This is my first full-frame camera, and the first with OSS, and I can already see the huge difference they make in the raw exposures. But I'm going to be wasting countless hours in photoshop and lightroom just to achieve results that the older camera could produce in the field.The newer connectivity options are also a letdown. The Imaging Edge software is an absolute disaster. While it is possible to use the A7C as a webcam over USB, expect to spend the first several minutes of every zoom call fumbling around with the camera and restarting your computer, before eventually breaking down and shelling out for an HDMI capture device instead. Smartphone connectivity is kludgy at best, requiring tedious menu reconfigurations on both the camera and the phone to initiate the connection each and every time you want to change between direct Wifi (field), access-point Wifi (home), or USB (PC) environments. Bluetooth is usable only for basic grip functionality, not for data or audio. NFC appears to function only as a direct-WiFi initiation scheme, not its own file transfer mechanism.I can't believe what a huge step backwards Sony has taken with respect to software and upgradability on these cameras. I wish I had known this before making my decision.

I really love the fact it's a compact full frame camera and I love the MLIC approach which makes it so much easier to use compared to DSLR. I enjoy using it wirelessly with my iPhone. And the FTP support is a great feature which I do use it to upload my images.The image quality is far the best I've come across, coming from Canon/Nikon camps. Fantastic performance in a 500g body. I'm a hobbiest that is semi serious. If I was a pro wedding shooter I would look at other models for grip and dual card slot..but this is a great little camera that you can put a tiny prime on or the bigger primes still feel pretty good. People gripe about the grip and viewfinder but I find them adequate. My biggest lens is the 135 GM and it works. I think much bigger of a lens better to get a bigger grip. I shot Leica rangefinders for years so I'm a fan of the rangefinder placement of the viewfinder. If you're coming from a higher quality viewfinder it may be a let down for some but I don't have much to compare it to but my Leicas optical and Olympus EM5.3. It seems good to me. I've mentioned this on the forums and some people seem to disagree and say they don't have that problem so not sure if it's just mine but I bump it all the time. I'm hoping a R version comes out.

This is a great camera. I love the vintage looks of this camera. I bought it for street photography to use with my Zeiss 35mm f2.8 and Zeiss 55mm f1.8 lenses. Very neat, compact kit. Yes, I wish it had two SD card slots, a better EVF, more buttons, and a higher resolution sensor. But then it would be a different camera altogether. Truthfully, I agonized over this purchase. I bought one from B&H and returned it. Then I bought it again, and I'm keeping it. (thanks B&H.) I can live with the so-called short comings to get the positives: (1) classic looks, (2) full-frame sensor, (3) compact form factor. I understand an A7C MK 2 is coming later this year with more bells and whistles, but I decided to get this model because it's already a great camera that meets my needs.

BUT MUST ADMIT THAT FIND THAT I REALLY DO NOT NEED FULL FRAME LARGER FILES. ONLY DIFFERENCE I FIND COMPARED TO SONY A6000 IS BETTER DYNAMIC RANGE. THE 5 AXIS IBIS IS ALSO MOST WELCOMED TOO. A SLIGHT LEARNING CURVE COMING FROM APSC AND MICRO4/3 SONSORS. AMOST ANY LENS EVER MADE WILL WORK WELL WITH APPROPRIATE ADAPTOR (MANUAL FOCUS/APERTURE ONLY) SONY HAS GOOD FOCUS PEAKING FOR OLD LENSES MOUNTED WITH ADAPTOR. AM HAPPY I HAVE THIS CAMERA, EVEN IF REALLY DID NOT NEED IT. HERE IS A SHOT, NO POST PROCESSING, IN JPEG EXTRA FINE SETTING. PENTAX VINTAGE LENS USED.

Many users would be as well off buying an a7iii instead of the a7c. A7c grip isn't big enough, it isn't packed with new features, but it is quite nice for an a7iii in a smaller body. I sold mine, I found a larger camera with more pixels was more my cup of tea for my photography . As someone who uses it primarily on hiking and walking around, pairing this camera with Samyang's tony series of lenses has renewed the joy of bring my camera along everywhere I go.As time went on with my APSC setup, I acquired better lenses to improve the low light performance, thus making my setup heavier and bigger and negating the one aspect that I absolutely fell in love with: the size.With the a7c, its low light performance is so good, that I can combine the smaller, slightly slower lenses with its high iso performance to get the results I want, in the form-factor that's convenient for me.If you're debating whether or not the upgrade from sony apsc is worth it, just buy it without hesitation. It's an incredibly versatile, one-of-a-kind camera that has almost no weaknesses.Bonus points if you find one in B&H's used section; that's where I got a good enough deal on mine that allowed me to sell my a6400 and recoup a huge chunk of the cost of my a7c. The condition was basically brand new.Couldn't be happier.
The weight and size is likely the reason you want this camera. And there are plenty on small lenses it can pair with. It all makes APS-C cameras quite unnecessary.Of course, to keep the weight and price down, corners were cut. Camera doesn't have all typical dials and buttons, and the grip is very shallow. The EVF is very small. Typical for Sony the LCD is terrible. And, of course, the colors you get by default are nowhere as good as I get from my Nikon, you need to be willing to shoot raw and do quite a bit of surgery in Lightroom or other editor.
