I bought one of these acouple of years ago to listen to Spotify. I don't understand all the praise about the sound quality. It has good bass for it's size but the highs are quite muted. However, I recently bought a Sonos Beam sound bar plus another Sonos one to replace my old receiver system. This setup works beautifully. The sound bar fills in the "highs" that are lacking in the Ones, plus the ones provive excellent rear suround audio separation. So as a stand-alone speaker I give the Sonos One a 3. As part of a surround system, I give them a 5.

I bought this speaker as it was highly recommended to me for the sound quality, as well as receiving an accomodation on the unit. Set it up, and it sounds great. So, I wanted to try connecting my computer to it...only to find out it doesn't have Bluetooth, or a 3.5 auxillary jack. On a $230 speaker! You can only use this speaker with a phone, using certain services, limited to Apple Music, Spotify, Youtube, and similar services. On a $230 speaker?? This is unacceptable and Sonos, as well as Best Buys product page needs to make it more clear on the website and on the box before people go out and spend their money. Will probably end up returning as I need something that will work with my computer as well as my phone. That is something that I just assumed it would have for this kind of price, especially in the year 2021.

Good sound, didn't need the mic after all.
31 October 2022

After doing research and purchasing (then returning) several other brands that have better sound quality, I ended up purchasing the Sonos One and have been very happy with the results so far. They don't have the best sound quality, but their size, ease of use and app make up for that in my opinion. We have a few throughout the house, like one in the kitchen, one in our bedroom. It's plenty loud for just a small speaker and doesn't get in the way. I thought we would end up using the voice assistant built in, but honestly using the already home integrate Google assistant was better, so we just muted the mic on this and then bought a few others without the mic. It's the only device out of everything else I own that wouldn't connect to my regular WiFi, so I just had to ... MoreAfter doing research and purchasing (then returning) several other brands that have better sound quality, I ended up purchasing the Sonos One and have been very happy with the results so far. Overall, I'd buy them again vs the other brands with better quality sound.

Great little speakers
9 January 2022

I have a pair of these configured to produce stereo audio. The sound from these speakers is excellent, particularly for what they are. Do they sound as good as my regular audio system, which has a subwoofer? No. However, if you turn up the bass setting and place the treble where you prefer, the quality of the sound is surprisingly good. I don't know that it gets excessively loud, but its more than loud enough for my home. But you can really hear sounds that you may not on lesser speakers. In addition, I pay for Google Premium, so I have paid access to YouTube Music premium. It works flawlessly with the Sonos speakers using Google Assistant. Setup was simple and instructions if needed are on the Sonos website. I looked at Bose for a higher price, but they couldn't do the Google Assistant and YouTube Music thing. I asked them directly on chat. This is a somewhat nascent area, so don't take my word for it. Things can change very quickly. I recently heard Bose was moving in the direction of increased Google Assistant compatibility.

Music to my Ears!
31 December 2022

I bought two pair of Sonos One second gen for a 14 x 14 living space; fulls the room with wonderful sound! First, it was very easy to pair, took less than 10 mins for both pairs. App was very intuitive to make setup a breeze. Second, I was able to pair Apple and Amazon music with a quick username and password. Third, I sit back enjoy my music! As a side note, I use Apple TV and it connects to my Sono One pairs easily. My next purchase will be a Sonos sub mini to add an extra kick when I watch movies etc...All in all, super happy with my purchase. Highly recommend!

Nearly 5 out of 5 (Satisfied Customer)

Aside from occasional glitches with the Amazon app/functionality, I've been really pleased with this smart speaker. No speaker this small is going to blow my mind in terms of audio, but the Sonos One (Gen 2) is pretty impressive. It has surprisingly clear and full sound with significantly better base than I expected. It's not so much that it has impressive bass as much as it just doesn't sound like it's missing anything. From a speaker this small, it's honestly impressive. I like the phone app and the ability to use different services from one smart speaker. Since switching from an Amazon Echo to this one though, I do notice I occasionally have to reboot it to get through a glitch where Alexa thinks she has played the music I requested when she hasn't. Going back and forth with the Amazon Echo, the problem appears to be with the Sonos. It happens pretty infrequently and rebooting the Sonos resolves it each time. I'm guessing a software update will fix it permanently at some point. I didn't exactly what to shell out real money for such a small speaker, but feel like the quality has been worth it.

So Similar To The Era 100, Buy This Instead!
7 May 2023

I can compare this directly to the Sonos Era 100 as we bought both at the same time. I can’t discern any notable difference in the sound between the two. It could be that we have them in two different room types, but I would not hesitate to recommend buying the One instead of the Era 100 while the One is still being sold. The cost savings (especially to get an open box One instead of a full-price Era 100) is fairly dramatic. We bought this to replace an Echo Dot. We still use Alexa with it but the sound is in a completely different league. It fills the room with music like the Dot never could. Alexa seems to be as responsive as the Dot as long as you give it a moment to acknowledge that it’s awake before you give it a command. These were ok. Sound does not match price.
24 December 2022

Wanted to get some wireless speakers. Tried these. It's a good enough speaker, but the value proposition is wrong. You have to use their software, you can't just hook it up to Bluetooth, and while the sound is ok, it's just... well... ok. They in no way compare to the Edifier s1000 for a chunk less money, which sound... just heavenly. Dont' get me wrong, Sonos puts out a solid product. They just need more competition to make them increase the value for the premium they charge, or lower their price.

Top Quality Home Speaker

Awesome sound quality and build in this wifi speaker. Setup is super easy and voice control works great via Sonos voice or Google voice. The sound doesn't get distorted at high volume and even sounds great at very low volume. Touch controls on top of speaker are very responsive. More units can be added to build a multiple room system where each speaker can be individually controlled and can play different content simultaneously. This is a wifi speaker, not a Bluetooth speaker where you connect via Bluetooth and stream from your phone or computer. It does currently have limited Bluetooth connectivity for setup.
