We purchased this item a few months ago and are fairly pleased with it. The pictures are fairly decent and the 'auto' mode is the one we use the most (to be honest the other modes don't seem to be that much use - we haven't been able to get particularly great results with them). The most disappointing thing has been the fact that the micro-usb port cover broke within days, and not due to any particular mis-use - just normal usage! So all in all a rather under-whelming experience. for the price I would have expected a bit more from Sony...

The quality of the camera is amazing. It came with wires and the manual so I can use all of its functions. It came with no damage as it was packaged with a lot of bubble wrap.

I love this camera. I have already owned two of them. (Actually, I still own two others, but they have gotten significant amounts of dust inside the camera body and onto the sensor, so photos of skies or white walls, etc. end up having large dark spots on them that must be photoshopped out.) I have searched and searched for an equivalent point and shoot digital camera, and own a couple others, but none has ever been like this one. All the cameras made now have significant noise reduction software built in that blurs out edge detail. Until someone decides to make a mid-range priced camera without NR or with at least the manual ability to turn it off, I'll keep coming back to this Sony dsc p200. It also lacks other frivolous extras like smile detection and face recognition. It's fast and only needs care taken in how you store it, because dust can be a big problem for this little guy. I hope someday to find a replacement model that is currently sold, because I'm afraid I can only buy used replacements for a couple more years before they are all gone too.

I bought this camera for it's zoom feature, hoping it would take better photos than my iPhone. Sadly this is not the case. The zoom distorts the images. The images were lacklustre. This is not a good camera for taking landscape or distance photos. It does a fair job with macro shots. Overall, not impressed at all and will probably return for a refund. Also, the batteries drain fast on this camera and it's a very slow charge.
Excellent item, but with all the features in such a small camera, it can be a little difficult at first. to navigate all the settings required to adjust it to the owners personal requirements. The wifi set up can also prove to be a slight problem to those unfamiliar with such technicalities. The software installation was somewhat irritating, as it kept saying that an update was required, which took several minutes to do, before it was able to be used. Eventually it was uninstalled and another program used.
I have owned this same camera for many years and the On/Off switch is giving me problems. I like this particular camera because it has a viewfinder which many simple cameras no longer seem to feature, and also it's size. When taking photos outside, on a sunny day, I need the viewfinder. I am older and do have some vision issues but even before vision became a problem, I still liked being able to focus with a viewfinder. Also, the sleek, small design makes it easy to carry along.
I bought this 12 days ago at gatwick airport, and used it constantly on a week's holiday in Lanzarote. Handy little size, easy to use and takes good pictures. Very happy with it.Installed the software, SonyMemoriesHome, on my Windows 7 laptop, twice, but every time you try to use the software, it says it needs 10 minutes to update, and even if I leave it on overnight, it never does the update. At home, I installed the software on my XP desktop, but when I tried to run it, I learned that you need Vista, 7 or 8 to make it operate. So I've got a nice camera, but no software!
This is the fifth one of these cameras I have owned. I paid over $400 for one as a faculty adviser of the yearbook at a school. It took better pictures than most of the other cameras we owned. It became the go to camera for quick pictures at events. Other than sporting events, it was our best camera. When I left that position I bought one for myself. I loved that camera and it last me for over 10,000 pictures of all kinds. It just did not last to all the drops that came from its use by my children. I bought them one after this one died due to their abuse. The third one still takes great pictures. I bought two of these cameras recently from Ebay. One to keep in my truck for quicky snapshots and one for my wife to keep in her car for the same. So, we now have three ... MoreThis is the fifth one of these cameras I have owned. I bought two of these cameras recently from Ebay. One to keep in my truck for quicky snapshots and one for my wife to keep in her car for the same. So, we now have three Cyber-Shots that we love. I hope when one of these gets too abused to stand up to my children that I can find another. I own a Nikon D7100 that I love and take great pictures with, but I don't carry it in my truck, so it doesn't take near the quantity of pictures the Cyber-Shot does.
I purchased my camera in 2005 when it was state of the art. I baby this camera, and it hasn't let me down. I still use the original Styrofoam sleeve, as extra protection from dust, to store the camera inside my camera case. One reviewer stated that the access door is cheap plastic; I agree with this assessment. The charger-door hinge is rather flimsy, so I'm always very careful with it so that it doesn't break. I did drop my camera at some point, and the impact dinged the charger-door so that it doesn't completely close. It's the only damage, so I can't complain too much. Due to the plastic of the access door, I give this camera four stars. In all other respects, it's a five-star camera.
item is not as described, big damage was on. I was about to use for repairing but not worked but well else was fine.
