A polished product that lives up to the hype

I bought this product when my old Sonicare Diamond started to get really loud and just didn't brush as well anymore. Unboxing it was a treat. The packaging, the handle, brushes and charging case all looked really good. The app worked well with the brush and I was loving it. I particularly loved the tongue brush that came with the box. After about three months, the toothbrush went from a nice quiet buzz to extremely loud and the brush function just wasn't doing it's job. I thought, oh no! Not again. So, I contacted Philips through the app and was given the phone number to contact them. The support centre for Australia were extremely good. The toothbrush is awesome and does what it says it will do. My gums feel healthy, my teeth look whiter and I'm pretty happy in general with the product. I also trust Philips to replace the handle should anything go wrong again. Fingers crossed.

I will start this review by saying this is hands down the best toothbrush I've ever owned in how well it cleans. My dentist actually asked what I had started doing differently when I had been using it a little over 6 months. The app is alright, I dabbled in it but mostly haven't used it.That being said, the first one we had broke within 5 months. The metal post where the brushes attach came loose and would no longer brush. I had registered it and filed a warranty claim online. Phillips did send a new one and I returned the old, figuring I had just had a one-off bad experience. Then 6 months later the same thing happened again. After some googling, it appears this is a well-known issue with Phillips toothbrushes. After some googling, it appears this is a well-known issue with Phillips toothbrushes. Being that I'm fairly handy, I've just been repairing itself as it happens since (it is a screw which comes loose over time). However, if I'm spending almost $400 on a toothbrush, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect flawless functionality. Instead, we have a VERY nice toothbrush, which requires disassembly and repair. As I said, it is a very nice toothbrush. But the gall required to sell this at a ridiculous price point and have this glaring an Achilles heel just makes me question their dedication to making quality products. As it stands, I cannot recommend this toothbrush at this exorbitant price point.

Improved quality over previous models

They overall quality and design has been improved from previous models. The old model that I had before had a power button that used to stick in the on position and sometimes also in the off position. The new design has eliminated this issue. The charger stand is also an improvement over the glass charger making it easier to keep clean.Unfortunately, the toothbrush is annoying to use, the power keeps dropping out when the toothbrush isn't happy with the way that you are brushing your teeth. It drives me a little crazy each time I use the toothbrush.I regret getting this model for this reason.

The best part of this toothbrush is the case and type C charger. The case is compact and beautiful and the magnetic closure is good too although I wish it were a little stronger. The toothbrush itself works great. I would recommend to someone who does NOT change brush modes. I however do change brush modes. You can't do that from the handle of the brush, you must open the app on phone to do so. When you are rushing, that is not feasible. I also thought that this was a smart brush that would change modes based on the brush head being used but to my disappointment, that is not a feature either. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. It's not slippery, just weightless... feels cheap, especially when compared to the original sonicare Diamondclean. If you are like me, you want something beautiful in your bathroom and this brush just is not as beautiful as my white and silver original sonicare diamondclean. Speaking of white and silver, what are these horrible colors this 9900 comes in??? I have the champagne color thinking it would be tolerable but I'm definitely having buyers remorse. I have gone back to using my non smart diamond clean. One last thing, the app does not guide you to brush the biting surfaces of teeth so when you run your brush over those surfaces you will take time away from other surfaces and your app will say you did not brush for 2 minutes. The touch up option on app is hit or miss as it sometimes pops up and sometimes it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and just buy the non smart original diamondclean.

Poor quality product. Falls apart.
3 September 2024

Terrible quality toothbrush. I am a dental hygienist and for all these years I was promoting Sonicate products. My last experience with prestige tooth brush was extremely disappointing. First one I bought had to be replaced a few months later. The replacement lasted 18 months or so and broke eventually. I call the customer service where I was told that two year warranty only applied to the first tooth brush and I need to buy a new unit. I also noticed that my other diamond clean toothbrush start fading away. I see the decline of quality over the years. Very disappointing. So expensive! I can’t believe how much it costs to a public. I pay a discounted price which in my opinion is way too expensive! I definitely will rethink what I recommend to my patients.

Rattling after 2 weeks of use
6 July 2024

Brand new and started rattling after 2 weeks of use. I properly take care of it and one day it just started rattling and sounding odd. I initiated an exchange and they gave me 2 faulty replacements. The first replacement was rattling worse than the one I had and the rubber seal was not aligned so it created an opening. The second replacement also had a tampered rubber seal and some rattling but not as bad. The agent I had talked to said I would be getting a brand new replacement but it seems like I got a refurbished item!!!Spoke to 2 chat agents and they were all rude. Ending the chat with 'please let the battery charge for at least 24 hrs then reach back out' then asking if I had further questions then leaving right after without giving me a chance to reply.

Rolls Royce of Toothbrushes!

Although, I don’t like the hefty price tag. I feel like it does make a difference in creating better habits on how to effectively brush your teeth and keeping you accountable. I know what you might be thinking…You are out of your mind! Why on earth would anybody need lessons…This toothbrush not only feels premium, it makes me feel like I’ve gotten out of the dentist office. The app is very helpful and probably the MAIN reasons as to why the price is so high. You have your own personal assistant to help you just like you would at the dentist office for your consistent monthly cleanings. As you get more in tune with your toothbrush, it slowly starts to tailor your needs and movements. You can add areas of concerns, like sensitivity, gum health, etc. It might not be ... MoreAlthough, I don’t like the hefty price tag. However, I would much rather pay premium price to maintain and avoid any dental mishaps. Health is priceless and this is an exception. Bravo!

Good, stylish, brush excelent. The only problem - it doesn't have any AI. Generally, Philips introduced unified head, stylish design and charging, 3 intensivity levels, sensor that alerts of scrubbing or high pressure and... that's it. App gives more tuning possibilities, but in fact, you do not it for daily use. And it doesn't actually perform any correct zoning and mapping how good you clean teeth. [Rewarded Review] expensive to but and operate, bad app performance

Great toothbrush, but the app needs help, and the "brush head life is too short for the price you pay for replacement brush heads. The toothbrush itself works amazing. My teeth feel clean and instead of brushing in quadrants, it has you brushing in sixths. I actually like this! So from a basic performance aspect, this brush is amazing!But.......the app is very inconsistent. I will be brushing the back of my teeth and the app does not seem to realize this. Then, after I finish brushing, it wants me to go back over the areas that I missed, but I already brushed them. To spend $300 on a toothbrush with an app that doesn't work is frustrating. Replacement brush heads are also very expensive, so this is a bit frustrating. I believe that I can stretch the life of the brush head to 5-6 months, but it annoyingly vibrates after every brushing to tell me that I need to replace the brush head. Nothing that disturbed the cleanliness of my teeth, but it is very annoying. So, again a great toothbrush for your oral hygiene, but if you are buying for the other advantages, buy a cheaper model.
