I will try and keep this as brief as I can:Good stuff:- IQ is fantastic and codec is perfect for faster turnarounds where you don't want to run denoising. Near identical to FX6, but has some baked in noise reduction.- Lowlight IQ is very good with very little noise even at 12800 (second gain setting).- H265 codec is extremely good for such a low data rate.- Auto focus is the best I have ever used for video and works very well with Sigma DG DN lenses including eye AF.- Button layout is much better than a7siii and any other stills oriented layout. Clear labels and easy to use.- Zoom rocker is an excellent touch and makes framing fine tune adjustments very easy. Standard is intended for handheld shooting to prevent a hot grip and high is intended for use on tripod or other instrument. High heat will allow you to run 60p internal recordings indefinitely. If you have ever used a BMD Pocket 4k, the metal contacts get extremely hot but doesn't shut down. This is kind of like how high heat mode works with this camera.What's missing:- No custom 3D LUT support- No Waveform monitor, EI mode, or false color- no true 24/60p- No DCI 4K- No EVF included- No internal ND filters- No standard XAVC-I/L without noise reduction offered.I imagine most of these things could be added in a firmware update but even without these features, its a feature packed video machine that I will use as a primary camera for many different types of video projects (not narrative cinema). Sony would really do us a favor by adding some kind of additional exposure modes and 3D lut support. These should be the easiest to implement and ought to be a standard in video oriented cameras from Sony.Lack of ND filter makes sense because so far no manufacturer has produced a camera with both internal ND filters and an IBIS unit. To imagine the fx3 would be first to have these included at this price point is nonsensical but nevertheless complained about constantly online.All in all, this thing is more camera than most will likely need for standard FHD deliverables and sits at the top of my list of video cameras for general lower budget production or B/C camera purposes.

I've used FX3 for a month and so far this camera answered my needs.I'm a young Videographer/ Cinematographer. I had experiences working with Arri, RED, BMCC. These are good camera, but with my budget I can't have it or it doesn't have a feature that I need. So eventually I chose FX3.It's a compact, reliable autofocus system, Battery life, and Image quality.It's lacking of shutter angle, which I strongly hope for new firmware. I recommended this camera to my friend who is thinking to get FX30. it's different. Full-frame, you got what you paid for.Recommended: Yes

The internal fan is practically silent even during interviews. Dual SD cards provide an instant backup recording. It's a piece of gear that really makes you comfortable and confident so you can focus on the creative aspects of a shoot.

Would also be nice to see the XAVC-L compression to match the FX6 exactly. But XAVC-S renders a similar enough image to match and keeps file sizes wonderfully small. I know it was important to borrow parts from the A7SIII in order to keep price down...but I'll be honest, having a 2:3 ratio screen is pretty weak if you want to imprint cinema camera on this thing. 3 screen is small enough, but to have to put black bars on the top and bottom because you used a photography ratio on a video screen, is frustrating. They compensate slightly by pushing some settings down into the letterbox region of the screen, but It'd be really nice to see them put a 16:9 ratio screen on this camera. Anyway, that's really all I can complain about so if you're like me and nothing in this list is a deal breaker... then don't hesitate.Pros:So many good things to say about this camera. The resulting image is surely the most important thing, but functionality and usability is also important. They did a great job with both output and user experience. I enjoy shooting this camera, and I'm impressed with what you can create with it. As mentioned above (ironically in the cons section) the small codec and wrapper of XAVC-S H.264 10bit 4:2:2 UHD 4K SLOG3.cine yields a stunning image with only a tiny amount of recording space required. It's a very efficient codec. When shooting a controlled environment, it's stunning quality with plenty of dynamic range to create a great product. Outputting ProRes Raw via HDMI to my Atomos Ninja is when this camera really begins to flex. The ProRes Raw image has incredible latitude in high contrast scenarios. This raises the question as to why we can only output RAW via SDI on the FX6 and not HDMI if it's possible in this FX3...but that's a conversation for another review. Dual native ISO is a game changer in a camera and I love being able to lean on that when i don't have an opportunity to add light or change location while shooting. Auto focus, is incredible in this camera and I'll be leaning on it a lot with my Sony 20mm when flying on a gimbal stabilizer...that said, IBIS does a good job removing micro-jitters if you're standing still while shooting. Combined with sony's 28-135 which includes OSS, you can really begin to get away with shooting handheld in many scenarios and come away with stable footage. So much more to go on and on about but basically, it's a powerhouse of a camera. I Enjoy using it and I highly recommend it.Conclusion:If you're into the mirrorless style body and want a very powerful camera that is well designed and has minimal flaws or missed opportunities...this is the camera for you.
As s professional photographer and videographer, I was looking for a new camera body focused more on video.The dynamic range for video shot in S-log 3 is mind blowing. For the first time I feel like I'm editing video like I would photos being able to pull so much information out of the clip.The fan is also super nice. I shoot a lot of 60fps and some 120fps for the work I do. No overhear issues at all.When purchasing I couldn't decide between A7Siii or FX3. Glad I choose the FX3, because the extra video centered buttons, tally lights, Cine Ei after firmware update makes this camera a dream to work with.
i have two BMPCC6K's and they are now used solely for corporate interviews; but with this baby right here; oh my, i am able to do so much cause the set up is so lightusing this along with the PZ lens i have the best mobile set up to film networking or corporate events; run and gun documentary; short films; b roll shots and most importantly, sporting events;look, i am not one of those guys to nitpick so you can do that; i will say this, i was a Canon user and after getting this beast, i am never going back;this is pound for pound, the bestand it is the creative tool that let's me do anything;
