It took a while for me to get my hands on this one and I have to say that it looks way more stylish and attractive than the original one. Also, not that the light-bar isn’t conspicuous on the original one because it is white but we all know that light glows and shines more prominently with the black background and when it does, it looks magnificent and majestic. It is no different with this spectacular midnight black controller. It has matte finish on its front body and touchpad and high gloss finish on its D-pad and Action buttons, a combination, which, in my opinion sometimes also looks like a prop from heavy budget sci-fi movie. I don’t think I even have to talk about the kind of immersive experience adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and its speaker provide as all PS5 owners would know that by now. However, if you ask for recommendation on this variant of Dualsense, I feel every hardcore PlayStation fan should buy this one as they won’t regret it.Absolute masterpiece.

I purchased the Starlight Blue Dualsense controller to supplement the primary controller included with the PS5 as I have always liked having a second contoller for longer game sessions. As a PS4 owner I absolutely hated the DualShock controller after coming from the Xbox 360 controller - best controller made to this point, in my opinion - but the DualSense has been a bit of a revelation. I'll break down the "pros" and "cons" as I see them. Ultimately, you don't have many controller alternatives for PS5 unless you're willing to spend well over $200 for a third party controller from Scuf, etc so I can't say whether or not the DualSense controller is recommendation worthy or not. That said, if you need or want a new PS5 controller and are looking for something other than the customary black or white the Starlight Blue is an aesthetically pleasing first party option.

That uncertainty is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars, as well as, the price. While it is a good controller, it is a bit expensive. Especially if the anolog stick drift wasnt caused by the storm and this controller ends up having stick drift. If the latter is the case than it is certainly not worth the price.

This review follows from my original DualSense controller (that came with the PS5 on launch day) all of a sudden losing input on the down d-pad button, essentially forcing me to buy a new DualSense, since no one seems to want to fix it (and that includes Best Buy/Geek Squad). However, coming from the original launch day white model, I feel like this Midnight Black DualSense is a much better product. I believe there may be subtle tweaks that have been made in the newer color models (i.e., better trigger haptics, buttons being a bit clickier, etc.) that make it superior to the original, but I will also say that the color is great, and I prefer it to the white. While the black might not match how the original console looks (without black faceplates), it is a better color because it does not collect dirt/sweat/random hand secretions in the back textured crevices (at least that is visible). My big complaint with the original white was that no matter how clean your hands were, the back of the controller eventually got dirty. The black color seems to avoid this issue for the most part, and that alone makes it worth getting over the standard white. All in all, it's not a PlayStation without a nice black controller, and this one does the job very well. Hopefully the buttons will last on this one for longer than a year and a half.

The Ps5 controller gets joystick drift after a few months of purchase. A 1 star review from an Amazon customer stated “Have had 2 controllers in less than 4 months and both got stick drift and made games unplayable. Bad product.” Having stick drift can be a terrible thing when it starts to move your Ps5 joysticks in game on their own.Don’t sit out and wait any longer to get your own Ps5 with your own custom Ps5 controller.
