This Sony replaces a 14 year old 42" Sony 1080p that was still delivering a reasonable picture. But this 4k Bravia - Wow! The picture is so realistic that it's like watching some things in 3D or like live performances. Sharp picture with deep colors. I really like how Sony still pays attention to sound output. You can adjust the sound to how you are viewing the TV - from a couch or wall etc. You can pre-adjust each input's output of sound so you might want the TV louder for movies and quieter for cable with a +/- adjustment before adjusting the general volume. Also, there's the ability to enhance voice or music for those of us who want to hear the dialogue and not have to read it on closed caption all the time. Sony gave a 5 year warranty which gives me complete confidence of a manufacturers ability to provide a quality product.

The Sony KD-75X85K is to replace the TCL 6 series 55 I've had for the last 8 years. I wanted bigger. I got it. A 75 screen in an 11' x 15' living room is MASSIVE. It's also heavy. Make no mistake about it, this is 2-person install. Don't try it yourself, you will fail. Out of the box it's 75 pounds and completely unweildy going about it solo. It's a Google TV OS which I am not overly impressed with because I want to be able to control what I see when I turn on the TV, not some suggestion for something I would never watch that doesn't change for over a week. But I haven't found a way to change it yet without messing with 3rd party apps (don't love the idea of skinning an OS).The picture, once you get used to Sony's image processing, is good. But I haven't found a way to change it yet without messing with 3rd party apps (don't love the idea of skinning an OS).The picture, once you get used to Sony's image processing, is good. The screen seems to have an overall hazy look (like the topcoat is smoked plastic or something) and I have really come to learn what blossoming is because there is a lot of it here. Once you start fiddling with configurations and adjusting things to your liking (after you learn Sony's terms for everything) things begin to settle to your liking. For example, in Sony's world, the brightness controls the backlighting. The remote is clearly where Sony decided to shave costs. The dial which you use constantly is oddly placed and is small. Also, the settings button is immediately under the power button on the upper right -- so a bunch of times I have hit power meaning to go to settings. If you're playing a game, that can have severe repercussions. I have used worse remotes from Sony, but this is much more of a Google-produced piece of hardware (in my opinion). However, it is Bluetooth -- a saving grace! The TV has some strange, unexplainable quirks. Like the hideous static click everytime the screen changes. I've replaced HDMI cables, looked at everything Sony related I can about it to no avail.Overall, I highly recommed it if you want a big screen at an affordable price. While saying affordable may make some people squirm, the options are so far at the other end of the price spectrum they made me start reducing the size screen I wanted. Until I found this set and countless positive reviews about it.OLED vs LED/LCD? I thought about it, a lot. This TV won because 1. It's Sony. 2. Affordable OLED uses terms like QLED and Mini LED to differentiate themselves from the high-end OLEDs (probably to placate those with bottom-less wallets who don't want what just anybody can have). Since I swim with the regular folk I don't mind having a great TV that most of us can afford. Even if it takes me a year to pay for it.
This was purchased to replace a 65" Olevia Plasma TV that weighed 300 lbs and had ZERO problems in 15 years. It as just time for an upgrade and decided on this tv.Everything was great with the TV, with the exception of crackling lines that showed up a few times over the 6 weeks I kept this. I watched tv through the youtube tv app provided and the lines would still appear. It happened at least 3 times and would take a few minutes to disappear. You can see it just a little in the picture provided, but I was not about to keep this tv as I would expect the problem to persist and get worse over time.I decided to exchange and upgrade for the x90k on New Year's Day. Hopefully the same thing does not happen with this one as I do really enjoy the picture quality and ... My mom needed an upgrade from her 32" TV, but she has a small table where her TV is placed. Additionally, she sits in one spot to watch TV.The 50" X85K first came in view because the feet are the right distance apart to fit on her table. Mom watches sports, so the 120Hz panel also stood out to me over other TVs in the price range. The promise of Sony image quality added to the appeal of the X85K. I was able to get an open box excellent deal on the TV.I set up the TV for her this past weekend. I helped her get her YouTubeTV, Disney+, and Netflix all configured. After some tweaks, the picture looks great. SDR has lovely colors and smooth motion. For HDR, the TV automatically selected DolbyVision on Disney+. Even off angle viewing wasn't all that bad. Other plus: the new Sony remote is nice and simple. No more number pad makes it easy to use.Sound is what it is. Without a soundbar, it was okay, but I added a soundbar. Speaking of the soundbar, I connected it via eARC, but no sound came out. I did some research and found an article on Sony. After unplugging all the HDMI and power cables then reconnected them, HDMI first, sound did come out through the soundbar.Overall, I am very pleased since my mom is very pleased. She is so impressed and loves her new TV.
Great picture and sound quality. Worked for about 1 week and then i consistently received errors that it was not connected to the Wi-Fi. I soft reset and factory reset this about 10 times. Would work that day and revert back to rhe same issue. I moved it right next to the router and it still said i did not have a signal. I have 3 other smart TV's and none of them had these issues. (No they were not all being used at the same time so there was not a bandwith issue.) I called my internet providor and they came and checked and found no issues with my internet. They then advised it is a known issue with this brand that they will disconnect from the Wi-Fi and i would either have to run an ethernet cable to keep it connected or continue reseting at least once a week until ... Awesome television for the price! Sony has the best quality and ease of use. The remote control is simple and easy to use and memorize. Unlike other remotes that seem to have as many switches as a 747's control panel. The menu is simple to navigate. I bought this TV about 2 weeks ago for its smart tv functions. Total disappointment if you are planning not using a Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, or ETC. I get this message "Connected to Wifi, Not Connected to Internet". Yes I change my clock, updated my firmware using my Verizon cellphone network the Smart TV function worked perfectly, but when I tried to connect using a T-Mobile network got the same message, when I went back to my Wifi network got the same message again. I reset my modem, did multiple factory resets on the TV never got to connect to the Internet. Horrible and very disappointing. Went out and bought a Roku, Roku connected fine to my home WiFi.If I was rating the quality of the picture I would give it 5 stars, picture is beautiful. I have an old Sony ... I don't like the Samsung Hub I think its buggy most of the time I figure the X85K would be a perfect tv for it's smart tv function but what a huge let down and disappointment, if I new about this issue I would just got a Samsung never again Sony!
