When I turn on the sub, the ARC does not play certain audio frequencies immediately, it "passes" them to the SUB. However, the ARC could reproduce a much larger bass space - to my ears. The SUB can produce very thunderous bass, but it tires my ears very quickly when listening to music. I tried drastically turning down the volume in the app (maybe I'm around -4 or -5 now). I'm still not satisfied, somehow I constantly feel a sense of lack, I feel like I'm losing something from the music and getting bad resonances instead. I've tried moving the SUB, put it behind the couch, next to the TV, in front, behind, but somehow I keep feeling and hearing that the ARC alone sounds much better than with the SUB. I'm very sorry I didn't get a chance to try a SUB Mini, it might work more harmoniously with the system, but I've seen the SUB Gen3 recommended for the ARC everywhere. It didn't work for me, my partner watches e.g. Netflix without turning the SUB off in the app, he is so disturbed by the sound, which he says is also orphaned. When playing music, I also have the feeling that the system control "cuts" the frequencies in the wrong place, and with SUB on, the ARC sounds worse. The premium nature of the product itself is not in question, SONOS probably created the iPhone of speakers (although perhaps that title would have been better earned by VIFA if they could have improved further).Every time I update the software I expect that the situation will somehow improve, in fact I would be very happy if the ARC could somehow be forced to sound exactly the same as if the SUB was not connected. That alone would improve the sound of my SONOS system at home. So the overall effect for me so far is mediocre at best, and I'm a bit disappointed.

I would go with the Samsung soundbar system.

The frustrating thing is it looks like you are there and it does not open to allow access within the app. I have used a quality Samsung soundbar that came with a sub and it set up easy and was easy to control and adjust. You can adjust the Samsung components with the included remote, it is easy and sounds nearly as good as the Sonos products. It pains me to say that it is a waste of money to have premium quality that is unusable. The Sonos sub Gen3 is a huge waste of money.

I decided to add a sub to my Arc to provide a great, overall sound experience. The Arc was up and running in no time. However, the sub literally took hours and a good amount of research to connect. Within the app, it will state to "turn on the sub" but will not indicate how to do this; is it done via a button on the sub or simply plug it in?To make a long story short, if you live in an apartment community with bulk Wi-Fi, don't plan on an easy install of a sub. I ended up having to set up my own network in order for this to actually work, which took some time to figure out, and frustration along the way. I'm not sure why it was so seamless setting up the Arc on the same network, but the sub, as stated above, was very challenging. I added a 48" LG OLED to my gaming setup and decided I wanted a Sonos Beam for my audio. I bought the Beam during the holidays on sale and decided the instant I set it up I'd build a surround setup. Well, fast forward a couple of months and my wife wants an Arc for the living room. While they were on sale for the Super Bowl we decided to get the Arc and a Sub to go with it. I haven't set the Arc up yet, but I did decide to use the Sub with the Beam. I bought two One SLs (used) for the rears. The room I'm in is a medium to large size bedroom. Having said that, I plan to get the Sub Mini when I take the Sub to the living room.I had to go through setting it up twice to get it to recognize everything. I already had the Beam and SLs paired. When I went to connect the Sub it couldn't find my existing system. It saw the room, but didn't see the equipment. No worries. I reset the Sub and tried again and it worked flawlessly. Had it worked the first time I'd have had it fully connected in less than 10 minutes.I currently have it set up under my desk and it is probably the best sub I've ever had. We currently have a Nakamichi 7.2.2 surround system in the living room and the single Sonos Sub delivers the low ends with more feeling and clarity than the two with the Nakamichi system. I really love the sound and can't wait to hook it up to the Arc and probably two Era 300s.Once I hook up the Arc I'll add how the Sub sounds to that review.Overall, I'm very happy with all the products I've gotten from Sonos. I expected it to sound great and fill this moderately sized area with great sound. It hasn't disappointed me.The first thing I did after setting up Trueplay was to search for a list of must watch scenes to see how the system sounded. "6 Underground" blew me away with the sound and feel of the boat magnet scene. It really shows the capability of the Sub.I realize Sonos isn't for everyone. For what I wanted and the ease of connecting components as I go, this is the ideal system.I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has the money, and wants to get a premium surround system. I've gotten everything on sale so far. So if you have the patience, you can get it for much less than normal.

Sonos Sub Gen3 and More...

Well, what can I say to the confusion other than if you were wondering about the Sub Gen3 value and Sonos in general and if one should invest I can say YES! I cannot believe the audio quality that has transpired from including the Sub Gen3 to my Sonos Beam and two Sonos One surround sound speakers. The frequency freedom the Sub has given to the Beam and surround speakers is nothing short of remarkable from enhancing mid-range and higher frequencies, the lower frequencies the Sub delivers are amazing and is a system that stands alone in the market place. I am delighted both with the Sonos audio quality and technical service. IMPORTANT: I have had issues regarding speakers being dropped from the system for "no apparent reason." The frustrating "dropped speaker" problem was to do with the WiFi speed, and splitting the router into two WiFi frequencies that was easy even for me being technology incompetent and being guided by the provider, ensuring that the 5Ghz WiFi was split into two feeds giving both a 5Ghz feed and a 2.4Ghz feed for the Sonos system immediately solved the dropped speaker issue. So, if you are wondering about Sonos I can say that my experience has been consistently one of satisfaction, both from a product quality perspective and the dedicated quality of Sonos' technical support team. It is the people that make any organization, as we all do, and if we fail to deliver our respective organizations also fail. Let your ears do the talking and trust the company to do the rest.

Leaving curry’s more than disappointed, I decided to try Richer Sounds. Boy was this the best decision of the week. The level of service I received was incredible and speaking to people who are knowledgeable and passionate makes such a huge difference. This is what most people dream of when thinking about making quite a large purchase on speakers and is what you certainly don’t get online. If my wife wasn’t with me at the time, I’m sure I would have bought more! A fresh of breath air actually to be sold something by someone who clearly enjoys what they do. Thank you!As for the speakers, I not going to get into the tech stuff as it’s all available online, however, I thought I would share my personal thoughts. I have been thinking about buying a sound bar for a while as we watch a lot of family films in our house and listen to a lot of music and I have been reading lots of reviews and watching a lot videos on YouTube to research what I should be buying. The Sonos beam and sub kept coming up as a good option, however, I was hesitant as I wasn’t sure if it would be loud enough and have enough depth and base. Boy was I wrong! The beam and sub set up is absolutely insane and I wish the videos online did them justice but they simply don’t. I have never experienced sound like it whilst watching a film. In fact, I have had to turn the base right down otherwise I’m scared cracks may appear around the house! The quality of sound is absolutely phenomenal and I can’t find the words to explain how happy I am with my set up. I genuinely don’t know how I would benefit spending 5 times the amount on a different system.I’m an engineer and very particular (fussy) with certain things hence the reason it took me a while to commit to buying a decent sound bar & sub and wished I bought this sooner. You will NOT be disappointed buying this.Well done Sonos and well done Richer Sounds for such a good overview of the available options to me in store. When I add to my Sonos set up (which I will), I will now only buy them from Richer Sounds (even if they are more expensive) due to the quality of service I experienced. Bravo!

Just purchased the Sub Gen (3) to pair with the Era 300 would bought earlier in the week. Thought it would be a breeze to set up. It was not. Took a few tries to get it recognized and after two tries to connect wirelessly had to enter the serial no. manually. Worked and went to listen. It did not recognize Amazon Music Unlimited (which prior to adding the sub it did). Finally, removed the sub and reinstalled. Then it worked. Sub is behind a waist high partition between our kitchen and a breakfast bar area, but figured not a problem. Well, it was a problem. The sub played but frankly sounded anemic regardless of the source material. Was turning into a depressing evening. Then I checked the app, and the sub audio was well below 5 for the sub. Moved that up to 10 and suddenly went from a light breeze to a hurricane. This is not a cheap smart speaker system for the kitchen to be sure (especially when you add in the PowerQuest 6 Outlet/2 USB Unlimited Joules Surge Protector Model# PQ2). But I am very happy with that device and the sound of the SONOS system really is rewarding. Compared to the Bose Smart Speaker 500, the Echo Show 10 (3rd gen) and the Echo Show 15 with Amazon sub (not renowned for its audio capabilities) we could not be happier. Sound is superb in its weight class and the WAF is excellent. Final note: the microphone array for picking up Echo voice commands is almost surreal. With our other devices we sometimes have to exert a forceful blast to get the attention of the system, especially if the music is at a higher volume. With the SONOS, my wife really can basically almost whisper the command and the SONOS responds immediately. Kudos to SONOS for implementation and execution of an admittedly niche application. We are happy campers.

[Rewarded Review] Fantastic bass

I got this to pair with my Sonos Arc and it makes a world of difference. I think the Arc is mediocre on its own but with the Sub it becomes great.I got a Sonos Sub Mini at the same time and tested them both out. While the Mini was very good and more affordable, this is an even better speaker. The Mini seemed like it was trying too hard, and I could more easily pinpoint where the bass was coming from. This bigger sub provides a smoother, richer, more encompassing sound. Its bass is effortless and wraps around you. I think the Arc is mediocre on its own but with the Sub it becomes great.I got a Sonos Sub Mini at the same time and tested them both out. It does show dust easily with its glossy finish though.Overall, expensive but great sub that dramatically elevates the Arc.

[Rewarded Review] The Sonos Sub is Excellent
16 December 2023

Huge and articulate sound, especially for its size. I feel it is worth the money. I use with a Sonos Amp and an additional sub (a Gen 1 and this Gen 3). I am a metalhead and I've found the Sonos sub to be perfect for that. There is enough bass to feel the thump of the kick drum, but it's articulate enough that you can still hear both the bass guitar and kick during fast passages. It moves plenty of air to fill a big room with bass during a movie also, but I've found that it really shines with music. The above still applies to only having one sub, but the second sub really shines in my listening room because I don't have enough room treatments to avoid large bass cancellations in some of the listening positions. So with one sub, parts of the room had super full bass ... MoreHuge and articulate sound, especially for its size. I feel it is worth the money. So with one sub, parts of the room had super full bass and other parts didn't. Adding the second sub has now filled out the sound in the listening positions that were previously suffering. Current room I listen in is pretty large. It's an open floorplan, with the living room, kitchen, and dining room.I bought my first Sonos Sub in late 2015. At that point, I was using an SVS PB1000 (a 12" ported sub) and literally never missed it once it was gone. This is likely subjective because of my music tastes, so take with a grain of salt. I do watch a lot of movies and TV though, and still super happy with the Sonos Sub.If I was forced to say anything I dislike, it would be difficult. I would imagine a high end sub setup could still be significantly better than this, especially because bigger speakers can just literally move more air, but with my specific tastes and room, I'm very happy with these.

[Rewarded Review] Top tier audio performance
12 November 2024

I know I am writing this little late and I am the person who really not liking to give reviews and feedbacks. But for sure I feel like I share my thoughts on this I bought this last year. I am really enjoying the immersive experience sonos arc and subwoofer. The sound quality is phenomenal rich, clear, and immersive, making it perfect for music, movie nights or playing games. The setup was surprisingly straightforward, and also got app configured my phone I can control all the settings and sounds related stuff from my phone. which I personally like super super useful feature.Overall, if you’re looking for top-tier audio performance, Sonos is a fantastic choice, and Best Buy is the place to get it for their great service and warranty options. Highly recommend!"
