The Smith Men's Mission MIPS Snow Helmet is where classic styling meets everlasting value! The all-new Mission brings the proven fit and function of Smith helmets to an audience who will never again call this piece of gear "just a helmet." It has a regular adjustable climate control with 14 vents. And the adjustable dial fit system gives you a perfect fit. MIPS is used to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in the case of an oblique impact. Smith helmets are created to absorb direct impacts very efficiently and when combined with MIPS, Smith helmets absorb oblique forces better by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner.

The helmet fits great. It keeps my head pretty warm on cold days too without having to wear any beanie cap underneath. I have Smith goggles that fit the helmet good BUT, the goggles slide out of the goggle keeper in the back of the helmet all the time. I dropped my goggles more than once this season when wearing them up on the helmet. I have never had this happen before so I think I got a bad one on my helmet honestly. So, I would give 5 stars for the fit, but you get 3 for not so great quality check on the flimsy goggle keeper on the back.

I upgraded from a lesser brand of ski helmet very excited for Smith's quality. I think the helmet looks cool and like the color. It certainly does the job! However I was disappointed in quality and comfort. The dial on the back of the head and the vent openings feel cheap and frail. I measured my head and got the correct size, but it barely fits and does not work with any extra layers. Tightening the dial also does not seem to form to my head as well as my previous cheaper helmet that felt more comfortable and had higher quality materials. I use audio chips and when in the helmet are extremely uncomfortable because they do not sit well inside the muffs and press into my ears if I want the strap buckled (which of course I do). I've skied with this helmet for few days now and I have to say, I'm very happy with my purchase. If there are any downsides, it would be the adjustment knob is tough to turn with gloves on, and if you want to clean the liner you have to manually move the adjustment wires. But those are minor gripes. It's very comfortable, and I don't even notice the chin strap. Initially I was concerned if it would keep my head warm enough but after starting a recent morning in zero degree weather, I wasn't the least bit cold. On warmer days, the adjustable vents easily slide open to let some air in and keep you comfortable. Best of all, the front rim aligns perfectly with Smith goggles.

Finally a helmet that fits! This helmet is an Asian fit helmet. Don't be confused, "round contour" is new terminology for what used to be called "Asian fit" but that description is being omitted due to complaints from snowflake Asians. There used to be "Asian fit googles" but now it's "Low nose bridge goggles". Stop being so sensitive. Anyway, I've tried many helmets and the small & mediums always hurt my head and the large was too loose. This Asian fit helmet fit my Asian head perfectly. The helmet is not too snug and it's not loose. Give it a try if you're of Asian descent or have a round head and other helmets did not work for you
I have been using this helmet for less than a season and I already want to get rid of it. I ski with a backpack for avalanche gear and the open-bottomed goggle fastener caught the top loop of my backpack, pulling my head backwards so I could not see where I was going. Thankfully on this occasion I stopped safely and managed to free myself but next time I may not be so lucky, furthermore, the goggle clip is now bent outwards, rendering it useless and also making it more likely for this to happen again. I will not be buying another Smith helmet so the 30% voucher offered by Smith support will not be put to use.
Great helmet, XL is really XL. Has removable liner and removable pads in the ear flaps for placing bluetooth sound. I have tried and returned European models where XL was anything but. Removable liner means you can wash it easily so it won't get skunky. Also, the ventilation system seems to be top notch but I have not yet been on the slopes. Exterior of helmet has flutes and vents to as to avoid the "Bucket head" look.
I struggled to find a ski helmet that fit my head properly. My head measures between 59 and 60cm. Among those I tried at the local store was a regular fit Smith Mission, large (59-63cm). It didn't fit quite right. Specifically, it was tight on the sides of my head. I decided to try the round contour fit Smith Mission, but the store didn't have that in stock. Therefore, I ordered it online. The round contour fit sizing is different than the standard fit sizing. Round contour M is 59-63 cm, while the large is 63-67 cm. For regular fit, L is 59-63 cm, and XL is 63-67 cm.Based on this, and my 59-60cm head, I ordered the M round contour. It took less than a week to come. When I tried it on it was a tad too small, but it seemed that the shape was good for my head.I then ordered the round contour L, which also took a week to come. This fit my head perfectly. It is the most comfortable helmet I have ever tried on.I will be returning the round contour M, thankful of the return policy (though, i guess I wouldn't have ordered a helmet online without the return policy). The photos show the round contour M next to a regular fit L. As you can see, the helmets look about identical (and have the same size specifications of 59-63cm). However, they do not feel the same. The regular fit L squeezes the side of my head, while the round contour M is too small all around. It would be great if they had the round contour sizes in the stores to try on, as I couldn't rely on the size chart to pick the right one for me.The ski resorts aren't open for the season yet, so I still haven't taken the helmet on the slopes. Therefore, I can't comment on the warmth or ventilation. However, I assume it's the same as the regular fit helmet, for which there are numerous reviews.
Excellent protection, good snug fit. Was wearing a Giro for a few years and I had trouble with the adjustable size dial. I’m between sizes but on the large side of the divide. I would crank the dial down as far as it would go. It fit well at first but I after a couple of hours the helmet was so loose that, if I went over rough terrain, the front of the helmet would go down over my eyes, which doesn’t help visibility at all. I’ve not had the Smith helmet long enough to give a thorough assessment, but my initial impression is “thumbs up.”
I wore the helmet several times for hours around the house before finally selecting this helmet over the Sweet Protection Switcher. Since Smith is available in most ski stores, strongly recommend trying them in the store before purchasing online, take your balaclava and goggles with you. I wanted a yellow helmet, which stores don't normally carry. The fit is a little tight, my head measurement puts me towards the high end of the Medium. My Balaclava made it even a little tighter, barely used the adjustment knob. Little bit of pressure on the ears after a day of skiing. Overall, not a bad helmet.
Clip is kept on the strap by a tiny ,flimsy rubber band rather than the strap having a stop sewn at the end. Probably was done that way to cut costs. I can't think of why it would be fine this way as opposed to every other strap on every other pice of gear I own. After having fallen off a couple times, today it fell off again and I lost the clip. Now I effectively don't have a helmet. Ear pads are really uncomfortable and cannot be removed. I had a Giro at half the price that had removable ear pads.Looking back, I've been disappointed by one thing or another with every Smith product I've purchased-helmet, goggles, sunglasses. Ultimately, seems way overpriced for a low quality product.
