Sony Alpha A7C Camera Body - Silver

The Sony A7C Silver is a light and compact full frame mirrorless camera for advanced and professional photographers and videographers who travel frequently. This light-sensitive 24.2-megapixel full frame image sensor ensures detailed images. Aside from that, you can also record sharp and stable videos in 4K 30 fps. Thanks to the integrated image stabilization, you can make stable hand-held videos. The rotatable touch screen lets you photograph from difficult angles or record yourself while you're vlogging. Autofocus The camera has a large full frame sensor with 693 phase detection autofocus points that cover 93% of the entire screen. This way, you can easily and accurate focus on any part of the image. Quickly capture moments of action with 10 images per second. Thanks to the 4D-Focus, you can focus on moving objects fast. The camera follows the object and predicts the next action. With the Realtime Eye autofocus, the camera automatically focuses on the eyes of both humans and animals. Ideal for portrait photographers, or if you want to take photos of your pets. 4K video With the A7C, you can record videos in 4K resolution. In this resolution, you record with 30 frames per second. Thanks to the full-pixel readout without pixel binning, you can use oversampling to reach a video quality that translates to a 6K image quality. This way, the A7C ensures sharp and clear videos. Image stabilization The A7C has integrated image stabilization that corrects up to 5 stops. This reduces motion blur. You can also take your photos hand-held for longer in twilight or dark locations. In addition, the stabilization ensures stable vlogs and fluid video recordings.

This is a great camera. I am involved in prohography since 1975 and I can testify that many-many cameras hava passed through my hands. I absolutely love this camera. With the particular lens, it is a very compact system covering most needs of a photographer that wishes to be traveling light. I have customised the function buttons to my own preferences and I am enjoying the different control options it offers. One of the biggest advantages for me is the tilting and fully rotating screen, as I have been used to a similar setup with a Canon G11. If you have not used the fully free-rotating screen, you do not know what you are missing. But I will also note that the viewfinder is super useful and I use it almost 80% of the time. I am still playing around with the focusing options, I am not sure I am a fan of the multi point focusing which selects random objects but intend to check it out more carefully. For now, until I have a final verdict on the multi-point foucuing, the centre point focus is fine for me. Another issue I need to look further before a final verdict is the bracketing, which I use a lot but seems to only allow 1/3 of a stop either side. I would be more happy with +/-1 stop or even more. In fact I would love to be able to set this as I please and I am not sure it can be done. I need to investigate more. The build quality is very high and reminds me of my old and trusty prof-grade cameras. Last, I have to mention that the full frame sensor with the 24Mpix res allowe me to improve framing withoug compromising the image quality. Small comments aside, overall, I am very happy with the camera/lens combination and I can unreservedly recommend it.

The lens maybe feels a tad cheap but is edge to edge sharp with virtually no distortion.Obviously I will be buying some more glass, mainly primes and can’t wait to see how far I can push the resolution.I attach an image of a frosty bird feeder as an example of this lens and camera. My intention was to work with more videos, and the Sony a7c sounded better for my low light needs (lots of fire dancing content), but the funny thing is that I ended up using it more for photography. The results were amazing. Fire photography is a challenge on its own, but this camera with a sigma 30mm 1.4 just took me to a new place for creativity and skills.I feel ready to upgrade to more mb and faster gear, but this Sony a7c is without a shadow of a doubt a beast if you can truly use it to its full capacity and make the best out of all its features.I wish there was more space for buttons and the view finder is not good at all. I got an attachment on amazon which fix the problem. Only one SD slot. I really dislike the app for transfer photos, it sucks.Battery life is extraordinary, I never got an extra and have been photographing and shooting lots of videos with one battery. The weight and size can't be beaten. It's a little funny when you have a bigger lens, but with my prime it's been amazing. Doesn't look like a big deal till you look at the photos.Amazing little camera. Can do a lot if you take your time to be one with it.

Best small sized Full Frame Sony camera!
9 August 2022

If you are looking for a lightweight Sony full-frame mirrorless camera that can be your travel camera for photo and video, as well as something you can use for vlogging or streaming, this is a great option. Better focusing that the Sony A7III, about $900 less than the new Sony A7IV (though this has some more features that may make this worth it for you), as well as no recording limit for video. I found the battery is about 10% better than the A7III and works good on a gimbal with the right lens (I have used the Sony 20mm F1.8 G and the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8). Fully articulating screen works great if that is something you need. It does have a smaller viewfinder and sometimes on a bright sunny day with sunglasses on you can't see the screen. I have a Sony A9 and will grab this one only for shooting wildlife, otherwise I grab the Sony A7C.

Excellent features, great photos, compact body

Great camera for capturing photos and videos when your smart phone won't give you the image quality you want or need. It's compact size is no problem for my large hands even after carrying it for hours. I actually found the compact size to be a plus for my travel needs. The included lens does a great job. One caution with this camera and any non-point and shoot camera: It won't make you a professional photographer with professional results. You still need to understand basics of shooting and camera operation, and it also doesn't hurt to have a good eye for framing your subject and capturing the moment. But with the knowledge of how this camera operates and what lens is best suited for what you want out of your photos, you can get incredible results.

I adore this camera. It's a bit pricey but really

I'm a graphic designer and art director. I decided to get into videography and this is my first camera. I heard that Sony UI and usability is quite frustrating, so I was a bit worried. I can honestly say that after a few customizations this camera is absolutely wonderful and I have zero frustrations. I bought two Sony lenses that are both glorious, especially the first: Sony 85mm 1.8 and the 24mm 1.4. Both of these are essential kit/primes as far as I'm concerned. The 85 is drop dead gorgeous. Anyway, I'm super happy with this purchase and can only recommend this as a prosumer entry into video. The color is limited to 8 bit and if you CAN wait, I read that the mk2 is coming out this year with 10bit color. I love the size

I stored my Canon 6D and R5 in the cupboard for this Sony so rating it a 3* shouldn't be signaling an inadequacy. I bought it because I wanted a (1) small (2) full frame with (3) good performance and, so far, it seems as if that's what I got.I don't have a problem with certain features that some have complained about, such as the small viewfinder (I do like its situation on the far left) and the menu (which I find easier to navigate than the Canon). The grip, likewise, isn't a problem - although I haven't used the camera yet with a bigger and heavier lens. The photos I've taken are sharp and detailed (I process in the current DxO and in Photoshop CS5 and I am a pixel peeper (which means it must be good or I'd be complaining).I love the size: it's small, light, ... MoreI stored my Canon 6D and R5 in the cupboard for this Sony so rating it a 3* shouldn't be signaling an inadequacy. The kit lens is good and small, but I would prefer an equally good kit lens with similar size but with a wider range - I'm sure by now Sony engineers have conquered the laws of physics in order to get me my jacket pocketable a7c with 18-135 or 24-105 good performance E lens. THEN we'll consider a 4*.

Looking for the ideal compact full-frame camera
12 July 2023

I had high hopes about using this as an always with me compact camera, but with a full-frame sensor. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out.First and foremost, this camera isn't really all that compact. I own a A7RII and when you put these two cameras side by side, the only material difference between the two is that the A7C doesn't have a viewfinder. That's it. The grip is just slightly smaller and not enough to notice an difference. The height is the same (save the viewfinder) and depth and width are the same.So it begs the question, why not use the same sensor that's in the A7RII or III in it? Did they do that so it wouldn't infringe on the RX1R, even though thats a fixed-lens camera? Its unfortunate because it basically leaves Leica as the only real maker ... MoreI had high hopes about using this as an always with me compact camera, but with a full-frame sensor. Its unfortunate because it basically leaves Leica as the only real maker of compact full frame cameras. If it had the 47 or 60 mp sensor in it, I absolutely would have kept it. Thats even despite the fact that the number of reasonably fast compact Sony lenses for it is exactly 3. I might have reconsidered if there was a f1.4 or f1.7 24mm, f28mm, or 35mm lens...Hoping there actually is a A7C II and they use at least the 47mp from the AR7III.

This is the best full frame camera for traveling
31 December 2022

The Sony a7C is the smallest full-frame interchangeable lens camera available today. Its body is closely resembling the APS-C sensor a6600, but it is a 24MP full-frame sensor, and has image stabilization in it. I would say this camera is the miniature version of a7 III with better autofocus, capable to shoot in low-light and shallow depth-of-field, and has all the familiar features of a7III. When comes to video its video function is far better than its big brother of A7III. This is the best full frame camera for traveling that Sony ever made. I bought it for that purpose. When paired it with Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens, it creates a desirable vlogging package that can produce 4k image quality, and also to take superb still photography where other Sony big brother of ... MoreThe Sony a7C is the smallest full-frame interchangeable lens camera available today. Won't work with other devices

I really wanted to love this camera, but the lack of one single feature ruined this camera for me. Yes, I will drop my rating to a single star because of the lack of one single feature... but I feel that I am justified: There is no shutter release port on this camera, and although that may sound trivial, consider the consequences -- this camera's shutter cannot be controlled by any other devices that use a wired shutter control including sliders, jibs, pan heads, pluto trigger, arsenal, edelkrone, and my main beef: star trackers! Yes, I know it is a small niche genre, but a lightweight full frame camera is ideal for astrophotographers, and all the specs of this camera are great! Yes, I know it is a small niche genre, but a lightweight full frame camera is ideal for astrophotographers, and all the specs of this camera are great! I have taken several amazing photographs of the night sky with this camera... BUT, and buyer-be-ware, the lack of and automated shutter control from a device like a star tracker may mean that I had to stay up all night in the freezing cold while baby sitting this camera for each and ever single image I took. The interval shoot feature is kind of a work around, but 30 seconds is the maximum exposure you will be able to take, and the camera will not be in sync with the star tracker. So, you will have higher ISO, lower dynamic range, and you should learn to embrace the frostbite while you are using a bluetooth remote (the only way to control the shutter for long exposures) for those 3 and 4 minute exposures. That doesn't sound too bad, right? Wrong! Let's say you want to do multi row panoramas of the night sky... or do a timelapse with camera movement (like with an edelkrone headone, or slider unit, or move shoot move unit, etc.). There is no conceivable way to automate these with another device and have it be in sync, so you will have to start the exposure, set a timer, wait for the timer, remember to end the exposure when the timer goes off, recompose your shot, and do it all over again... and again... and again... while every other camera on the market has the ability to have all of this fully automated by the accessory device (star trackers and many many other accessory devices). Also the USB-C port does not have the capability of pairing with a 2.5mm (SNAP) port as it is a communication port, not a normally open shutter circuit controlled by an on/off switch. You would think that Sony would have designated 2 of the USB terminals for shutter control (like they did with other alpha 7 cameras), but you would be dead wrong. In their infinite wisdom they decided that and HDMI and microphone port were essential, and that a shutter port was entirely unnecessary. As of writing this, nobody makes an adapter for a wired shutter controll like a 2.5mm SNAP port to a bluetooth controller... even 2 years after this camera's release. If you want to control this camera with any other device, then you will be sorely disappointed. If you don't mind the babysitting, frostbitten fingers, and all the limitations that come with not being able to use accessory devices with shutter control, then you will love it!
