I'm really enjoying the experience as I learn more about photography. The full-frame sensor delivers amazing image quality, with great detail and vibrant colors, even in lower light. The 5-axis image stabilization helps keep shots steady, which is great for someone still getting the hang of things. The 55mm f/1.8 lens is sharp and provides that smooth background blur l've been wanting for portraits. The 64GB card and battery are perfect for long shooting sessions. Overall, this setup is helping me take my photography to the next level while still being user-friendly.

The Sony A7 II was my first real camera. I took this camera all over the world and captured some amazing photos with it. The image quality, at the price point of this camera is unmatched. You can shoot high quality JPGs or .RAW. The video quality is 1080p at 60 fps, it will just suck your batter life if you video longer then 3 minutes. It also has slog-2. My only issue and one I never really noticed was lagging auto focus at times (lens could have played a part with that too). Highly recommend this camera for image quality and easy of uses for starters.

Amazing camera! I have used some many different cameras over the years, from canon to Fuji, from Minolta to olympus you name it, but nothing comes closer to the image quality of this Sony full frame. The pictures are so sharp, it is hard to take a bad photo. Lowe light performance is one of the best out there, it is not the most portable one, but for the quality, it is still pretty port. Not too concerned about the battery as I do carry a backup with me wherever I go. Love this camera!

Having used all manner of cameras from the humble Practica to digital Nikon; Lumix and many others I find the Alpha 7 ii has a sturdy, reliable feel and the menus system is one of the best I have used as many others are too complicated for fast photography. Its kit lens 28-70 3.5- 5.6 is one of the most surprising lenses for quality that I have seen top marks . There is just one niggle!! the noisy shutter as it goes off with quite a whack no doubt fixed in later versions. Overall a great buy and a great camera even taking in its thirst for power from its small battery. I understand this is not a problem in later models
I bought my camera on an amazon prime day deal for below £800 for the camera and kit lens. For a 10yo camera it is still very capable despite lacking some of the modern niceties such as a fully articulated rear display etc. It’s video capabilities are also somewhat dated with no ability to shoot in 4k, however, for someone like me, who wants this pretty much for photos only it’s 24.3Mp full frame sensor is more than capable. I would argue its practically unbeatable at this price. It doesn’t have some of the frills of the latest cameras but for someone who’s new to photography and wants a camera mostly for photos. I would say it’s very user friendly, compact in size and the accessories you need to use it effectively such as spare batteries & SD cards are pretty cheap ... MoreI bought my camera on an amazon prime day deal for below £800 for the camera and kit lens. I am really happy with my purchase.
I only bought this camera less than 2 weeks ago but happy with it so far. My first DSLR was a Sony A200 then an A58 but an issue with its sensor made me go for a new camera and with very few A mount ones for sale now I went for the A7 11 with the E mount. There are lots to this camera, a lot of which I will probably never use, but so far it seems very good. The old A200 had a wireless facility for the flash which was brilliant but unfortunately the A58 and the A7 11 lack this facility, that to me was a big plus. The first thing to notice was how much heavier the camera, and lens’s are, than the previous two. Having said that, the camera feels right, possibly because for many years I was used to standard SLR’s. The movie recording looks to be fine, better than the ... MoreI only bought this camera less than 2 weeks ago but happy with it so far. The first thing to notice was how much heavier the camera, and lens’s are, than the previous two. Having said that, the camera feels right, possibly because for many years I was used to standard SLR’s. The movie recording looks to be fine, better than the A58, but I had to alter the white balance for some reason although more practice is required for this.Likes - I prefer to use Manual rather than any of the other options for most of my photographs so particularly like the 2 separate thumb wheels for the shutter speed and aperture. The menu and function buttons are basically the same for the A58 so easy to get around. Thankfully my old flash works fine as I had to get an adapter for it when I bought the A58 so it uses the same adapter. Also it uses the same hand remote which is a plus for long exposure shots. The A7 11 has taken the best night time photo of the 3 cameras I have so cannot wait to get to Blackpool again for the lights. A good image with less noise when higher ISO settings are used.Dislikes – A lot more expensive than A mount cameras, and lenses are too. The manual focus system seems to be a retrograde step by having to move a lever then pressing and holding a button in the centre of the lever with one hand while focussing with the other, and having to keep the button pressed while I take the photo. Not happy that the A mount lenses are not autofocus using a Sony adapter which led me to have to buy a 55-250 zoom. As mentioned earlier there is no wireless connection without buying more equipment. There is a wireless facility in the function but it will not recognise the flash channel for it. A big issue was no battery charger with the camera, and, battery life quite poor compared to the other two. Please Sony, bring out a heavy duty one. Not keen on the “level” symbols in the view finder and have not worked out how to disable them yet. The electronic viewfinder is good in most situations but not at night time when doing space photography as it is very difficult to see a star and then focus on it, ideally it would be good if the rear screen could be set as a normal one for times like this. Although the flash works it does not seem to be TTL as it did on the old A200 so have to take the same photo on different settings to get the correct exposure.Although there are a few negative comments here I am still very happy with the camera so far and hope to have some better weather to test it in different conditions outside.
This was a replacement for an earlier Sony Alpha camera. It has improved specs and a wide range of quality lenses. The latest price made the purchase decision obvious. On the design, it has a small development from earlier models. More of the fittings and buttons are now plastic rather than metal giving a concern that these won't last. Sony spare parts have only been available for a restricted time.Sony have reduced the battery size to give a lighter camera. This means that the battery doesn't last long. The previous Sony Alphas lasted several days of use, and kept its charge for several weeks. This model lasts no more than three hours - probably less if you use the video function. The biggest downside is that the instruction manual doesn't explain the purpose of the various functions. It merely gives mechanistic steps to apply a function but you don't know what will happen if you follow them. The camera probably can deliver much more than you know about which is a great pity and wasted opportunity.
Can you believe a 2014 camera still available? Yes the first with IBIS also! But least known is the on camera apps that started many things, Sony PlayMemories camera appsThat help sell the early sony cameras, the one main app is Digital Filter that lets you adjust any camera settings in 3 parts of an image, Sky, ground and a third you pick like the added area along the horizon. And gives an output as a RAW or jpeg to and SD card, Yes you edit on the camera somewhat till you get what you want. I think the filter makers got Sony to remove camera apps because it was so good, So the apps are on Mods I and 2 cameras still available to put on this camera. Superb sunsets with no hand held filters when out and about. Even with the added Sharpness of the A7Rii with this ... MoreCan you believe a 2014 camera still available? Yes the first with IBIS also! Even with the added Sharpness of the A7Rii with this app at the Grand Canyon is beyond believe, with no blueing in the lower Canyon like with the post cards. Also once you buy an app it can be put on your other mod 1 and 2's not needed tp pay additional. With the first of the IBIS and telephoto lens added OSS you can throw away your sticks and just walkabout. Mod 1 and 2's will have a high value for life if just for the apps you can add and there are many to choose from.
I bought one of these secondhand in 2023. Having recently got back into photography when given a canon 10D by a friend and fast realising I needed (..okay wanted) more. Knowing the direction the technology was heading in it was a call between a newer DSLR or an older mirrorless body. Ultimately I got a full frame mirrorless camera in the form of a nearly ten year old A7ii. Regrets? None. Yes it's lacking some features due to its age but to an amateur, coming from a DSLR a further ten years older, it's spot on. Relatively inexpensive, Sony has had its mirrorless technology out for a while now so the lenses also aren't all that over the top (not all of them, anyways). With this I've already built up a small collection of decent lenses and the camera itself has been ... MoreI bought one of these secondhand in 2023. With this I've already built up a small collection of decent lenses and the camera itself has been enough to encourage me to save a bit and consider part exing it for an A7riii. However if I could avoid parting with it, it would be a very strong secondary camera.
I always think a review should tell readers of the review a little insight of the reviewer. So with over 58 years of photography and hundreds of cameras feel I know my way around a camera. So I buy a camera which will give me the control I need things like depth of field ease of use a product that has been in manufacture for many years albeit updated models of the same design. So lets see why I choose this particular model. I use all my control camera functions and like the freedom of being able to use a lens suitable to my needs, This camera allows me to use a lens designed for a smaller sensor so crops accordingly and for the photos I have taken picture quality is good . Personally I don't like a touch monitor and prefer to use the menu and navigate around one really nice thing is the position of the menu button it's on it's own and makes for a quick operation. All the drop down menus are good and once you learn how to navigate them it's good, The card slot being on it's own is also easy to get to. Most of my photography is taken flowers and with the manual settings a good depth of field can be acquired. Most people will know what this camera can achieve but actually reading professional photographers reviews and seeing what they have taken sells the camera. The battery charging was not design very good to charge the battery it's done by plugging the camera in, a stand alone charger would have earned this review 5 stars.
