I have past experience with the original a6000 as well as the a6400 and use the A7IV and A7R5 for professional use. The 6700 is a great body for the 6000 series cameras. The features, menus, controls, etc. all feel similar to the full size bodies which makes for a seamless experience for those using any of those newer gen cameras. I am a fan of the new body design and grip as I never cared much for the old grip designs on previous 6000 series bodies. The performance has been great so far and does not leave me feeling very limited compared to using something like my A7R5 despite smaller sensor and lower resolution. With that being said, this is not a replacement for an A7IV or A7R5 if you require a professional body, it was never meant to be that. I have seen and read a lot about the complaints of lacking a second card slot, joystick, large EVF, etc. Too many people want a pro body at the low a6700 price point which simply isn't realistic. The cameras with those features already exist in the Sony line and come at a cost associated with all those features. This is meant to be a compact and relatively affordable part of their lineup compared to those large full-featured pro bodies. On that premise, the a6700 delivers amazing value for the price and is not competing to be a pro body despite its ability to compete in many categories. As an A7 series user that wants a much lower cost and compact camera for everyday or travel use that functions much like its full-size counterparts, this is a great option.

The α6700 is welcome, albeit overdue, update to Sony's APS-C range. It upgrades many camera features across the board, including superb subject-based detection for auto focus and a much improved grip. It is not perfect though. I immediately noticed low-level electromagnetic noise when I turned on the camera, presumably from the IBIS system (my α6400 didn't have this). Not a problem for stills photography, but it can be detected on video when using the built-in mics. It was also disappointing to discover that the panorama feature which was present on previous models has been removed. I realise this is a more serious model, but that was fun and convenient mode which I hope can be added back in a future firmware update.

Moving up from the A6400, I'm blown away by the improvements in this camera, from the larger battery through the image quality, the new photo/video/S&Q button and the expansion of the video capability. Glad to at last have a front dial, but would like to see the rear dial being programmable for use in manual mode to control shutter speed in photo mode, or ISO in video mode.Like all Sony cameras I've used, the jpeg picture colours (and therefore the view from display/finder are disappointing, but that's probably due to having been spoiled by Fuji for so long. One frustrating issue I have with the A6700 is that my Samyang FE 24mm f/1.8 lens, which works perfectly on my A6000, A6400 and A7M4, is unusable in CAF mode on the A6700, it simply won't hold focus, but ... MoreMoving up from the A6400, I'm blown away by the improvements in this camera, from the larger battery through the image quality, the new photo/video/S&Q button and the expansion of the video capability. There's clearly something different about the A6700, compared to other Sony cameras that it doesn't like.

I had this for a few weeks now and I have no regrets. With all the features that it has at this price? Nothing can beat it. I don’t need to tell you the differences between aps-c and full frame because you already know. I was outside taking 4K60 and 4K120 videos of cars drifting, i never saw the overheat icon come up. Given that i recorded 4K60 for less than an hour and less than 2 mins of 4K120 every time, it doesn’t matter, that’s all you’re going to use it in the real world anyways. And i had 50% battery left when I was done. Whew! Glas i waited and upgraded from the a6100
I bought the a6700 to upgrade from the a6100. I love the Sony crop sensor format because it gives extra reach for wildlife and magnification for macro and there are great Sony & TP lenses for these uses. The latest autofocus AI is fantastic for mammals and birds. Insect recognition is not quite so excellent, but it's a great improvement on spot focusing. I tend to shoot insects in manual, so that's not an issue. The only downside right now is the camera is too new for DXO denoise to work. Can't comment on video performance.
I bought this camera just under 3 weeks ago and I have been enjoying its use. It definitely is a significant upgrade from the a6400. Bigger battery, bigger grip, bigger body (albeit still compact) and a new menu system! The AI features are what make this camera very worthwhile. I do a fair amount of wildlife and nature photography. The way the camera locks onto its subject is superb and pretty quick. The image quality has a slight improvement and the general handling of the camera is really good.I am a bit disappointed with some of the overheating issues when recording video, but considering this is a hybrid camera and I shoot more photos than videos, I am not going to complain too much.I do hope Sony continues to support this particular product with firmware ... MoreI bought this camera just under 3 weeks ago and I have been enjoying its use. If you're a shooter who splits your time evenly between photo and video, this is a fantastic buy. Sony always made nice sensors, but the FX30 sensor that appears in this camera is truly fantastic in its detail and dynamic range. The physical body will be very familiar to those who know the a6000 line of cameras, but it has been updated with nice features like a front dial, flip out screen, and switch to go between photo and video modes. It is chunkier, which is a bit of a shame, however the benefit is that the grip is much better, and it contains a much higher capacity battery. Video features, particularly high frame rate and Log, are really fantastic. I like the reworked menus, and the optional touch interface. Autofocus, which was always best in class, finds a way to be even better here. I do wish the camera had a joystick in the back, but there are ways to work around this. The viewfinder I believe is improved slightly compared to my a6400. Not class leading, but very usable. There will be some who decry the modern, somewhat Spartan aesthetic, but from a practical shooter's perspective, this camera packs a ton of pro features into a small body.
I have previously owned a NEX-6 and currently own an A6000, A6300 and now A6700. I've cursed the lack of touch screen and the far too easy to press rear control control wheel on the A6000 and A6300 and finally Sony have solved these issues by adding a fully functional touch screen and a control wheel which can be turned without accidentally pressing it. All of this plus adding a front control dial means that the A6700 is a pleasure to use.The A6700 is the guts of an A7RV with an APS-C sensor and therefore has top quality focussing which is both accurate and very fast. There are a lot of settings.
Upgraded from my 10 year old a6000 and couldn't be happier with the decision. a6700 with 18-135 zoom is light and compact but with great balance, build quality, layout, and larger battery capacity. Position and quality of the viewfinder is great - some professionals complain about it but for a compact camera I think it is ideal. Autofocus is blazing fast and image quality so far is great although I need to shoot more in different conditions. For a kit lens the zoom has great range, is crystal clear, and above all super light and compact - a great match for the camera. Manual zoom requires two hand operation but is faster and more responsive, so to me seems better, and best if all the range allows me to carry only one lens.
