Only manual focus got sharp results.Sliced a working one elsewhere and it works greatNow, is you mount this on full frame you can remind the rear plastic flange by removing the 3 small black screws and you get nearly full coverage!So now wheels on my NEX5N and A7C, bargain.

In a nutshell: Only buy if found at low price. A pancake option with a wide angle, it sounds good on paper. However, unlike the sigma 16mm, this wide angle is not very sharp and despite small size it isn't an upgrade from the 16-50mm kit lens in as far as image quality. It was never designed to be amazing in all fairness. A relic of the first generation of sony mirrorless cameras, sony nex range. Some copies are faulty or are off focus, images are not very sharp at lower apertures, and has no image stabilisation. The positives are the size... not much else... it can take nice enough images stopped down, it is small and discreet, af speed is normally acceptable. Suited to sony e mount aps-c camera, just a thing to leave in your kit bag.

Appearance is beautiful.Tiny scuffs from normal use.Lens:Beautiful condition.There is no fog.There is no fungus.There is no balsam separation.There are no scratches.There is no dust.No problem with shooting.
The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 is a good, tiny lens that makes an extremely good job once you have learned how to use it for its best qualities. The quality at the centre of the image is awesome and becomes (quite fastly) softer towards the edges. The lens has some pleasant vignetting which I personally appreciate - yet you can correct it on camera. The only point you have to be aware of is that the lens has quite a noticeable amount of Chromatic Aberrations in specific lighting and framing circumstances.Overall, the quality is excellent for casual photography. I would probably not use this lens on professional assignments unless I knew it well.The build quality is flawless and I do really appreciate the extremely thin form factor.

At high frame rates, that body crops in to 2.2, so you need to start with a very wide lens in order to maintain a reasonable field of view for whatever action you're trying to capture. This lens does this, becoming effectively a 35mm lens in HFR mode. So, y'know, it checks that box. But it doesn't give an especially good looking image. You need to stop it down to get anything like sharp focus, which negates the point of it having a fast aperture in the first place. Great lens! Personally, so far after a really short review period, its sharper than my 16-50 kit lens which is what I wanted. Its lighter and less moving parts which makes it easier to carry. And I never used it as a zoom always kept the lens at 16 which is why I decided to buy this lens. Wide open at 2.8 and in low light is does respectively well and didnt have any issues with focus which surprises me. Probably should read the sellers description a lot closer. Lens hood had a weird substance on it. The lens is all beat up. Thankfully the glass is just dusty and no scratches. Didnt come with the uv filter as pictured. I ultimately got this at a good price and it works so Im gonna keep it. But wont ever buy from this seller probably
Good pancake lens for Sony ASP-C. Small and compact on a Sony alpha 5 series camera body. Could fit in your pocket with lens on. Decently wide aperture for slight bokeh effect on portraits. Decent in low light. Wide angle shots. Good for street, landscape, real estate and venue photography.

The other night, I was noticing some really bad inconsistencies with AF and this was happening with more than enough light, correct exposure settings, focus speed tested on normal and responsive which is the highest it can go on my camera. I even swapped cameras. Still happened. I swapped to the 18-135 zoom lens that came with my A6400, and it performed just fine, with no AF issues whatsoever. Very very odd. I've never had any issues with any of their budget friendly lenses and they are backed by pretty good warranties. If I had to go for only one wide prime, I am replacing this with the sigma 16mm f1.4 contemporary. Its bigger and undoubtedly heavier but better quality than this for sure and ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES WITH AF. That can be so frustrating to shoot a whole session only to find out after, you have to go and do it over because the lens isn't behaving as it should. If this is all you can afford, go ahead and roll the dice. Its a good looking lens and sharp, but the quality and longevity may not be there with this offering from sony.
