A SOG KNIFE I CAN AFFORD SAYS A LOT IN ASIA

The market here in Asia is flush with knockoffs since original US Brands cost pretty significant. I couldn’t say that for the ACE. I like it grippy. I like its blade thickness. I like it’s balance. I like the cut groove on. The sheath.

Good knife overall, great knife for the price.

Some cheap knives are made out of junk and made to look pretty, but don't hold up to life, others are made out of good sturdy materials but hold off on the bells and whistles. So far, my only complaints are that the machining is a tad (and I mean just a TAD) shoddy. But nothing that can't be fixed with an hour and a good stone. Comes out of the package plenty sharp, but can take and hold a razors edge. The sheath looks a little . . . weak, but so far it has held up well and it holds onto the knife. Like I said it is a darn good little knife, and for the money and with a little bit of touch up, it quickly turns into an excellent knife.

I've had this knife for several months now and it has been amazing. It held a great edge and worked well for EDC as well as a work knife. I made a sheath for it because the one it came with didn't work well for left handed application. Unfortunately while I was hiking I fell on my hip and the blade snapped from the handle. I don't blame the knife because i don't think many knifes could have held up. Overall a great Knife.

Handle makes the knife
28 July 2023

Owned for 2 or 3 months now, and can with confidence say the following. Best handle EVER! I have more expensive knives I don't wear because this handle is too comfortable to pass up. Its an open grip style with finger sub hilt, pommel biased palm swell, and conchoidal sculpting macro texture. It works in every grip angle, and shifts easily on the fly. Sheath is great, but clip is iffy, and I epoxied mine down. The blade steel sucks. Strait up. But for the money I understand. Mine is the earlier 8cr13mov version and is definitely under the standard blade 58hrc. Haven't tested their 7cr17. I would gladly pay a much higher price for this exact knife with a thicker blade, higher quality steel like S35VN, premium slimline profile, reversible pancake sheath, and premium ... MoreOwned for 2 or 3 months now, and can with confidence say the following. This is SOGs most brilliant design hands down.

It's not worth the price
14 March 2020

I bought this knife on clearance which made it worth the purchase but if I had paid 25-30 dollars I'd be upset. The blade is rather weak and bends easily and the sheath is eh... It's just plastic (not kydex) and the clip is secured on one side non reversible and I'm not sure how long the clip will even last because it has a lot of side to side movement now after just a few uses. The steel does sharpen up easy and the overall look isn't bad I just wish it was a bit stronger or maybe thicker behind the edge. It'll be a fine slicer though if you can find it on sale otherwise there are better options.

Love this knife!
4 January 2022

I received my Ace through my monthly subscription box (bespoke) roughly 4 months ago. It's been in my EDC setup ever since. Perfect for utility and very lightweight. Belt clip still has perfect retention and the knife shows no signs of failing. I highly recommend this knife to anyone looking for a budget friendly workhorse.

Love this knife, it is a good quality knife.
27 June 2018

I had seen this knife at my local Walmart Store several weeks ago and had decided I wanted one for my collection. I have several fixed bladed knives but I wanted a SOG. The knife is light and strong and came very sharp out of the package. I really like the rubber grips. The fit my hand very well and are so comfortible. The blade is stone washed and sharp. My sheath is a camo colored and hard plastic. The clip is partially open at the bottom and can be slipped onto my belt or pants pocket. This my first SOG but not my last. I would recomend this knife to all the other collectors out there.

Not to shabby.
29 July 2023

Ok so I bought this knife a few years ago just for camping and other random activities that I could use it for. Used this in salt water when I was on a Florida beach metal detecting and just threw it in my trunk almost 2 years ago and didn’t clean it. Re found it cleaning out my trunk about a week ago the only rust spot was a small dot on the jibbing on the top. Still had a f ton of sand in the sheath and on it. Just sharpened it up some and used some wd40 and a little brush and the rust spot is practically gone. Been using it for yard work now. One of my favorite budget friendlys I’ve ever owned! Would recommend to anyone.

Ok fixed blade

Knife is fine for the price. Handle is a little small for large hands. Blade came very dull. Was able to sharpen, but would have expected blade to be sharp. Overall is a good size and performs fine

Unwanted Purchase
9 August 2019

I originally bought a SOG from Wal-Mart to fill a specific need. It came with a camouflage sheath, which I didn't want, but was the only option. I tried to order a replacement black sheath and was informed that none were available and was offered a leather sheath as compensation with the idea being that it would fit the knife I had. It didn't, yet the same knife with a black sheath was available for purchase on the website. So, in order to get the sheath that I wanted I had to order another entire knife and sheath set. Don't get me wrong, I like the knife, I just didn't really need two of them. Needless to say, I now have two of the exact same knives, only with different sheaths. One is an EDC, the other gets to collect dust.
