I’ve been through about 8 to 10 pairs of Smiths in about eight years. I love the outdoors and fish at the coast. The most recent purchase are always falls off my hat, so they’re getting beat up pretty bad. I wish they made some with smaller frames or had some rubber or a piece of something rough or abrasive on the inside of the frames so this wouldn’t happen. Still love them and still a true Smith fan. Optics are amazing.

Expectations for the Lowdown Slim2 not met.

I had high hopes for these but was let down. I have a small face so I got the women's frame. They were still too big for my narrow nose and slipped. This would not be an issue for most people with normal size noses. The big issue for me was that the Chromapop lens at first made colors seem brighter but then I realized that they made everything look wrong. What at first looked yellowish in the distance ended up being white or silver or some other lighter color up close. That was disorienting!I am really disappointed as my favorite pair of running sunglasses were a pair of Smith's. I expected to have the same result but didn't.

I'm honestly a bit disappointed in these Lowdown Slim 2 sunglasses. I had a warranty replacement from Lowdown Slim 2's from almost 10 years ago (which I'm thankful for) and I also have another pair of gold mirror Lowdown Slim 2s that I got a few years ago. I loved the gold lens and the feel of the sunglasses so much that I figured I'd grab another pair to have on hand. These ones I just got feel so much cheaper than both my previous ones. Like a lot cheaper. My $25 Goodr sunglasses frames feel less cheap than these. Not only that, the gold color of the lens is completely different. My old gold ones were a nice amber warm tone, these are blue and cold. Just not at all what I expected unfortunately getting the same exact glasses. But they are quite a few years apart. ... MoreI'm honestly a bit disappointed in these Lowdown Slim 2 sunglasses. Fine utility but feel cheap and flimsy
26 March 2024

These glasses work well for military pilots, as the non-polarized lenses allow full and unobstructed views of cockpit displays. The black color and understated logos allow these glasses to conform to military dress and appearance regulations. However, the frames look and feel cheap. The gloss finish and light material make these glasses appear to have been purchased from a gas station for $7. I’m throughly unimpressed by these glasses in light of their high price. They work well for my needs, but the quality doesn’t seem to justify the cost.

Great Pair of Glasses!

Can’t say enough good things about my RX Lowdown Slim 2 glasses from Smith. Sort of a classic Wayfarer style, yet uniquely different with Smith’s own design touch. Mine are progressive with a “transition” type lens that gets nicely dark outside. If you’re looking at RX glasses, do not hesitate to buy from Smith. Their optics are very high quality, AND their customer service is incredible; if only other companies treated their customers like Smith does. They earned my loyalty and I am definitely a brand advocate.

Great sunglasses when they hold up, disappointing customer service
18 November 2023

I've been a lifelong advocate for Smith eyewear, primarily ski goggles and sunglasses. I have two pairs of Lowdown Slims for myself and bought my father a pair for Christmas last year. Inexplicably, the rubber nose pads fell apart on one pair last fall, despite having been stored in a cloth glasses case whenever not in use. Reached out to customer service and was delighted to hear that Smith would give me a $200 voucher to replace the glasses, then they walked it down to $169, and then $160. When I asked the customer service rep, Mayela, why the value had dropped twice, she said "I don't understand you but I didn't send you a voucher for 200 thanks". The only reason the glasses can somewhat be replaced is because there is a sale going on, and I still have to pay for ... MoreI've been a lifelong advocate for Smith eyewear, primarily ski goggles and sunglasses. Unfortunately, my next pair of sunglasses will more than likely be from another brand.

Lowdown slim 2

The glasses themselves fit great, I have a slim face and have had trouble with other women’s glasses. I sprung for the glass lenses because they are supposed to be stronger and less likely to scratch. Well, don’t waste your money. Mine scratched in less than 3 months of owning them and SMITH won’t do anything about it. Because of an eye condition I rarely wear my contacts and rarely wear my SMITH sunglasses. I’ve probably worn them 5 times. They’ve always been taken care of, never dropped, and always placed in a case for protection. I’m just really disappointed in the quality. These glasses were $245. For that kind of money, you’d think you’d get better quality and customer service

Nose pads crumble, Smith refuses to fix or send replacement pads
1 July 2024

Nose pads are very soft rubber and degrade faster than other brands even after gentle use. Despite the Smith warranty that states nose pads are covered, Smith refuses to send replacement nose pads or make them available for sale or repair service. The company claims nose pads are unavailable, even though these glasses are still in production. Thanks to a 5-cent part and Smith’s refusal to stand behind its products, my $150 glasses are worthless.

I had mine for 3 years now and I loved then since day one. Now, they are still solid and look great. Chromapop really loves up to it's name. Polarized is a must for everyday use. Quality is greater than other sunglasses I had from another popular brand. I liked my Smith sunglasses so much I wanted to buy a pair for my girlfriend, turns out her favorite was also the Lowdown Slim 2 model, and she really loves them too! Now we look like we wanted to match! Only bad side is that it doesn't include a case. It should, because with everyday sunglasses you often take then on and off, store in a backpack, etc... Had to purchase one separately.

Smith fan, many styles, this one is sub par

I ordered these because my hubs broke my fav pair of smiths.. went with this style as I have a smaller face and was hoping medium coverage would prove a little better side coverage driving and outdoors. fishing.. etc. they seem more low profile in that sense, I can see in my peripheral there isnt any coverage - its got that lifestyle low-coverage fit. not a medium. They do appear lighter weight than my other smiths that broke that are also lifestyle glasses. My main issue is that they are opal blue mirror, you can see right thru them they aren't 100% reflective, thought I was buying a pair of glasses with mirrored lenses.. and they also have a dark brown shade to the lens which I guess I'm not sure if I'm a fan or not of that. waiting for a sunny day!
