ordering a better model for my husband. Hoping returns will not be a hassle.
When there's something i like and that works well for me? I stick with it thoroughly. I've been riding Smith goggles since winter season of '98 - '99 and never once waivered to try another brand... it's always been Smith. Bluebird days, night riding, through white out conditions & coaching at different mountains around the world, Smith has been one of the few tried & true brands I've been using time and again. I now ride The I/O & Scout helmet (on days when it's deep or dumping the helmet lip keeps snow from getting in above the frame and collecting, then melting into the inside of the lens), 4D Mag & Code helmet on bluebird days or night riding. And of course various lenses.Smith for life.
Are use Smith to get my prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses. And it was a fabulous process. The customer support guided me through a special part of my prescription. They were so timely and got here well before the estimated arrival date my glasses are great there’s 30 they don’t scratch easily. They came with cases and lens wipes. Couldn’t be happier!
