Looking for a backup for my Sony wx350 which I found in this great example. Apart from a few very minor scratches the camera was in great condition and represented excellent value for money. All that was needed was a memory card and it was ready to go. Charger & battery were compatible and it even came with a new & unused manufacturer's case. This camera is both easy to use and full of technology which also being a compact, makes it highly pocketable . Although the wx350 has a slightly improved picture quality the innovation level is better on this earlier model and therefore a good second hand example represents extremely good value.

It's tough for me to find a camera I'm happy with. Sony wasn't even on my RADAR until I got a look at the specs on this camera. The 20x zoom combined with the 18MPx sensor is a great combination. I had bought one of those "41MPx" camera phones thinking that the megapixels would be enough to satisfy me so that I didn't need to get something with a zoom. While it satisfied quite a few different needs/wants in a camera, it just wasn't like having a 20x zoom. Now that I've got both, I don't bother taking that phone with me.FEATURES:I bought the camera, thinking I wouldn't use the WiFi features. I was mistaken. Holy cow is it convenient. I bought the "spare battery charger" and a spare battery, and I'm pretty sure that I could get through an entire weekend without the need to charge or plug the camera into anything.I had seen a couple unfavorable comments on the little cover for the USB/Power connector. I don't see much issue with it unless you're using that port a lot. With the ability to eject the memory card, swap batteries, and use WiFi to transfer photos, I only needed to use that port the first time I charged the battery. If you are in the market for a good zoom camera, be sure to give this one good consideration. I chose it over the big C, N, S, and M name brands..

This is a great camera for my use (for work, home and vacation travel.) It is small enough that you can put it in your pocket (or around your neck,) which results in more photos. This has been the best camera I have ever had, including a Panasonic Lumix and a Nikon SLR (primarily because it gives you great pictures with such ease.)It takes great photos in low light (nice pictures of a concert in summer 2013.) Easy and fast transfer of photos to iPhone, but wireless internet connection is required. Remote control by iPhone is a nice, easy to use feature (especially to include yourself in the photo,) but it also requires an internet connection. Sony software is surprisingly easy to use. It might be good to get a screen protector for the display to be absolutely safe. I plan to purchase a spare battery and charger through Amazon. As others have pointed out, the charging interface has a cover that seems a bit weak, but if you get a charger, then you would not need to use this.I also tried out the HDMI to view on our television (although the cable is a bit pricey,) with great results. Photos at high magnification look as great as at lower magnification (which was not always the case with my Panasonic DMC-TZ3,) and videos are easy. Battery life has been very good, even with a few short videos. I have had The WX300 for about a month, including a trip across much of British Columbia, and I have a great collection of up-close as well as distance shots. I also have had good success with a few flash shots (which is very easy to turn off and then back on.) Sony software on my Windows 7 PC and iPhone works very well. I purchased with battery and 32GB memory card. I have never came close to running low on memory, even with several short videos. It is easy to xfer the photos to my PC, and then start over again. Love the camera.

Fast shipping, good price for all things included, and very transparent sale overall!! Camera takes some excellent pictures for the price, has a very good battery life, is easy to use, and is compact for travel. Also, the picture zoom quality is insane; I have literally never seen anything like it.
Overall this is a great camera and takes great pictures. I love that it has the WiFi option so I can send pictures to and from my phone, camera and computer.I do not like that when you take a picture vertically, you can't turn the camera so it fits the screen. In order to see the picture a little better you have to zoom in on the picture. This is quite annoying especially when my previous Sony camera which was 3 years older had that feature and so does my cell phone.I like the location of this flash better than my old Sony because it doesn't pop up where you might put your finger. But my husband does't like where the flash is located on this camera and he for some reason keeps getting his finger in the way. I haven't used this camera enough to find the flash location a problem. But I don't like that there isn't any sort of finger grip on the front of the camera to make it more comfortable and stable when you are holding the camera with only one hand.My main concern in deciding if I would repurchase this camera would definitely have to be the image not rotating. If this feature is not important to you, then I would recommend this camera!
We bought this camera as a small point and shoot camera to act as a substitute for our DSLR camera the day before we went on a city break with a budget airline and wanted to save space in our hand luggage. After a bit of reasearch we selected this model as the one that appeared to suit our needs the best. The most immediately striking thing about this camera is its size - its very small and compact yet feels strong and robust with good build quality. Picture quality is excellent and the amount of optical zoom squeezed in to such a tiny camera is amazing and even at full zoom the picture quality compares unbelievably well with our DSLR. The video is in HD and both picture quality and sound are also excellent. Over the course of our holiday it was relatively easy to get to grips with the camera and we were amazed at the picture & video quality - and even more so when we revied them back on our PC monitor on our return home. We were also impressed with the wide range of functions and built in image effects - although no matter how many variations I tired my "smile" would not trigger the auto-smile detect function - much to my wife's amusement! One thing we didn't really have an opportunity to find out was how this camera handles fast moving subjects. There doesn't appear to be a dedicated "sports" option in any of the menus, although there are other options which you would assume require the same paramters and may therefore be equivalent. I use our DSLR for taking a lot of motor sport pictures so only time will tell how well the Sony compares in this area.As far as we were concerned the only down sides of this camera are firstly, and not suprsingly given its size: some of the buttons and controls are quite small so for those with large (or in our case cold!) hands / fingers they can be a bit fiddly. Secondly this camera almost has too much functionality within the various menus and sub-menus (can this be a bad thing?) which can be tricky to locate. But, with a bit of experimenting and regular use, we soon learnt where our most favoured options were.Overall we couldn't have been more pleased with this camera and have adopted it as our go to camera ahead of our DSLR for taking with us when we're out and about, and would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a small, compact camera that takes great pictures and videos.

I felt that the Canon and Sony were most closely matched and the Sony did zoom more clearly and with less blur than the Canon. While the Sony wx300 is not my favorite point-and-shoot I've owned (others for similar price ranges have had better quality), my new camera does a decent job and is one of the highest-quality options Best Buy offers.By great (but not awesome) photo quality, I mean it does better than phone cameras and cheap point-and-shoots, but may not be the highest quality point-and-shoot in its price range (or in past years), and it of course does not compare to a DSLR. I have not noticed any problems with the battery, though getting the second one was a must for me, and if I'm doing a lot of shooting, especially when I'm travelling, having the second charged and ready helps me keep going. My biggest problems with the camera are in indoor lighting, where the flash whites everything out and distorts color, but no flash blurs the quality of the image. The camera does a better job with well-lit areas and outdoor scenes. As a cat owner, I sometimes feel like the shutter lags longer than other cameras I've owned and I miss shots. But faster than some, for sure. A fairly good camera overall, but I feel myself missing my older models in their prime.Technical details - comes with the following scene options: Soft skin, soft snap (soft background), anti-motion blur, landscape, backlight correction HDR, night portrait, night scene, hand-held twilight, High sensitivity, Gourmet (food), pet, beach, snow, fireworks

At first I just put in a class-4 card and the camera is slow when I have the resolution set to the highest. I thought the camera is a bust. Then I realized that I was using a class-4, so I quickly get a class-10 card and everything is happily ever after. So, don't forget your class-10 SD card. You need it.Overall, a very nice camera. A little more expensive than its counterpart of Panasonic FZ-xx and Canon 260/280 IS, but I think Sony WX300 is still the best, and also the smallest and lightest.
I have tried SONY HX20V (and its predecessor HX9V), and this camera is an improvement over HX20V in that the i) Camera body is compacter ii) Flash doesn't pop up iii) Battery life is improved iv) Charging position doesn't require camera to lie on the lens or LCD but some old problems still persist and new ones have been added i) Video's (AVCHD) have lines in the last frame when played on Windows Media Player on Windows 7 (there is no clean ending of the movie). This bug was introduced in HX20V (HX9V didn't have this problem) and SONY hasn't fixed it yet. ii) Panorama mode is still not as easy as with Casio's Exilim series. Sony gives you a fixed buffer that you have to fill in, instead of making a full panoramic picture based on when you stop, so if you don't fill in the full buffer you get black bars. iii) If you zoom beyond 4x and try to take a close up of a nearby item (ex. close up of nearby flowers using optical zoom instead of bending down) the camera won't focus. SONY's have had this problem along with Nikon but others like Casio Exilim series handle this scenario well. iv) The door to the charging unit is really flimsy and the connection between the power cord and the charging socket was very tight on my unit requiring a lot of force to unplug. v) Play button was a little too flush with the camera body, found myself pressing it a few times to switch mode. HX9V had poorly designed buttons which were fixed in HX20V and now some have come back. vi) Menu audio controls are not fine grain - so you can't turn off beeps during playback while keeping the beep feedback during focusing. Overall the camera is nice, takes good photos and videos, has fancy features like 20x optical zoom, HD quality video including modes for Blue-Ray discs, WiFi sharing, 3D pics, InCamera guide etc. in a very slim body. Compared to other compact superzooms that I have tried (Canon SX260HS, Sony DSC HX20V, Sony DSC HX9V, Samsung WB750, Nikon Coolpix S9100, Casio Exilim EX ZR100 and Panasonic DMC ZS19) I'd place this one better than all but the Panasonic. It's a different matter that Panasonic has taken a step back in it's upgrade to ZS19 with ZS25/30 which prompted me to take a look at SONY again.

I have used it now for the best part of a year and have taken it on a vacation. I would consider it a 5 star rating but for the viewing screen performance outdoors. On a cloudy day it can be seen outdoors enough to get by; but, on a sunny day there are times that you can not see what you are taking at all. You have to avoid telephoto and just point and shoot. Luckily the 18.2 MP image allows ample cropping and still gives a very good picture. I am not saying that the view screen doesn't work outdoors, it just has problems in very bright sunlight. I have been very pleased with taking telephoto pictures and video without a tripod as the motion stabilization works amazingly well, as well as stabilization on my much larger and much more expensive camera. The auto focus does an excellent job of locking in on your subject to give a sharp picture. Wild life shots come easy. The preset scene settings do a good job, but the auto features and settings work so well that for the most part that is where I leave it. The "Gold Auto" setting takes very good pictures in low light, indoors and out. It is worth the small extra time wait between pictures to get the better quality picture. The pictures you get have very good contrast and color. Also, I would like to mention that this small camera has a very good flash that works out to 15 ft. with ease. This camera can be mounted on a tripod which helps if you know that you will be using low light or a lot of telephoto. The telephoto is easy to use and at 20X can easily pull in those items that you can not get to close to yourself. I have disabled the digital zoom on mine as it is more magnification than you need to keep the subject in the viewing screen. Also, the digital zoom just crops the size of the picture and this can be done yourself better and more accurate by using many types of software on your personal computer. In conclusion, I feel this is an excellent camera to take on a trip where you don't want to be bothered lugging a large camera around, while you are enjoying the scenery, and still be able to take excellent pictures.
