The silver E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS E-Mount Lens from Sony features extra-low dispersion glass, a broad zoom range and aluminum alloy construction. On an APS-C camera, this zoom lens has a 82.5-315mm focal length range, suitable for event photography and portraiture alike. Internal focusing and linear motor-driven AF system help create responsive yet quiet focus while minimizing mechanical noise. Additionally, a separate manual focusing ring capable of Direct Manual Focus allows seamless transitions from AF to manual focusing. Two extra-low dispersion elements, combined with Sony's Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilization, improve the overall quality of images captured at the telephoto end of the zoom range, especially while shooting in low-light conditions. OSS is capable of reducing the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops. An aspherical focusing lens located in the center of the optical path help to reduce aberrations throughout the zoom range as well as improve the AF response time of the lens. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization is capable of compensating for camera shake up to four f-stops, useful for handheld shooting in low-light conditions at the super-telephoto end of the focal length range. Two extra-low dispersion glass elements and an aspherical focus lens help to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range while maintaining image sharpness and clarity. Zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 82.5-315mm, providing a broad range of telephoto perspectives.

A great quality lens for my Sony a6000. The pen, air pump, wipe, and cap keeper work well. The UV filter fits nicely and can be used with the lens cap without having to take the filter off. The lens hood that is included as an accessory does not work with the lens. However, a hood of better quality is included inside the Sony retail box and works great so I won't complain. Lens is definitely powerful even from far away. Love it and the price is at least $100 under normal retail. Very satisfied. With my purchase.

It's a fair lens. Given the price and it's decent build quality, I'm okay with it. My biggest problem is with the zoom creep. The zoom doesn't actually creep by itself, but the slightest force will make it creep. If I wear the camera around my neck, and have the camera tilted around 20 degrees downwards, the soft bounce/swing motion of the camera when walking will cause the lens to creep out to the 100mm focal point by the time I walk about 10-ish feet. Because of this problem, my hands were on my lens the whole time I walked the zoo the other day even though the camera was hanging from my neck the whole time, because I didn't want the lens to creep out and be prone to damage. For autofocus, it focuses at a decent speed. Clarity/sharpness is good enough for my needs. If you want anything noticeably better, you're gonna be looking at 7x to 8x the price.

Fantastic Value and a really usable focal length. It's not the sharpest lens in the world but I have taken a couple of nice p\images with it. Very light for it's size and fits into a jacket pocket. I've taken it on two vacations and two sporting events.

I am a beginner with interchangeable lenses. I think this is a good place to start because of the price and reach of the lens. I lot of YouTube reviewer recommended other lenses that cost 2 to 3 times as much. I think once you are a professional those would be good, but as a beginner, I think this is a good start. Imagine is good to me. Just used at a concert for video and photos. Am very happy with it
I'll keep this short - My first copy of this lens (bought at local camera swapmeet) backfocused. So this is my second copy of the same optic. This one purchased new here on eBay is sharp at the chosen AF point. I'm sure on an optical bench there are "sharper" optics, but in the real world this lens does everything I ask it to do. This includes tracking fast-moving corvids in flight and fight, and only slightly slower vintage automobiles running the streets of Paris. I really enjoy using this lens. It's weight is just about right and the optical stabilization works a treat.
For those with Sony Alpha A6xxx series cameras, this has a lot going for it. It's main benefits are a good zoom range (82mm-315mm 35mm equivalent), and compact, lightweight construction. It's biggest down side is its slow variable aperture (f4.5-f6.3) which rapidly diminishes as you zoom to longer focal lengths. Which means it's typically most useful outdoors in bright conditions (and only useful under those conditions at its longer focal lengths) But at 55mm it sports a faster aperture than the usual 18-55 f4.5-f5.6 kit lens. And it's center sharpness is quite good at all focal lengths. There is some pin-cushioning/barrel distortion near min and max focal lengths, as well as some vignetting, but it is automatically corrected for JPEGs and in a lot of RAW ... MoreFor those with Sony Alpha A6xxx series cameras, this has a lot going for it. Corners can be a little softer for subject matter like landscapes where the whole frame needs maximum detail, but if there is a main subject in the center of the photo, its not objectionable and can help accentuate that main subject. Overall, a great outdoor travel lens and very good value.
First my "bad" comment. I'm not a fan of extending barrels on lenses. For a bunch of reasons, but mainly it's because it creates a too long lens which make it more awkward. Now for the "good". I needed a 70-200 for high school basketball. I really needed an F2.8, but cost made it impossible. Next, how about a G lens for my Sony A6000 is a good choice, but it's F4. High school and college basketball gyms are notorious for bad lighting, and F4 wasn't successful for me in my Nikon days. So I thought, I'd try the Sony SEL55210, which is a 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS E-mount Zoom Telephoto Lens. I have done only one basketball tournament with this lens, at a reasonably new college gym, but alas, the lighting was awful. I have done only one basketball tournament with this lens, at a reasonably new college gym, but alas, the lighting was awful. I took only one camera and lens, so I would have to make it work. Sony A6000 (mainly because it shoots 11 frames a second, and a has a really good focusing system. Over 5 games, 160 minutes of play, I shot 1,931 pictures. That's 12 shot a minute average. I kept seeing the photos as I shot, and kept not believing that the compbo of this camera and lens could take such good, clear, bright pictures. When I got home and went though them on the computer screen, I was dumbfounded. It didn't matter that the lens extends. It only matters that the results were excellent. The purchase of this lens was well worth it, 50 fold over. Doubly so when you consider the low price. Can't wait to use it outdoors, in daylight.
I am the proud owner of a new (to me Sony A6000). The standard kit lens is "ok" but I wanted to go with a longer telephoto for a bit more reach. Sony makes some decent, affordable lenses and this one seems to fit the bill. It is on the E-Mount system so it works with the onboard autofocus and aperture controls. It is smooth and easy to zoom. The deluxe accessory kit was a bit of a letdown. The filters are the wrong size for this lens and need to be used with an enclosed adapter. Problem is that if you use the adapter neither the stock lens hood nor the screw on tulip style one that comes with this kit will work. The accessory kit is therefore totally useless to me, thus the knock of one star.
Tried so many zoom lenses over the years, tried over thirty different models, many adapted to Sony e mount. The trouble with adapted lenses is mostly you get no af, you get disappointed, low quality Pentax, old Olympus, old canon lenses, and modern canon lenses with at but they focus hunt. Thank Christ I got around to getting this lens. Worth bashing out the money on. And so much easier with OSS and good AF. Do far impressed. Native lenses are worth their weight in gold compared to low-end older lenses.
had it for about a week and have gotten good pictures out of it using it with my a6000. The pictures I attached are all unedited and for the price it's really good. glass is mostly good and has a small amount of dust inside but doesnt affect the quality.
