This is a great helmet. It's light weight, and it fits perfectly. It's so comfortable that you forget you're wearing a helmet. Good ventilation and padding. Helmets have come a long way, and this helmet is perfect. Smith is a great company that continues to improve its products. Smith helmets are the only helmets I trust my head to be in.

I decided it was time to upgrade helmets this season and wanted an audio compatible one. This is my first Smith helmet and first audio compatible helmet, so I wanted to used it for several ski days, in a variety of conditions before my review. Overall, it is a great helmet, in a variety of conditions, from cold mid-winter to warmer spring skiing. The one drawback I noticed is the ear flaps let a fair amount of air by versus my old helmet, which led to cold ears during colder and windier ski days. On the other hand, the adjustable vents were great during warmer ski days to keep from overheating. I wear a 7-1/2 fitted baseball cap, and the Large size fits well either with nothing else on, or with a balaclava on the colder days.As for the audio, now that I figured out ... MoreI decided it was time to upgrade helmets this season and wanted an audio compatible one. Since this was my first audio helmet, I did not know that there were removable foam pads in each ear flap that need to be removed so your music chips fit better. On my first ski day, I unzipped the access pocket and put the chips in each ear flap, but left the pads in (totally my fault but not explained in the very brief instruction manual that came with the helmet). Of course the sound was very muffled and the ear flaps were uncomfortable after a couple hours of skiing with the extra bulk. When I got home, a buddy explained the removable pads (he has a Smith helmet) to me. Once I removed them, which was very easy, sound is great at low volume, and the helmet is all-day comfortable as expected. I mention this issue for anyone new to Smith audio compatible helmets, as I was, since it makes a huge difference but is not explained in the instructions. It seems intuitive now, but as a new helmet owner I was hesitant to start pulling stuff out of the flaps if it wasn't supposed to come out.All together I put roughly a dozen days on the new helmet this season, and would definitely purchase it again for its comfort and high quality safety features.

Seemed like a great helmet with the features I'd want, but once received it just didn't fit (weird pressure on the side). I'm near the upper end of the size range of large and it seemed a little small and wouldn't have had room for a balaclava, so maybe size up if you're right at the upper end of a size. I tried the XL later and it was ok, but still not great.Oddly, I didn't feel this Smith helmet worked great with my couple year old Smith goggles (top edge of goggles didn't line up great with the helmet). That was probably the biggest disappointment. Ended up returning and buying a Giro (not saying it's a better helmet, but it is interesting how it fit so differently.)In short, definitely try on with goggles before committing to this helmet (or any).

Great helmet. Cool features. Love the magnetic strap. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit like other Smith helmets. I ordered a medium, like I usually do and it is too small. Tried on a large at a store and it is too big. I bought this one on sale but by the time I got it, the next size up was gone. Idk why the sizes aren’t the same across helmet designs. The fit is the most important part. Too tight and uncomfortable
Awesome helmet so far!. This was a warranty replacement of the previous year model. But big applause for the customer service team at Smith. The vents weren't working on my previous helmet and I had only been able to wear it 3 times before the vents crapped out. I contacted Smith and they promptly sent me a certificate for the value of my helmet to purchase a new one, of my choice. Due to end of season, and low inventories - they suggested I wait until the fall to buy. I followed their instructions and the certificate still worked. Hats off to Smith for standing behind their products. I know a lot of other companies that could take some pointers from the SMITH care team. Thank you!
I own another Smith helmet for mountain biking and though that I could use the same sizing for a ski helmet. At first the helmet was much tighter than my MTB helmet despite being fit for the same size (L). After taking it out a few times so far this season, the helmet ended up being a great fit. It is snug, so there isn't much room for a layer underneath like a skullcap or beanie, but the helmet has provided adequate warmth in 0° weather here in CO.The MIPS system is very easy to use and allows for the most comfortable, yet tight fit you can get. The reason that I started trusting this system was because a family member got into what would have been a life-threatening accident, but was out of the ICU within a week of the accident due to their new MIPS equipped ... MoreI own another Smith helmet for mountain biking and though that I could use the same sizing for a ski helmet. The reason that I started trusting this system was because a family member got into what would have been a life-threatening accident, but was out of the ICU within a week of the accident due to their new MIPS equipped Smith helmet. Because of this, I am drawn to the brand, and because of the comfort and protection, I will continue to use the product. The only thing that I might have done differently was gotten an XL and cranked down on the MIPS so that I had the ability to wear an extra layer if need be. Other than that, great helmet!
This helmet fits great, and is really functional. I tried this helmet on in comparison to the Smith Vantage of the same size, and this helmet is designed for people with longer head shapes. The only downside is that if there is any wind or you have decent speed, it sounds like there are banshees chasing after you. The sounds seems to be coming from the ear covers, so could be some options for fixing it.Very comfortable and packs well for tours, just wouldn't get it if you're into ripping groomers at high speeds.
Good fitting helmet. Didn’t notice it when it was on. Robust but not cumbersome or tiring to wear. Goggle retainer is good. Ear covers are toastie and the vents were a good feature in warmer weather skiing. Oakley MOD3 a good alternative but both are very good lids.
Fits well, similar to the older Smith Vantage helmet. Adjustment system in the back similar to the Boa system, though only tightens on the back and sides (not the front). The back adjustment does not move up and down.Ear pads feel slightly farther back than the Vantage but still very warm. If the chin strap is not tight enough, wind can enter through the front and cause a slightly annoying whistling sound.Works well with the Frontier goggles with minimal movement. Anti-fogging integration works well.
Venting is quite important for a 'hot head' like me! Looks like this helmet will be the bomb for cooling my noggin. BOA system for size adjustment is a no-brainer, and the small bill ridge keeps pesky rearward goggle shots from happening. All topped with a cool matte grey finish and strong fastex type buckle system with and Alek ready ear flaps, what more could you ask for??
