This lens is a wonderful surprise. First I balked at what seemed to be a high price for this type of glass. I was comparing it to my 18-55mm kit lens which was about half the price. I bought a Rokinon 12mm instead, at first, because it was less expensive and, even within its limitations, would probably do the trick. But I was mistaken. Sometimes you just have to shell out the money for what you really need. The build quality of this lens is very good - while still being lightweight. It fits my a6300 beautifully - with good balance and fit in the hand, and good looks, as well. Highlights include excellent autofocus, a nicely weighted focus ring, when shooting in manual, and sharp, color accurate imaging throughout the range. I've used it mostly for video and it resolves quite well for 4K. Initially, I looked at this as a specialized lens, but I've been keeping it on camera more of the time now. With Sony's amazing Clear Zoom - you can push it to a field of view equivalent of about 54mm - so it winds up being a surprisingly versatile lens. I should have bought this a year ago. It does so many things so well.

I had never before bought from B & H but a really good friend recommended them highly and does not shop anywhere else for camera stuff. I live in Colorado and wanted to save a little money on this lens. I looked at the description of what was included and saw that it had a nice filter and lens cleaning kit, the latter being something that I did not need. I ordered anyway and in doing so, thought I was buying a lens without the lens cap and lens hood. I shopped online and found them on Amazon really cheap with free delivery. I looked at getting them from B & H but the website told me I would pay shipping plus I did not see the cheap knock off on the B & H website. As you might guess, the B & H lens came with the lens cap and Sony lens hood. I now have extras. A wide-angle zoom lens, to me, is a specialized tool for travel photos. I purchased this 10-18mm /f4 for that purpose and I am not disappointed in it at all. It focuses quickly and accurately, having decent sharpness and contrast over the entire image, and it incorporates vibration reduction. In bright light the shutter speed will usually let me get sharp images without vibration reduction, but if I am traveling without a tripod it's good to know that I can still take shots at twilight or indoors that will be usable, I compared the images from this lens with others from my Zeiss 2,8/12mm Touit lens. The two lenses are similar only in focal length. The Zeiss is a prime lens without vibration reduction, and is a full stop faster. For travel photos where I am shooting rapidly on the go the Sony gets my vote. For landscapes where I always have a tripod and plenty of time to get the shot just right the Zeiss is a better choice. In other words, the choice of lenses should be based on the intended purpose.
